"Had a reso for 10pm. Did not get seated until 20minutes past. When I inquired about the situation after 1inites the hostess rudely told me to be patient. I wouldn't have made a reso to wait 20minutes. Our server was very friendly and helpful with suggestions and menu items. All our food came out timely and was delicious. However, we were told of last call and when I went to make another sushi nigiri order, I was told they were out of rice. I am a bit bewildered how a sushi restaurant can run out of rice. All in all, I will return and had a pleasant time. Not the best but not the worst."

"The sushi is excellent, service great and ambience upscale but comfortable. Tomo has a great combination of traditional Japanese fare and things that you wouldn't find at most Japanes restaurants. Enjoyed the Sake and found the chef recommendations on the menu to be very tasty."

"Tomo is always great: Taya, Mai, Ferry, Priscilla and of course Cliff. Just love coming here. It's like seeing the most hospitable friends you can ever have. You have to try the Japanese Jack and Japanese Snapper, both of which Tomo brings in from a market in Japan every Tuesday and Thursday. Also, the sake list is quite good. I've not found a selection that I haven't enjoyed."

"We enjoyed our Sushi experience with the informed guidance of May, our server. She was extremely helpful in our selection process since we were mostly new to the world of Sushi. Everything was fresh, creative, flaorful and delicately prepared. The plating was picture perfect and the sauces were delectable. We sampled a wide variety of fish in the chef's special dinner; everything was delicious. The Japanese whiskey that tastes like scotch is exquisite. The 1" chocolate dessert cube was a chocoholic's dream come true , and the cheesecake was so light it almost floated. The 20 layer cake was also light and flavorful. The wine list is good and the sake selection wide and enticing."

"The food was super fresh, presentation beautiful, and service impeccable. You could not have asked for a better server than Yumi - her attention, knowledge, sensitivity to special diets, and wonderful demeanor was just as rare a find as the restaurant."

"Waited 30 minutes for Water. Asked for water with no ice, requests was not honored for 45 minutes. The seating arrangements are awful, the service is deplorable, the Valet isn't even around or clear where to pull up, they cancelled my open table after we ate there (and we were less than 15 minutes late).
The food was just OK. Appetizers were good, Sake list is great but overpriced."

"The food was delicious, but it was served rapid fire....we barely lowered our chopstix after one course before the next was being placed on the table. We felt rushed. It is loud."

"This was our first time at Tomo, and it was my wife's birthday, so we decided to order omakase. Sure, for a multi-course dining experience like that, you're going to pay a little -- but my wife loved it. Time and time again we were wowed by what was presented to us. Our favorites were the chawan-mushi (a savory, steamed egg custard) -- and the kampachi . A little bummed we didn't get the kinme dai with our meal, but overall everything was very fresh and expertly prepared and presented.
Dessert held its own surprises -- the 'mango sunny' is an incredible replica of a fried egg breakfast, rendered in coconut pan cotta and mango. The yuzu sorbet is very refreshing as well."

"I saw Tomo on the list of the top 10 restaurants in Atlanta. So, we had high expectations. The most disappointing part was the food, it was edible, but worse than in the japanese/sushi restaurants we normally go to. The seating/ambiance is neither cozy, nor romantic. The bottom line is that the restaurant is ok, but I cannot understand how it got on the "top 10" list. And the next time we are up to Asian/sushi, we'll go elsewhere; of the several items we had, we only really liked in Tomo the edamame appetizer... To be fair, the service was wonderful."

"Sushi and sashimi at the very highest level. Abjure the California rolls and go for omakase (let chef Tomohiro Naito have his way with you) at the sushi bar. You'll be in for the meal of a lifetime."

"We went to Tomo to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we really enjoyed it. It is a smaller restaurant, but it was hopping in a fun, energetic way. The service was a little slow, but our server was very pleasant. For a Thursday night, there was definitely a lot going on! We ordered many items, from edamame to the chicken to the shrimp tempura roll, and really enjoyed everything we had! The drinks are particularly excellent. I ordered the "Satsuma" and loved it! The wine list is great too. I would definitely recommend it, particularly for a special occasion."

