"My steak was luke warm when it arrived at my table and after two bites, it was room temperature. Didn't want to create a scene as my partner had friends that work there.
The sides were less than inspiring. Potato was ok, but nothing special. Corn was not much better than corn from a can.
The presentation was lacking. I suggest that the team at Black and Blue go to a steak house like Gibbys in Montreal or La Queue de Cheval and see the difference in food quality, presentation and professionalism.
I would go back to B&B for drinks, but why would I go to a place to eat when I can cook a better steak and tastier sides than they can.
Very disappointing. The only thing I liked was the design of the place."

"I made a reservation to take a friend who was visiting from another country. I want to add that my friend is a world renowned chef who owns to upscale restaurants in the Caribbean that many celebrities love to visit. I took him to this restaurant as my previous experience was excellent. Our experience was far from excellent. Our reservation was for 730, we did not receive our appetizers until 9pm! A couple managers came over to apologize throughout out wait, however it did not reflect in the wait or the bill. The food was not worth the wait, it was actually over- cooked and dry. Our dinners did not arrive til about half hour later. After such a long wait, I was not even hungry. Not a good time or dinner, wish we went somewhere else."

"From the minute you walked in the door the attitude was given by the three hostess's whom took 3 minutes to even acknowlege our existence. Then, after requesting an outside table through RoundTable, one was not available.
The service was slow, the appies were good but main dishes were 'off'. And it took an hour to get any food to the table.

"Reservation requested outdoor seating and lunch was intentionally booked late to avoid rush. On arrival we were seated downstairs and hostess simply said "no reservations for outdoors" and didn't offer any apology for the request being ignored or offer an option to wait.
I had gone the week prior and made a reservation for five which was accommodated. I have no issue if policy has changed but given request was on original reservation made a number of days prior, a call/email to advise that it was not possible would have been preferable.
In relation to food and service overall, a very enjoyable lunch and great service."

"I asked for a table on the Alberni-side of the rooftop in the special request section of your booking. When we got there, they informed us that the Roof was a first-come first serve seating. There was no warning on your site about this restriction-unlike the Keg Yaletown bookings. Anyhow, when we explained the situation to one of the managers, Jenna, she took care of us! The food was great and Sahara was a great server for us. It made for a memorable 40th bday lunch!"

"Our waiter was great in getting our drinks and then taking orders but then we waited for 20 minutes to get the bill !!!Was the restaurant short staffed?
The 2 Prime rib dishes were excellent,but the surf and turf was a bit skimpy!My steak diane was very salty...ashame as the meat was so tender.
Other than that we enjoyed the atomosphere and the attentiveness of our waiter just did not know what happened to him at the end!!!

"Was turned off by the host and the greeting.. felt VERY unimportant - only setback was didn't get to sit on the new rooftop patio but that was fix immediately as the owner sat us inside. Server was well educated with knowledge on food/wine food was too salty for my liking but overall good experience."

"We were celebrating one of our co-workers they gave us a space for 8 of us. Great service and the Burger meat was fresh and well done. We will come back for sure!
They have a 1.7 million dollar patio but they do not serve the special prices there! Tricky part because in Vancouver everyone likes a patio with sunshine in a good weather like this May summer time. Thank you!"

"The service was horrible, we asked for a booth they said "no we can't give you a booth"... Server was cutting our steak and dropped it on the table and said "oops " n put it back on my plate...manager was very rude. He had walked around to every single table and personally greeted them and skipped our table. I was very disappointed with the restaurant. I had brought my girlfriend for out anniversary. It was horrible place to bring her because of the service we got"

"Came here for lunch after hearing that they now have blue plate lunch specials. Our waitress came by to tell us their daily specials. We didn't see her again for another 20minutes. When she finally came by to take our orders she didn't even apologize for the delay. There was no reason for the delay when the restaurant wasn't even busy. We had to ask for a rush on our order because we were on our lunch break. Needless to say we're not coming back for lunch."

"Four of us for lunch - each one of us thoroughly enjoyed our different dishes. My tenderloin was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth fabulous. I was hesitant to have steak for lunch, but just had to try it and am glad I did. Then the 20-layer chocolate cake for dessert (shared, thank goodness) was spectacular. Will definitely go again!"

