This distinctly urban restaurant and wine bar provides an elegant yet casual feel, ideal for lunch, dinner or after work cocktails. Townhouse's unique menu offers a large selection of small plates, sandwiches, salads and entrees to suit any taste.
"Food and service very good. However, the restaurant is so loud that one cannot have a conversation without shouting--all in all a very exhausting and non-relaxing place. Will not return."

"Went here for a business lunch and ate outside. It was the perfect upper end laid back atmosphere. Eating outside allowed us to talk freely. Located between two buildings you did not have to deal with too much noise off of Wacker. The food was delicious too and they are very accommodating to "selective" eaters like us. I will definitely come here again!!"

"When this restaurant first opened, it was quiet and the food was really good quality. It's now extremely noisy and appears to be the place to stop for a drink after work. The food quality has gone down (coldish salmon with tons of barbeque sauce dumped over the top and brown leaves in a drink with crushed mint), but the service was as good as ever. The waiter was knowledgeable and there when I needed him. That being said, I think this restaurant works very well as a great place to stop for a drink with your friends or work colleagues, but I won't be going back for dinner."

"Way too loud for a serious business lunch. Looks like a good place for happy hour. Menu was interesting, execution was not good. I had trout - dry. Client #1 has a salad with duck breast, medium. Meat looked as if it was rare and microwaved to make it medium. Meat was tightned and grayish with pools of juice on it. Client #2 had a turkey burger covered with cheese and bacon. Thought it was weird to offer a turkey burger and then coving it with those ingredients. She seemed to like it."

"The staff was fabulous! We came for a birthday and they gave us three excellent desserts on the house. The food itself was so very good. I had the duck. It was the best duck dish I have EVER had. I'm trying to think of a reason (excuse) to go back there! It's a somewhat fancy and moderately priced menu, so I'd definitely need a good reason to spend at that price point, but man if it's not worth it!!"

"Enjoyed a decent lunch with a colleague. Food was decent and approachable, service was friendly and effective. Noise levels varied through the lunch our, but conversation was still easy.
Reasonable change of pace for a lunch outing with colleagues, though probably not where I would take a client."

"Brought some people here for a business meeting, and since I'm new tithe city, chose his restaurant. The restaurant it nice but very loud. Loire music and lots of people. Not good to talk business and have to bunch over other all the time. My mistake on choosing the location. But the food was okay and it would be better for a party of 2. Tables small and can get cramped in here real quick."

"Townhouse is a nice business lunch choice if you work in its proximity. The food is rather average, and the noise level can be annoying at times. Also, the temperature in the restaurant was quite cold the day we were there. The service, however, is outstanding, particularly for the business lunch crowd, as they keep drinks, food, desert moving at just the right pace. Overall, the food was okay, the ambiance was on the loud side, but they get you in and out in sufficient time to talk business; we didn't feel rushed, and we didn't wait excessively for anything."

"A little loud but other than that it was nice. Even though they were out of lobster for the Mac&Cheese the subitute shrimp was cooked perfectly! It was awesome. Must try the Lobster next time!"

"Too loud, tables too close to one another, mediocre food, small portions with big prices. It is probably a handy spot for the office bldgs. on and around Wacker - that is, probably good for the downtown lunch set - but we were there before an opera and it was not suitable for conversation or lingering dining."

"I've been to Townhouse a few times now and food is good, but nothing to go out of your way for. It's a handy, reliable place if you work in the nearby area."

"After waiting 10 minutes for the hostess to seat us, our waiter bringing us the wrong wine, and then having to wait over 30 minutes for our appetizer, things got better. Our appetizer was given to us for free and the food was wonderful. It was a little noisy, but once the after work crowd left, it was very nice. I'd be willing to give it another chance."

"Food is mediocre & selections don't change much. Often you can get there about 12:30P and they are already out of some of the specials for the day. The service is friendly but slow. This is definitely more of a lunch place than a dinner spot. Go out of convenience but not if you only have an hour for lunch."

"The food was very good. We particularly liked the spicy pickle jar and the bacon donut dessert. Our server, Casey was absolutely awesome. I'd come back just to have her wait on us again. Overall a great night."

"This is more a lunch and happy hour place and very quiet for dinner, given location. This is too bad, as our dinner was excellent. Great food and great service, with an $8 wine flight."

"Food was just average and temperature inside restaurant was cold with constant draft from doors opening to outside (very cold day in Chicago). Great summertime outdoor space, but not so great on cold winter day."
