Kutsher's Tribeca is a uniquely modern Jewish-American bistro open 7 days a week with lunch, brunch and dinner. Kutsher's will give New Yorkers their very first chance to experience updated "Catskills cuisine" inspired by the iconic Kutsher's Country Club founded in 1907. With a new take on timeless classics, the restaurant will bring the spirit of the Catskills to Tribeca, creating a brand new dining experience never before seen in New York City. The menu, created by NY Times 2-star chef, Mark Spangenthal, takes a contemporary and playful approach to the canon of Jewish cooking from small bites to more substantial offerings.
The 140 seat restaurant designed by architect Rafael de Cardenas presents a fresh take on the 1960's canteen, featuring a comfortable downtown aesthetic that channels the communal and family-friendly spirit of Kutsher's historic dining room.
"I was very curious to see (or should I say "taste") the food at what was, at least in my mind, a tribute to the Jewish mecca of summer resorts known as the Borscht Belt aka, The Catskills. I had the scrambled eggs with lox and onions which was yummy. My one friend had the homemade gefelte fish and it was an entirely different experience from that stuff that comes in a jar. Delicate, flaky and flavorful, served with sliced beets. My other friend said her Reuben was the best she'd ever had. And we all shared the potato latkes; maybe not quite like mom's, but very good nonetheless. The Duck schmaltz fries were another hit. So, go!"

"The resturaunt was pretty empty which gave a weird vibe but we figured our food would come quick. That was not the case. The waiter didn't show up for 20 minutes after we sat down and the food took way longer than it should have. The food was ok. Some things were "eh" while others were pretty good (the latkes and romanian steak were good) but overall nothing to rave about. Overall the service was pretty bad and slow. They could have just had a bad night which would be acceptable since the food was ok but the place was wayyy overpriced when taking into account the service. There are so many other options in NYC that I probably won't go back."

"The food was great and the service was good too. Had smoked fish platter. Whitefish was different than what I usually get at 'deli' but the fish was light and delicious. The capers had that perfect fresh salty bite to add to it. Loved the potato latkes, wish there were more than 3 in the appetizer for the price. Fresh homeade bloody marys excellent, needed a little more of a kick. Overall great experience. Needed water refills a few times, and no bus boy was in sight."

"Loved Sunday brunch, especially the fish platter, latkes and pear bellini. My chopped salad was not as wonderful as it has been previously (they forgot croutons and dressing was not outstanding) and I thought the waiter recommended cheesecake was boring and tasteless, should have skipped dessert when they were out of everything they wanted. Will return, just not around Passover when they are out of so much!"

"We went for brunch. Service was very slow waited 15 mins for coffee and our food came before our drinks. When you go to a deli type place, you expect generous portions, and to have a bagel come with your eggs. Small portions, very limited brunch items - I think they are trying to be gourmet. I really wanted to like it , but i couldnt. Go to Sara Beth's kitchen around the corner it's much better."

"The menuu is much abbreviated from our last visit. Kutchers really has lost a good deal of its appeal. I was particulary struck by the absence of what I thought was one of their signature dishes-the reimagined gefilte fish"

"We went to Kutsher's shortly after it opened and had a great time. We thought it would be a good place to take our in-laws who were visiting from out of town, but it seems the whole experience has gone completely downhill in less than 6 months. The restaurant was almost empty at 7:30 p.m.--never a good sign in NYC. The service is horrendous and we didn't even bother complaining about it because the manager is so apathetic and likely the root of the problem, that we were sure it would be falling on dead ears. It's really a shame since the food, if it's brought out within at least 85 minutes of sitting at your table, is actually quite good. We could have also done without the TED bears at the bar and the motorcycle in the window. Weird."

"This was our second time at Kutshers. We really enjoyed Everything. The potato latkes were just perfect- not greasy , very light and delicious.. The pastrami eggroll was also a hit served with a horseradish mustard. Our favorite main course dishes were the brisket and Romanian steak( skirt steak). Kids loved the rainbow hot fudge ice cream sundae to end the meal."

"It was overpriced and the food was tasteless. I had the ruben egg rolls. The cheese was undetectable. the matzo balls soup broth was weak with so much dill and parsley I thought I was eating in an herb garden. My husband had the duck schnitzel. There were portions that were so salty that he only ate a small amount. However the bread was delicious, moist and very tasty. Also the beer on tap was very good."

"For the price I didn't feel the food was anything special. As main courses we ordered the steak and brisket. I had to send the brisket back twice. The steak was good. Overall not a great experience."

"This was our fourth time dining at Kutshers and once again it was a great meal. We love the food, decor and service. This is now our favorite place in Tribeca and a very special place for us as it brought back wonderful memories of the Kutsher's Resort upstate. I recommend the Roast chicken and stuffing..always excellent..and the Mazah Ball soup...great kids menu too!"

"We went for my grandfather's 87th birthday brunch-perfect location! It has upscale deli food (my grandfather's favorite), and a bright and modern "pop deco" color scheme; which everyone loved. The staff was very accomodating and friendly, and the food presentation was excellent. I ordered the chicken salad which was a little on the salty side, but still very good! And the french toast (I was told) was delish- and looked amazing :)."

