We believe that reasonably priced "American Comfort Food" is a rapidly disappearing culinary cuisine in the Bay Area. We decided that we would not let that vanish.
Providing a fine balance of basic tasty foods and exquisite culinary delights where comfort and creativity collide, we proudly present El Granada with our latest venture- Flavor.
What is California Comfort Food? Simply put, it is an attempt to take some of the classic and not so classic comfort dishes and have our wonderful chefs add some sort of twist to them. We will always try to provide the freshest ingredients and attempt to use local and organic ingredients when possible.

"This was a surprise for us--we had no idea that this was a restaurant with a real chef and artistically prepared food. The butternut squash soup was perfect, the short ribs as well. We think that short ribs and the accompanying sauce tells whether or not the chef is highly skilled, and these were perfect, so hats off to the chef and staff. The staff was friendly and responsive; just a very good experience overall. All of this, and at decent prices for such well prepared food. We're glad we have a new place to add to our list on the coast."

"I did not expect the food to be of such quality. I read several reviews and figured I would have to try it and the food lived up to my expectations. The Jambalaya was more a cross between a Jambalaya and Ciopino but that is a good thing. The quantitiy of fresh seafood and flavor of the broth was simply amazing. My wife had a vegi burger and enjoyed it as well. The service was also very good! Our waiter took time discussing the menu and he certainly had a passion for many items on the menu which is good. Anyway...well done Flavor!"

"Flavor has done a nice job fitting into the El Granada area. The food is decent, good size portions. Service is a little off, never was quite sure who our waiter was, food was delivered by different people and no one ever checked back in on us during the meal. Prices are a little on the high side. It is not one of our regular restaurants that we frequent but we will return at some point."

"Don't let first impressions scare you off. From external appearances, this nondescript building along 101 looks like a reclaimed family restaurant, complete with a large parking lot, no landscaping, and completely exposed the elements and eyes of all passersby. Once inside, the ambiance significantly improves. We were greeted by an efficient and friendly wait staff, and our server did a great job of answering every question we had abou the menu.
My wife had a salmon while I opted for roast chicken. Both were outstanding, accompanied by seasonal veggies. I started with a simple salad that was large enough to share. Beverages are limited in choice but of excellent quality.
We will definitely return. Nice to have another option for HMB."

"Fantastic selection of meats, fresh local vegetables. We have lived in the area for a while and had tried other area restaurants first such as Sam's, Mezza Luna etc. and had been disappointed. Two ordered the halibut special, which was good, and one had the double pork chop, which is not only delicious, but enormous. I had soup and salad--soup of the day was creamy asparagus, and it was very good--rich and thick.

"Flavor is a tasty treat here on the coast. The night we went we had the special pasta, which was a lobster fettuccine. It was brimming with lobster and the pasta was fresh - a really well done dish. We also had the brisket burger. The burger itself was very tasty, but it got lost on the large bun - you need either a bigger meat portion or a much small bun. The garlic fries and mac & cheese that came with the burger were delicious, but I would have preferred a choice of one or the other - too much starch for one dish. We shared the brussel sprouts, which were perfect!
The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return."

"I have dined at Flavor many times, mostly for lunch, and twice for their recently introduced brunch. I always walk away happy! The food is prepared with care and skill and I'm always surprised at the consistency of the quality and creativity. Wait staff are friendly and professional - you wonder if they have a share in ownership. I love introducing this place to friends and relatives when they come to visit - beautiful drive down the coast is also a bonus. I hope Flavor stays around for a long time - it's become a real favorite of mine!"

"I have driven by this place for the past 2 years and didn't think much of it until I heard from some people that it had recently been renovated- Decided to give it a shot and boy were we missing out before. The menu was fabulous! Literally could not decide what to order and every plate that came out of the kitchen looked amazing. I actually came back for a second dinner just three nights after going the first time!
Everything is made fresh at Flavor- from the ketchup, to the BBQ sauce down to the ice cream. They have local fish and local produce and the chicken is organic so the quality of the food is excellent. Between the two dinners, I had the pork chop which was AMAZING! Also recommend the braised short ribs and fish and chips"
