"We went on Mother's Day later in the evening to avoid the kids hours. Ironically, the table next to us that hade 6 older adults were extremely loud. The view is great if you get seated at the windows that line the whole building or eat outside. The oysters were big and delicious. Service was great, too."

"My husband and I decided that for our vacation this would be our celebration meal when it came to a recent graduation that occurred. It was well worth it! We each got the trio which included lobster tail, shrimp, and scallops. I forgo the scallops for more shrimp. The meal also came with vegetables and baked potato. It was really good. We also tried their gulf oysters because we had never had any before. They were also good. We also enjoyed the view even though it was pouring! Thanks for a great dinner. The service by the way, also fabulous!"

"A group of myself and five others went to dinner at the old oyster factory On Friday, May 3.
The waiter was excellent with a excellent memory. The food came out fast everybody loved the hush puppies... I thought they were underwhelming. I got the steamer clams and seafood gumbo. For my appetizers. The steamers were tasty but not what it's like up in New England. They only give you 12 or so. The gumbo was good. My girlfriend got the seafood Alfredo which she liked a lot. I got the broiled seafood supreme... It was okay. Overall I wouldn't give it tremendous marks were bad marks... But they seem like they do a lot of business and the is very nice even on a rainy day."

"Old Oyster Factory has warm ambiance in a large setting format. Tables at the windows have a great view of the water. Menu is varied and has something for everyone, with of course the seafood as the specialty. We had great service and each entree was highly rated, also had steamed and raw oysters as appetizers which were excellent. Moderate pricing for excellent food, will make the Old Oyster Factory a regular stop on any future Hilton Head visit."

"The food was good, overall. There was a mess up with the reservation and the request made. The Manager was very quick to address the issue and a generous offer was made to not only offer complimentary dessert but an adjustment on the bill. I declined, both, by the way because I think this is in poor taste as a customer. I should have been more specific upon check in . You cannot beat the location for dinner. We are a repeat customer. I hope to be back in Hiltonhead again and will defin. give this spot another try."

"The Old Oyster Factory has a beautiful location and of course some excellent local oysters (mine were from Beaufort). The rest of the food (we had the fried flounder and shrimp) was just barely adequate and far too expensive for what we got. I recommend you skip this place and go to the Crab House in Charleston instead which has outstanding seafood for half the price."

"We had a table for 11 (7 adults & 4 teenagers including one vegetarian) at 6:30 on a Friday night. The service was wonderful. We were seated quickly and our orders were taken promptly. The food was fresh, flavorful, and healthy tasting."

"View is spectacular! While we were there at a window table, three skulling teams put their 8 crew boats in the water; two rented boats docked; kayak group landed and birds flew all around. Our server was professional and the food was good - I had a naked fish - grouper with olive oil and lemon which was perfect. My only problem was how quick the service was. We were still enjoying our salad when our entrees were delivered. When you are enjoying a nice meal, it is better to have it spaced out well. It is a big restaurant and I am sure the sunsets are spectacular. It was chilly out so the outside area wasn't being used, but in the summer, that would be the place to be."

"I am hoping that maybe it was a one time bad experience for us so that's why I would still recommend the Old Oyster Factory to my guests. I am a local and work in the F and B Industry, mostly with tourists. Service is everything and when it isn't up to par it makes the dining experience negative. I asked our server if they had any dinner specials that night and she said yes but she wouldn't tell me them until the other two guests arrived at the table. I wanted to know the specials so I could decide what I wanted to eat and she decided I didn't need to know until she was ready. Put a damper on the whole evening. I also had said in my reservation that we had a birthday to celebrate but the server knew nothing about it. Disappointed for sure."

"First time to HHI -- Old Oyster Factory our favoritedinner of the trip! Too cold to sit outside -- but still had great views from indoors. Food was awesome -gumbo and scallops my favorite! Love that it wasnot surrounded by touristy area. Our waiter was wonderful!!"

"We recommend this restaurant. View was outstanding. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was A plus (even my daughter was perfectly happy). The calamari appetizer was very good as well as the BeefWellington appetizer. My seafood entree was excellent. We will be back. Our server was very attentive, but not annoyingly so."

"Compared to the other places we ate at while on vacation in Hilton Head, this was our least favorite. Food was just okay, and I expected more considering the prices. The crab dip was served barely warm and the salmon was over cooked. There are better options for same price."

"Have had a second home on HHI for years. Never visited OOF b.c always assumed was a "tourist trap". Not so! Good food, fabulous views and superior service. (Kari was awesome!) It's not cheap, so be forewarned. The 4 of us (2 kids, 2 adults), 2 apps, dinner and 2 glasses of wine each, $175 with tip! But we'll be back."

"The Oyster Factory was a pleasant surprise. Beautiful water views, excellent food and friendly servers. The seafood trio (lobster, shrimp & scallops)was excellent. Cooked perfectly. The beef filet and shrimp skewers were outstanding. Very tender beef and great shrimp. The baked potato was one of the best we have ever tasted. Apparently, it is crazy busy in season but we had no problem getting a same day reservation on a Saturday in March."