"The food was absolutely sensational. From the happy hour "finger food" menu to their full blown dinner menu, everything was perfect. All of the vintage photos that are all of the restaurant from The original Kutsher's Country Club in the Catskills really add a very personal touch. The staff was nothing short of amazing."

"I took my 8 year old son on a weeknight...wasn't crowded, staff was very friendly We had matzoball soup, crispy artichokes, chopped salad, and latkes.food was very good, fresh only complaints are that latkes were a little too salty. I also feel that the prices are a bit too high even for "upscale" deli food."

"Outstanding! Pastrami egg roll is devine, grilled cheese sandwich scrumptious and black & white cookie with ice cream for dessert was enough to put you over the edge! Go for lunch and skip dinner! Service was prompt, courteous and the restaurant is immaculately clean. Try it, you'll love it!"

"The comfort food at this restaurant is dead-on and delicious. The decor is cozy, while still being modern. The staff is friendly and excellent and did not seem annoyed by my comments about Kutsher's that, I'm sure, they've heard a million times before. We'll definitely go again!"

"We went in honor of Ed Koch, and got a very nice surprise. I was expecting more of a glorified deli, but found a very pleasant and spacious dining room with nice big seating areas, and an upscale and tasty menu with plenty of interesting choices. I will go back to try other things."

"Brunch at Kutshers was a blast. The smoked fish platter, matzoh brei and blintzes are true to their tradition, and french toast and omelet were equally delicious and generous dishes. A gazpacho bloody mary was a spicy concoction that hit the spot; there are a few other special brunch cocktails on the menu that sounded equally enticing. Service was good; the space is comfortable and cozy with a 70's style decor reminiscent of the glory days of the namesake hotel. Great brunch experience- not kitchy or faddish or old-fashioned; instead, we enjoyed delicious food, authentic to its roots, in a vibrant, cool environment."

"Made a reservation on open table & got there about 15 minutes early with my two children. Host was rude that we were early. Said we had to wait for reservation time (which was fair) but I didn't like the way he said it. The entire time we sat waiting with our three & five year old out table remained empty. When it was time, I had to ask for our table. I was so aggrivated! Then they were short on servers I guess and I had the host as our waiter! Food was good but I had a sour taste in my mouth from the whole experience. All in all I will not go back . Bring from Brooklyn... Pastrami sandwiches & latkes are a dime a dozen without the $100 brunch price tag"

"Arrived on time but hostess sat 4 tables ahead of us.Finally sat 1/2hr later. Not host nor hipster-dressed managers had the common courtesy or hospitality to make us feel attended to as customers. When seated, we asked for the banquette, instead of freestanding table, and the host, as my husband was asking, began shaking her head no, and then rudely cut him off with "I have a 7 top coming in for that."Ok, but where was that 7-top an hour and a half later? The whole wall was empty. Server was stressed and overwhelmed, but he did manage to get our food quickly.Reuben eggroll was a disappoinment, and the pig in a blanket, but the latkes and the meatballs were tasty.Mains were boring-Salmon over cooked.Desserts were awful oy vey!"

"Very nice joint in Tribeca - not the swankiest restaurant around, but definitely their kid brother with aspirations. The ambiance was nice, and even though I noted the noice level as "energetic," it wasn't overbearing or loud. The din was constant, but I could still comfortably hear my conversation without any straining. The server was incredibly friendly and eager to please, although we did have to wait about 20 minutes after arriving for an 8:15 reservation."

"The egg cream was authentic. The short ribs (flanken) did not quite melt off the bone like they should. They were a tad too dry. The Roumanian steak was excellent. The shmaltz fries reminded me of the filling of a Shatzkin potato knish, a pleasant memory. Chocolate layer cake was tasty, but not quite a full portion. Service was uninspiring."

"Starter and entree were okay, but portions were small and barley came with exactly 1/2 a small brussels sprout.Flanken was tasty but consisted of very little actual meat. When the particular cut is one that has a fair amount of bone and cartilage, one might hope for at least one more piece from which to extract the beef! The latkes, while good, would have benefited from two runs through the food processor, not just once through the coarse grater. The dessert was ample but bad.I've had better black and white cookies from a box.Our waiter was nice, but overall the service was atrocious. We waited about 40 bet'n starter and entree. The waiter, finally making eye contact, said"things are crazy tonight."We had to get & don coats in the freezing vestibule!"

"We went to Kutshers for Restaurant Week. Overall a very enjoyable meal. The waiter was attentive and our food came quickly. The appetizers (the chopped salad and the Reuben spring rolls) were both yummy. For entrees we got the chicken and the salmon. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and the stuffing was delicious. The salmon was well-cooked and the accompaniments worked well with it. The only stumbling point was dessert. My husband got the ice cream sandwich-- the cookies and ice cream were lacking in flavor and the texture of the cookies worked badly when made cold by the ice cream. I got the cookie plate and wow, I can get better cookies in the cookie aisle at the grocery store. Dry, hard, and poor flavor. A crime against cookies."
