Hilton Head Island's destination for beef & seafood lovers, Crane's Tavern & Steakhouse serves only the finest USDA Prime Grade Beef & fresh local seafood. An old English bar & heart of pine floors create the setting with warm, inviting service & an award-winning wine list.
The restaurant represents 4 generations & over 100 years of restaurateurs in the Crane family dating back to 1908, when an Irish immigrant, Frank Crane founded Crane's Tavern in Philadelphia. After prohibition Frank's son, Francis & his brothers opened the famed establishment at 333 Queen Lane, where his son, Hank worked until 1969. That year Hank ventured out on his own & opened a Crane's Tavern in Ambler, PA. & then purchased the Surf City Hotel on Long Beach Island, NJ creating yet another establishment with the Crane namesake. In 1999 he & his daughter, Beth Anne opened Crane's Tavern & Steakhouse on Hilton Head Island, SC where it has become a local favorite

"I had the Strip and my wife had the Ribeye. I make a very good steak at home and I was very impressed with the preparation. I also had the wedge salad and it was also great. It was a little loud, but it was during Heritage week so I understand. I would recommend!"

"No major complaints but that's hardly praise. Very pricey! I don't mind paying up for great food and service but I feel taken advantage of when I pay up for average. A couple days before we ate at the Longhorn Steakhouse at the Tanger mall and had better food for half the price."

"My wife and I talked about having a nice diner after golf. I read the reviews for Crane's and made a reservation. We were greeted with smiles and seated on time. The best of this restaurant is the delicious Prime Rib. Have to say the best ever. Crane's has an English pub atmosphere and a cozy dark wood bar with a TV. They have cozy and small dining rooms that made us feel that we were in a private and romantic spot with a great décor to enjoy the company of the entire diners too. We found that they offer an early bird dinner menu of fish to Prime Rib with a salad and a glass of house wine too. A do not miss restaurant for us."

"Enjoyed a very nice evening celebrating my wife's Birthday..excellent wine and delicious food..your prime rib is probably the best I've ever had..my wife enjoyed your stuff sweetpotatoe raviolis. Intend to bring some of our friends to see you again soon. Thank you for making our dining experience a pleasant one. The table you gave us was perfect.

"A quiet restaurant, nice linens, dark wood, pleasant upscale oldfashioned tavern. Bar area at entrance,lovely dining area once you get past the bar. Server was knowledgeable, well trained, cared about her clients. the meatloaf was the reason we chose Crane's Tavern, as we had come off the golf course, on a cool January day, and one of the party wanted comfort food - hence the meatloaf. The menu offered variety to please the non red meat diners. A surprising wine menu: wines by the glass to please most, good selection of half bottles. The greens were crisp and fresh, the appetizers offered a good selection, the oysters were shucked to order for rockefellers, meatloaf was good. Only dissappointment, the pork loin was overcooked and dry."
