"Mother's day dinner!!
Food was fresh, hot and generous. We had the Seafood Risotto and would have it again.
The complementary bread triangle was delicious.
Service was good and we didn't feel rushed.
Nice touch giving out red roses to the Mom's."

"Cozy ambience, wonderful dinners (1 veal and 1 prawns), perfect light dessert (creme brulee) and coffee that is strong and satisfying! Attentive wait staff and lively chatter round out this small but elegant space. Lovely!"

"I grew up eating Italian food and never enjoyed Italian food when dining out. Portobellos has amazing and unique Italian food, not just pasta.
My husband had the homemade gnocchi and meat sauce. He enjoyed the gnocchi and raved about the flavorful meat sauce. I had the veal Marsala and it was prepared to perfection.
I highly recommend this Italian gem. It is a small restaurant with no outdoor seating. The wait staff were very helpful and friendly."

"We met another couple for dinner. The service from beginning to end was extremely professional. The food while being good was definitely not stellar. Portions were large. The crème brule was excellent. I wouldn't plan a special occasion dinner here but"

"Excellent experience. Our server took into account we had theatre reservations and made sure we were served efficiently, without ever giving us a sense of being rushed. We had prociutto with melon--- huge servings - could really have been shared. Plenty of good quality prociutto and fresh ripe melon. Shared a green salad, with excellent vinaigrette, which was divided on plates, without us having asked. Then each of us had the mussels----which were very good with a tasty broth and they did not come to the table luke warm, as is so often the case with mussels. House white was reasonably priced and quite good. Would certainly return. Our server ran after us after we left to return sunglasses left on the table!"

"We missed Portobello when it moved from its previous location in Kitsilano a few years ago and were happy to rediscover it in South Granville. Its new location made it an ideal place for dinner before a recent show at the Stanley Theatre. The house wine was good and reasonably priced, the food well prepared and attractively served, and the service very good on a fairly quiet weekday evening."

"We enjoyed the food there. The only odd thing was the service. The waiter came to our table attempting to take our beverage order. A gentleman sitting at the next table then addressed our waiter by shouting over his cocktail order which prompted the waiter to leave us and attend to the guy at the next table and then making his cocktail. So we needed to wait for another 15 minutes bevor anyone came to take our order. We were pretty close to leaving at that time since we felt we were treated very rudely. I guess who shouts the loudest wins. As I said, the food was pretty good, but the bad service experience left a bad taste. Doubt that we'll go back."