"The sushi was excellent, but the two-place tables are a little too close together for comfort and intimate dining. If you don't mind the waiter almost overlapping your table while taking orders for the adjacent two-seat tables, then this is the place for some of the best sushi and sashimi in town."

"After waiting 30 minutes for our table, we were finally seated. The food is average at best and quite expensive. There are much better Japanese sushi places in Atlanta. Our group all thought the restaurant was overrated."

"Overall food was good, but consiering the price, I am not sure if it was that worth, honestly speaking. My server did not present the special for the night or something was missing because when I was done with dinner, I saw the table next to mine ordered oysters which I did not see in the menu. Also, several items from the menu were not available, which annoyed me a bit."

"Nothing was less than good and nothing was particularly great. e had the house roll and one of the signature sushi items (Sea Urchin). Essentially the food tasted fine looked great. This is pretty typical of what you would expect fro a Las Vegas type restaurant. There is much better sushi/sashimi available in Metro Atlanta for considerably less dollars."

"Came here for an early Valentine's day dinner and ordered the $50 per person sampler menu. The dishes tasted fine but not outstanding. The size of the dishes were outstandingly small, literally one bite size. I can go to Nori Nori for a $30 buffet and eat the same quality food as much as I want. Even the sushi was pretty much the same quality as Nori Nori and trust me, I'm a big time sushi eater who can differentiate. The dessert was probably the best part of the meal but all in all, it was not worth it. I don't think I will go back. One more comment: they advertise their Happy Hour menu on their website and on their big front door BUT they have already stop offering the deal for a long time."

"Was so excited to try this place, but found it to be very disappointing. I feel like this place is overrated. I love sushi but their sushi seems to be just average. It may be an okay sushi place for people who haven't had sushi outside of Atlanta. I would honestly say I prefer sushi niko niko near the mall of Georgia or ninja steakhouse in Hamilton mill. I would never come back to this place."

"The quality of the food is very good. However, the portion size has shrunk a lot since we were there couple of months ago, especially the grilled black cod appetizer. The piece of fish was so thin and small that it looked pitiful - like leftover scrap from someone's plate.
For high-end establishment like Tomo, most of your clients will not mind paying a bit more, but at least provide a decent portion."

"This place had been raved about by my husband, who had attended a holiday party there recently. I found it to be just "okay". The sushi was lackluster, and didn't really have much taste to it. The service was just "so so", as water service was spotty.
I was frankly disappointed. We have been to many sushi and sashimi restaurants around the city, which are less expensive and have better food. I felt it was overpriced and mediocre, though the place is attractive. I particularly liked the "jellyfish" treatments over the lights."

"Tomo is the food that dreams are made of. Exceptional, interesting, unique and absolutely delicious. Do not miss the Kampachi Serrano, or the Kimmie Dai new style, my personal two favorites. The Japanese Snapper nigiri is out of this world! Snow crab jalapeño is delightful as well. I could seriously list 15 items on this menu that you MUST try, and won't find anywhere else in the city. Service is friendly, but fun. Bar scene is not packed, but lively, and the cucumber martini is to die for. I've loved Tomo since the old days in a strip mall in Vinings. Happy to know that the personalized service and outstandingly fresh, quality food did not change when the location became beautiful to match."

"Travelled 5 hours to Atlanta for my wife's 40th. I had found Tomo online after reading great reviews. We did arrive late for our reservation so we weren't able to be seated at a table. No problem, the staff seated us at the sushi bar which was a treat in itself. Watching the sushi chefs was great entertainment! They all seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Anyway, the restaurant had a vibrant buzz. A great atmosphere, and the food hadn't even arrived yet. I've eaten some great sushi, and this ranks up there with any "inland" sushi. It was fresh, tasty and very colorful! I would highly recommend Tomo to anyone looking for a great ambiance, wonderful food and good service!"