"I will never return to this restraunt again! This was by far the worst service I have ever had a nice restraunt like this I came to this restraunt because I heard this was an excellent place to eat. The food was very good but the server we had was terrible he was flustered and running around like a chicken with his head cut off which was his words exactly. He wrote down our order and still forgot to bring us out what we ordered. He wouldn't refill our drinks we had a couple times we had empty glasses. I did talk to the manager at the time and he got us a new waiter and complimented us a round of drinks and gave us a new waiter. But for the service and price I wasn't happy with my experience."

"Even tho I made a reservation, they tried to sit us right by the kitchen in a high traffic area. Someone walked in right before us without a reservation and got a prime front window seat. Odd for this caliber of restaurant but no mug was provided for the beer so drank it from the bottle. Not the end of the world and was probably the environmental way. Table service was very efficient and friendly.
Cowboy nachos sounded great but was extremely overpriced for what you received. Small stack of chips with little toppings but sitting on a very tasty sauce."

"- exceptional quality food, the sauses are on the salty side - food is served very fast so don't get the cocktails before your meal - you'll end up having your steak with a martini- very friendly waiters who have good advice- ask to be seated upstairs when booking (unless you want a patio in the summer), otherwise you might end up in a dark corner, behind the elevator and won't even see the grandeur of the restaurant itself"

"The restaurant is beautiful the food is excellent service great ambience fantastic. One of the best steak house restaurants in Vancouver. Although they have other great dishes for seafood lovers! They have two private rooms that are fantastic. The new rooftop is incredible! Definitely one of Vancouver's best restaurants!"

"Four hours of being pampered was just what the doctor ordered! We loved the decor, the focal point of the glassed-in meat locker and bar on the main floor, the balcony seating, Arturo and his 'rolling bar' and our server, Leah - a winning combo! Oh yes, the food, the wine selection and the attitude of all staff members we were exposed to ... priceless! We left feeling very satisfied, well entertained and wishing it was four hours earlier! A very special experience, thank you, we will be back soon!"

"This place has gone down hill since last year. It is no longer a "scene" with great food and service. I had to assure the wait staff that I was a good Tipper before I recieved superior service... They should have held on to their opening wait staff. The servers now are boring and unattractive."

"Made a reservation to celebrate an anniversary with my boyfriend. We came to black and blue specifically to get the Wagyu steak.
I had taken my boyfriend to glowbal for his birthday in July to treat him to the Wagyu steak then but we were informed they no longer carried it and that we would have to go black and blue. We ordered our drinks and about 10 minutes later we ordered an appetizer. We actually received our appetizer before we received our drinks. The restaurant was not busy by any means,
It was 930 on a Sunday night. I told the man who dropped off our appetizers that we hadnt received our drinks and he said "oo that's not good". We then tried to order the Wagyu steak and we were told they were out. Overall, huge disappointmen"

"The food was amazing!!! The vibe is very cool and hip. Some of the older members of our group had a hard time reading the menu in the light (or lack there of). Our server was friendly and well spoken, however she only came to our table 3 times during the entire meal. Our drinks sat empty until we flagged someone down, and the bar then took an exceptionally long time to make them. For the price of the food, I expected the service to be more high-end and attentive. I do have to highlight the fact that when I booked the reservation, I had mentioned that it was a celebratory dinner for my boss, and Black & Blue went above and beyond and provided him with a lovely dessert to celebrate. Really top notch!"

"The two desserts we had were high quality and amazing.
The beef was melt in your mouth delicious.
The lobster tails were a decent size and very yummy. On the pricy side, yes, but everyone needs to spend a bit more occasionally for this excellence. What did that muffler ad used to say - they make you feel like "a somebody".

"If you're on a date and can snag a booth it's a very cozy spot. Food was outstanding. Nothing was too heavy or salty. Loved the tuna appetizer. Loved the burratta salad. Loved the steak, the frites, the brussel sprouts. Loved the chocolate cake for dessert."

"Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I took my girlfriend to Black & Blue for her birthday; we were delighted with the staff because they recognized her occasion by promptly bringing over complimentary sparkling water. We shared the beef carpaccio and the beef tenderloin for two; they were both outstanding. At the end the night, our exceptional server, named Rio, brought out a complimentary piece of Black & Blue butter cake that tasted fantastic. A+ restaurant. Thank you Black & Blue!"
