Sosa Borella was established in 1995 in Tribeca. The first of two locations began as a quaint Italian-Argentinian Cafe that blossomed into a full service Restaurant, including lunch, dinner, brunch delivery service and off premise catering within two years of conception. Now, 8 years later Sosa Borella expands its recipe for wholesome food, large portions and great dining atmosphere with a personal touch to the pallets of Manhattans' Theater District.
With Sosa's keen sense of design, the clean lines give Sosa Borella an inviting open airy feeling the moment you walk through the door, and yet the comfort and style of a cozy Argentinean Estancia, are seen through the white walls, exposed beams and cement color stucco on the columns, the custom made dark wood tables, the soft glow of lampshade chandeliers, wall stacked with coffee bags, wines and Argentinean memorabilia.
The dress code at Sosa Borella is "New York" casual, which means you may find Christina Aguilera, J.Lo, Al Pac
"Food here is great, wait staff is terrific, wine is nice. Great for pre-theater dinner. (We've been here after theater too and that works well, as well)."

"We had been to Sosa Borella several times and it can be busy pre-theater but this time we had dinner at the bar and it was very nice. The bartender took very good care of us and it was just the right experience for the evening. The cerviche appetizer was great as was the Malbec. The menus offers something for every appetite."

"The place was cozy and charming but a bit too noisy to enjoy a conversation. The waiters aren't particularly attentive or professionally trained. They'll be talking to you to "try" to take orders while talking to other staffs; along with a little bit of language barrier, you need to repeat a couple of times before he could complete the order taking process. Overall the food was fine. A bit on the salty side, the freshly made pasta was good. The dessert espresso over chocolate ice cream was great and the flan was s little over done. It's a good place to catch a quick bite to eat before heading to a show but I wouldn't suggest to go there for a relaxing night out dinner."

"This restaurant on the main floor was boring, nothing special about the food, and the servie was terrible. I would not recommend nor go back, and I'm being generous."

"Went before the theater -- the waiter asked us about that possibility and assured us we would be served so getting to the show would not be a problem. The food was well prepared and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant."

"We chose Sosa Borella because of it's close proximity to the Gershwin Theater where we were seeing Wicked. We are very glad we chose to eat here! Both my husband and I enjoyed the dinners we ordered. First I have to say the bread they serve is fantastic! It was so good we ate it all and asked for more! They serve it with chimichurri sauce which is also very good. We started with the Picada which we shared. It was very good. I especially like the goat cheese and the Manchego. For our entrees, I ordered the Rosemary Lemon Chicken. I mainly chose it because it came with gorgonzola mashed potatoes and my husband ordered the parrillada. Both entrees were very good and came out piping hot! I hate when food comes out lukewarm. We would go back."

"Don't let the sign out front fool you ...The restaurant is charming inside and the upstairs dining area makes you feel like you are in New Orleans...The food was so flavorful and delicious.... What made it extra special was our waiter Philip. Great lunch experience.
Thanks Sosa Borella"

"We went for a pre-theatre dinner.. we got the meat and cheese platter, which was good...but not particularly imaginative. we also shared their crab ceviche appetizer which was really tasty. it had great acidity and punch. we both ordered the evening special of lobster ravioli. The pasta was well cooked, but the lobster inside was lacking in flavor or texture. the sauce was flavorful...but made with shrimp, which seemed a wee bit odd. But even with those negatives, it was an enjoyable plate of pasta. dessert was a somewhat uninteresting flan. the Carmel sauce could have used a little more time to...well...Carmelize. the service was excellent and they were very attentive to making sure we made our show with time to spare."

"On my own and wiyh friends and family, I have become a frequent customer. I found the waiter's unwillingness to substitute salad for a potato, particularly when another waiter had acceded to the same request at lunch the day before, most u generous and unattractive and it left me less anxious to return."

"My husband chose Sosa Borella for he and I to celebrate his 70th birthday. We had eaten there once before and been thrilled and were not at all disappointed this time. We had an early dinner reservation in order to get to the opera with plenty of time, and we were first seated in the upstairs dining room. Our waiter treated us as friends coming to his house for a meal and made us immediately feel relaxed and comfortable. (Ask someone to show you the 'raccoon'). We ordered a Grilled Calamari on Mesclun salad to share which was wonderful, then I had the Branzino special and my husband splurged on the Lobo (filet mignon). We tasted each other's and if you're wondering if the Lobo is worth that much money, go for it. It is to die for."

"The food here was fantastic! We ate here after seeing "Once". Not a bad walk at all. Delicious freshly made linguini with shrimp and lobster ravioli. The bread was outstanding, as were the martinis. Empanada appetizer was so flavorful. I would recommend this if you are looking for a good italian restaurant with a spanish flare."

"We stopped in walking through the neighborhood. What a pleasant surprise. Dinner was very good and reasonably priced. Very welcoming service staff. We enjoyed our meal enough to go back two nights later to explore the menu further. The second meal was equally as good. The aged strip steak with cimmichurra sauce was a treat."

"for the price of the lunch pasta dishes at $17, i would think they would serve fresh made pasta instead of boxed pasta. if i wanted ronzoni pasta i would expect the lunch pasta prices be be cheaper"

"Food was good, but menu was limited. I'd recommend the Grilled Mozzeralla as an appetizer. I also had the Strip Steak with a chimichurra sauce which was very good. A little pricey, though for a place that had $$ for the level of pricing. Two of us shared one appetizer, one salad, one entree, and I had one glass of wine. The bill came to over $90 before tip. Atmosphere was very plain."

"Not good for pre-theater. They couldn't get us out in 90 minutes and we did not have an appetizer. After delivering dessert, the waiter disappeared. The food is good and the space is nice, but the service (from the host to the waiter to the bus boys) was not great."

"Very nice ambiance and atmosphere. Food was excellent - definitely try the Grilled Mozzarella & Tomato and the Empanadas. Great food choices and drink list. Sangria was one of the best I have ever tasted and the foccacia bread with pesto sauce was excellent. They provided us with a very nice romantic Valentine's night."

"Staff was friendly and attentive, service was quick as we were having dinner before a show and time was important. Food was excellent. I have some dietary restrictions and asked the waiter if there was a salad without cheese since i did not see one on the menu, he brought a beautiful mesclun salad with a light dressing which was perfect. Very enjoyable"

"Very cute. Cosy warm atmosphere. Good food, well prepared, though not memorable. Good place to go in the theatre district before a show. We arrived early and spent a leisurely two hours. Would also be a good place after the show for a drink at the bar."
