Chris Nugent is chef/owner of this new 34-seat Fine Dining BYOB restaurant located in Lincoln Square. Goosefoot features a subtle palette of grays with touches of gold and black. The cuisine is an artful blend of French technique with modern vision created from small artisan farm products. Chef Nugent's talent for precision, refinement and visual artistry in the form of an elaborate nine-course tasting menu.
"Goosefoot is perhaps one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Many fantastic small restaurants like Goosefoot have opened in the last few years, and all are incredible - Goosefoot, Elizabeth's, El Ideas, Grace. Goosefoot is a standout in this lineup of accomplished restaurants because of the atmosphere, graciousness of the chef-owner and his wife, presentation of the food, and the amazing flavors that are coaxed out of each morsel on the plate!"

"We have been lucky enough to visit Goosefoot for the fourth time. The complexity of each dish is astonishing with multiple sensory triggers layered on each plate. The intricate plating of each dish requires quite a bit of artistry and time in the kitchen, so bring your patience and an extra bottle of wine; in order to enjoy a 3+ hour evening."

"Amazingly delicious! Read about Goosefoot when all the raves started. Hands down, all those raves were true! Although it took me quite awhile to find an open reservation through Open Table, I found one for 5:30pm on a Weds. Not typical dinner time but considering we were there til 8pm, the timing was excellent. My fiance and I were celebrating our recent engagement. Nina (Chef Nugent's wife), greeted us at the door and congratulated and sat us down. So friendly and in my opinion, I love seeing husband and wife supporting each other. Kudos for that! Went through 11 courses, each one only got better and better. Goosefoot is an experience everyone should try. The BYO option is just another plus for me. Can't wait for our next visit!"

"Second time visit and the food is still amazing! Each dish was so well prepared and presented. If I could package the cauliflower soup and take it home I would. Venison was very well prepared. Nina is such a warm and friendly person. Will be back many more times."

"Briefly: the food is outstanding. By far, this is the BEST value for fine dining in the Chicagoland area. I've been to most of the best of the best, and purely from a $ perspective, there is no comparison.
If you are not familiar with the restaurant, it is in a storefront in a partially vacant strip mall (not as bad as it sounds) - an unusual place for a fine dining restaurant. The interior is minimalist decor, and that, paired with the BYOB, ultimately allows them to focus on the food.
The solel negative is pacing. We had 9 courses, and after the 2nd, we had a 40 minute delay. Also, if you don't like combining your food, you will miss the chef's vision. Unless you mix the flavors, you won't get it. We would definitely return."

"The food was fantastic and I really liked the servers and their demeanor. The owner came to our table and asked us how our meal was going which was very nice. My only suggestion is that the dining time of 3 hours is too long. There was quite a bit of wait time in between courses which doesn't suit my dining style as I don't like that much down time. However, the overall experience was fantastic."

"Few exquisite restaurant fail to gouge their patrons via the alcohol service. Goosefoot is all about the food and the food is perfection. When a great restaurant allows you to bring your own wine, the cost of excellence is greatly reduced; your wine cellar serves you well and the experience is perfection. Bravo, Goosefoot! Joy, Chicago"

"Although the food was wonderful and the service adequately attentive, the pacing of the courses was excruciatingly slow - 3.5 hours for 9 courses. Sadly, the length of the meal detracted from what was an otherwise enjoyable experience."

"The food is an artful and delicious experience. The service is impeccable. No stuffy waiters here! I was particularly impressed that the chef's wife visited every table and was so complimentary to her husband. Even better that Chef Nugent came out and chatted with us. Their graciousness made the evening spectacular."

"Simply amazing! The textures and flavors wow your tastebuds with their strong, complex, and savory flavors. My personal favorites were the shrimp/preserved garlic/rosemary and the chestnut soup/alba mushroom/potato/truffle essence."

"Chris Nugent and his wife, Nina, have created the perfect dining experience from start to finish. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniverary. Everything about the food was amazing and Nina does an excellent job of managing front of house. The service was un-fussy, but very attentive and charming. We'll be back again for my birthday celebration this summer!"

"Worth all the difficulty in getting a reservation. Superb food, fresh ingredients, elegantly prepared, perfectly sauced and cooked. Friendly, non-pretentious ambiance and service. Front of the house is friendly and warm, service is personal, return customers are recognized. A wonderful place to have an awesome meal without all the hoop-de-doo at other Chicago "hot, restaurants" . The 9 course tasting menu leads the palate perfectly. Each dish is perfectly prepared and filled with tastes that excite the palate. Each course is substantial enough that 9 courses leaves ones feeling delightfully satisfied. The food shows off what a great chef can prepare, without being a production made to show off the chef. My number one restaurant in Chicago."

"It seems a little ironic to say that a nine course tasting memo at $115 is a steal. But it is. Each dish is a surprise and each one is delicious. The portion size is just right so that one is not full to bursting. And the pacing is also perfect. And the fact that the restaurant is byob means that you can be drinking fine wine without completely breaking the bank.
Hard to isolate which dish tastes better. The chestnut soup is high up there is the single perfectly cooked scallop. But the piece of duck with a crispy skin, and the filet of beef is right up there too.
The hostess is the Chef's wife and she provides a warm welcome, also checking to see that things move along. And the service is efficient and helpful. A special trea"

"Goosefoot is a terrific Pre-fix menu byob place. The goats milk cheese dish is terrific. As is the chestnut soup and the loup de mer. I would rate the food as good as Spiaggia but more like Elizabeth. Fun gastronomic dishes including lots of truffle and a dehydrated olive oil powder that packs flavor.
The pescatarian substitutions for the duck and beef dishes were probably the only courses that were not excellent and they weren't bad according to my pescatarian date.
Highly recommend especially for the price."
