"Went on a week night for a business dinner while in Des Moines. Nice atmosphere. However, the Service was peculiar. Our original waiter was ready to take a dinner order while we preferred to have a cocktail first. After coming by the table with fairly attentive service he stopped coming by?? We waited 25 minutes for a new waiter who took our order?? I asked and the new waiter simply said we now had a "better waiter"...? OK. Osso Buco was fair at best. Colleagues dish was a salmon creation that was pretty good. Nearly no knowledge of Wine List on part of staff.

Nice Place really, convenient for business travelers downtown, perhaps certain dishes are much better...Unfortunately, leaves the impression Des Moines is pretty far from other Ci"

"While this restaurant consistently gets high marks, I was underwhelmed once again. For our party of five, all dishes were generous in portion, but lackluster in content. While there was nothing wrong with the food, there were no sauces or sides or preparations that wowed. Less than stellar service further degraded the experience. There are many similar restuarants in Des Moines from a price comparison that I enjoy far more."

"Friendly hosts; knowledgeable, efficient and attentive servers; outstanding food prepared and served at perfect temperatures. Did have to wait "awhile" to place order but evening moved along well after that. We brought teenagers and young adults - everyone, even the picky eaters, went away happy."

"Our group had a great experience. The menu had many options, and all of the food was excellent. The portions were very good sized which made the prices seem more reasonable. The service was great as well. The only downside was the high level of noise, which made conversation difficult at times."

"My stepson and husband had steaks and were very happy with them and the doneness. I had a new dish on the menu that had goat cheese ravioli, grape tomatoes, and mushrooms in it (Ravioli en Brado). It was almost too salty to eat! It came in a large bowl, like soup, which surprised me because it didn't say it was a soup on the menu. I wouldn't order it again. I would have preferred it to be in a shallow bowl (which would make it easier to cut the ravioli to eat) with much less broth and maybe a vegetable, like asparagus or artichoke hearts. Overly salty foods can be expected at fast food joints, not restaurants like Centro with a chef at the helm. The service was great."

"Cod,poached, asparagus wrapped in proscuito, and potato chips was the special. Cod was firm and tasty, and the rest of dinner was terrific. great salad (centro special) tasty, good way to start off.

"I love Centro and always have a really good experience while dining there... My meal was great and came out very quickly. Wasn't able to finish my salad before my main meal was served. "Classy restaurant. I had the Chef's Inspiration, which consisted of a delicious spinach crepe, well-prepared flank steak, and an apple pudding a la mode to die for — for $25. Quite the deal. Excellent presentation, great meal. My wife and I enjoyed the wine flights — she had red, I had white — which included descriptions of the wines in detail. Light, crisp and flavorful. Servers were attentive and prompt, but not intrusive."

"The food was good, however, when we sat down at our table, we waited around 10 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. Then the people that sat down after us, received their drink order before us. When I asked the waitress why they received their drinks first, she replied that our drinks were more complicated to make (martini) and that the bar was just making drinks in random order. By this time, we had already been there 25 minutes and had not received our drinks. Finally after about 35 minutes we were served our drinks right when the food arrived. The food overall was very good, but I think a bit pricey for the amount you get. You can go to a ton of other restaurants in the Des Moines area and get much more for your money."

"This restaurant has always been a favorite of my Fiance and I, and we thought to take our best friends and my parents out here for dinner before attending a show at the Civic Center. Centro never seems to fail on delivering the best food I have ever tasted! I have eaten there at least 10 time for dinner and have never ordered the same thing twice, always delicious. I also order pizza from them quite often for lunch, amazing. Wonderful service, great environment, awesome portions."

"My husband and I celebrated our 17th Wedding Anniversary at Centro. You get what you pay for. The food was pricey, but very delicious. One negative was the noise level. It would have been more enjoyable to sit in a quiet corner. If you were out with friends, it would have been fine. We will be back with our children to try some of your pizza, which we have been told is also delicious."

"Centro is a great lunch or dinner spot if you are looking for a restaurant that has a nice atmosphere (I prefer my restaurants to be a little darker at night) a wonderful wine list, a larger menu selection than I had anticipated, and great service. I was also surprised by the location the restaurant was located (A nice and clean portion of Des Moines). "Centro was a pleasant surprise. Maybe one of the many reasons they call Des Moines the surprising place! Great decor, very good service and busy...all of this on a Sunday night. The only thing I would suggest is that Centro add a lot more vegetarian pasta dishes to the menu. There was maybe...one. I give them credit for having a hand made veggie burger on the menu- but when you want Italian...you want Italian.
I would go again."

"We went to Centro before the show upstairs and the meal was excellent. We had both the Centro Steak and the Salmon which made a great meal for two people to share. The cost was reasonalbe and the staff was great to work with. I would definately recommend Centro to anyone and I often do.
Thanks for a great dinner."

"Great food. Love the inclusion of La Quercia proscuitto in many of the dishes. Menu changes frequently but have never been disappointed. Chef's menu (at $25) is an excellent bargain (although chicken parm didn't appeal to me that much)"

"As usual, Centro's food was great. Their goat cheese encrusted steaks are out of this world. And cooked correctly - I'm forever getting medium when I ask for medium rare - not the case here. I'd say my only complaint is it's so hard to decide what to order."
