"My wife and I ate hear on the first night of our honeymoon. The walk to the restaurant was quite scenic, but the view from our table was breathtaking. We got there at 6 PM and stayed longer enough to see the sun disappear behind the water. It was truly an amazing sight to see the sun set so fast. The food was great, and highly recommend the Chocolate Rip Curl for dessert. The service was excellent. Very Friendly and quick to serve any needs we had. The birds flying around were quite entertaining, and one even tried to slip and slide through the oil for our bread. They provided a good laugh, photo opportunities, and a good story. My wife and I will definitely be looking to eat here again should we visit the Big Island again."

"We chose Beach Tree for our 10 year anniversary dinner, and it did not disappoint. Local ingredients in many of the dishes (e.g. Wow farm tomatoes) really brought out great flavors in the dishes we tried. The kitchen accomodated our requests (e.g. make more spicy) expertly. The Ox Tail Gnocchi was delicious, and our dessert with homemade macadamia nut ice cream was something to be experienced. Ambiance was great with live, local music and even little kids got into the action dancing on the lawn. Sunset over the ocean just capped the evening. We came back another night for a more casual dinner with friends - appetizers, pizza, etc. - and had a wonderful time as well. Highly recommended."

"When you go to a restaurant at a Four Seasons resort, you expect a certain level of quality. The only element of Beach Tree that came even close to that standard was the setting/view. The menu needs a marketing overhaul - no descriptions, nothing to excite me about what I was going to order. The food was either bland or overly spicy. My son's spicy lobster was so hot he couldn't taste the rest of his meal. My wild board ragout tasted like slightly overcooked pork with no herbs.
The service was abominable - our waiter was just incompetent. After saying we needed a couple more minutes to decide he vanished from the floor for over ten minutes. We didn't get bread until asking for it 40 minutes after being seated. And on and on."

"For our first night in the Kailua-Kona area we planned to have the Tuscan BBQ on the beach. The grounds of the Four Seasons were spectacular. All the employees were exceptionally terrific. We could order off the regular menu or have the price fix BBQ. We were encouraged to take a short walk to the sea wall to see the fish and steak prepared on the grill and also an awesome view. Food and drinks were terrific too-service excellent. Good entertainment too. Would not hesitate to return."

"Waited at the host table for over 15 minutes before anyone came to help us. Then, we were not seated right away, even though we had reservations. We decided to wait at the bar. Waited over 7 minutes at the bar and again, not one employee acknowledged us, even to see if we would like cocktails. I was beginning to think we were invisible. Service was incredibly poor and disappointing. We got the four cheese truffle pizza as an appetizer, which wasn't great. I got the oxtail gnocchi, which was lovely, but very very salty (I like salt, but can imagine few other people could handle that level) and my husband got the swordfish, which was a generous portion and was well cooked.

"Even though you are at the four seasons the atmosphere is amazing, the food amazing and the service amazing. We are locals that have been waiting to be able to get a reservation and we weren't disappointed. I had the pasta with pork and that was great, my partner had the spare ribs and it was incredible! We got the chocolate dessert called the wave and it is probably better to share with 4 people instead of 2. Beautiful and delicious! Will be coming back to the Beach Tree. This isn't the cheapest place in town for dinner but you pay good money most places that you visit so might as well spend a bit more for one of the best on the island."

"Not a good experience..at all! The waiter, Josh, was sporadically attentive. The drinks were waaaaay over priced; they charged my sister $21 for a lemon drop martini which at other upscale island restaurants were less than $10. Also, her Shrimp Scampi portion at $33 was so small it should have been called "Shrimp Skimpy" with only 5 medium size shrimp. My wife's arrabbiata came on unusually thick spehgehtti that diminished the experience and the flavor was so-so. To be fair, my Riggatoni dish was good. To sum it up: great ambience but loud, poor service, mediocre food that was overpriced for Italian, and drinks at New York City prices made for a disappointing evening. Will be on the island for a while but won't be back nor recommend."

"Beach Tree is located at the Foud Seasons Hualalai. It is located steps from the beach and has a dramatic view of the sunset. On the lawn directly in front of the restaurant kids are playing while the sun sets behind the beach tree itself. Every night they have a duo playing either contemparary music or Hawaiaan music. It's such a beautiful combination (sunset, beach tree, kids playing (yet not screaming) and music). In addition, the food is terrifc especially the fish. We ate here 3 nights out of our 7 and loved every night. Plus the bar is also fun and has the same beautiful views.
Highly recommend it!"

"We loved this restaurant. The food, ambiance, and service are all top notch. Live music, great cocktails, a beautiful view and good people watching - senators and movie stars sat all around us. It's actually both romantic and kid friendly, because there's a large lawn fronting the beach and the musicians and hula performer made sure to get the kids involved in dancing and playing while the adults finished enjoying their meals. Cannot speak highly enough of this magical place. We will definately be back."

"The Beach Tree is a wonderful open air restaurant with a tasty and varied menu. The wine list is unusual in its presentation - the wines are grouped by price $20 / $40 / $60 and you can order a bottle, a carafe for 1/2 the price or a glass for 1/4 of the price. There was a special menu with a Tuscan theme cooked beachside. The only drawback is that the restaurant is adjacent to the pool bar and grassy area where children were playing ball and families were eating at the bar. This was not distracting but took a bit away from the romantic ambiance. For our anniversary, we received complimentary glasses of champagne and when we were done, we had not finished our wine and were encouraged to take our glasses and sit on the beach."

"We didn't realize that this was at the 4 seasons but we had such a fantastic meal that did not remind us of hotel food. The restaurant is beautiful..located on the beach with stunning decor. We also had a hawaiian guitar player serenading all of us during dinner. I had the beef short ribs and they were the most tender short ribs I have ever had! My husband and I were very impressed! Everywhere is expensive on the Big Island..this one was actually worth it!"

"What a disappointment! We read the reviews and thought at The Four Season it should be outstanding. The food was horrible. My fish was so overlooked I could have used it for a hockey puck. When we told the waitress her response was a bright smile and "I'm sorry." The music was competing with another group performing on the Property and add screaming kids running around-you could not hear yourself think much less have dinner conversation. The wine list was by price which was telling. It would have been fine for an overpriced burger with little kids but was not fit for adult consumption. With all that it was the most expensive dinner in a week of really fine dining with excellent wines ."

"The Beach Tree is a great place for a special dinner. Located in an open air dining area next to the ocean at the Fours Seasons Hotel, Hualalai. We enjoyed a before dinner cocktail in the adjacent bar while watching the sunset. Hard not to be relaxed at this location. For dinner my wife had an excellent shrimp dish while I enjoyed a well prepared rissoto. There was a two piece band playing that provided an excellent backdrop to the meal and scenery and made our evening even more memorable. Only downside is this will be an expensive night out, so be prepared for the cost."

"I have reviewed this personal favorite many times and still continue to be wowed each time we eat here. Under the skillful hand of Chef Nick Beachtree puts forth flawles pasta dishes, including his gnocchi, delicate, delicious sauces and creative entres.
The wait staff understands food and wine and quality control is high, even during the busiest evenings, is spot on. The staff is always friendly and welcoming.
It's a bit pricey buy I think a good value for the freshest of items."
