"It has been several years since we visited Alexander's and we were delighted to find that the food and service are as outstanding as we remembered! Their unique presentation of shrimp and grits makes for a memorable treat and the diver scallops with lobster mac n cheese was wonderful. We biked up from South Forest Beach during Bike and Dine Week and really enjoyed our complimentary desserts."

"People right off the golf course, couples, larger groups of several couples, businesspeople, and surprisingly, accommodations for families with several babies and small kids (in what seemed like a glassed in porch with a view of the lagoon). They were able to enjoy their meals as a family and the more 'mature' diners were able to enjoy a relaxed and quiet dinner.
Our server, Andrea, was efficient, knowledgeable, and genial.
My scallops were delicious. My husband's steak was cooked to order. My only negative comment (which I seem to have at every restaurant I've tried in the South) is too much salt. My lobster mac & cheese and the spice topping on the steak were both a tad too salty."

"My husband and I were disappointed with our experience at Alexander's Restaurant. The moment we arrived we felt rushed. I had made reservations 4 weeks prior to visiting Hilton Head thinking that we would get a good seat. They sat us in the bar area where it was very noisy. Our waiter Brian was fast talking and energetic which set the pace for the evening. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:40 PM and was done and out the door at 7:30 PM. We didn't get a chance to unwind and relax. The food was good but not exceptional. I overheard other customers complaining about how crowded it was. Alexander's- live up to the southern way and slow down, let people relax and enjoy their meal!"

"The food was very good as usual. The presentation and taste is always outstanding. The only damper was the service because they were very busy. My wife drinks coffee with cream and sugar and we never got sugar and she drank the coffee unsweetened because the waitress did not return in a reasonable time an she did not want it to get cold. One of my guests wanted a take home box and she brought a bottom and top that did not fit together.
I will give them another chance for sure. Saturday is a very busy night."

"Alexander's was recommended to us by friends and during a recent trip to Hilton Head we had dinner at all 3 restaurants owned by this group. Alexander's was quite alright, it was just our least favorite of the three. The service was average, the food good, particularly the wiener schnitzel, which was surprisingly excellent. The ambience was ok. All in all a good choice, just not our favorite."

"Charming hostess met us at the door, polite and considerate of our elderly guests. Tony was our waiter...professional,amiable,knew the specials (may be part of his job, but so many don't know it's refreshing), his timing was perfect he and made perfect recomendations for both drink and food. Food...what to say, portions were perfect (almost too much) perfectly prepared and presented, chef obviously knows exactly what he is doing. This is our third visit to Alexander's over five years...we will go everytime we are I do not hesitate to recommend a visit to Alexander's to anyone."

"The restaurant is inside a community with a small parking lot. You can park across the street, but it wasn't clear where until we went into the restaurant. They have an early bird special which looked very popular. When we arrived the early bird diners were just finishing up which was good since there was an unhappy baby in one group who kept screaming.
The wine list looked good but contained wines I didn't know so it would have been helpful to have someone with some knowledge of the wines offer suggestions.
I had the sea bass special which was good - covered in sesame seeds with a sauce containing soy sauce and vegetables. The rice was bland.
My husband had crab cakes which he liked. The server was friendly but got too involved in talki"

"Food was very good, seafood perfectly cooked. We dine at Alexanders with our 2 year old grandson. The waiter took excellent care of us and Jack's dinner order went in ahead of ours. So he was eating while we enjoyed our wine. Thanks for a great meal and great service!"

"The food was wonderful. Surprisingly, the schnitzel (as ordered by friends) was excellent. As a frequent visitor to der Vaterland, I opted for the filet, which was excellent. THe wine list was extensive, with two price ranges. We enjoyed two bottles of Anne Amarie Pinot Noir which was also excellent (compliment to the schnitzel and beef). As compared with some much pricier Pinots, the Anne Amarie is a real find. Pricing was a bit on the high side, but the convenience, service, and overall dining experience are well worth it."

"It was a Tuesday night, very few tables were occupied. We arrived for our reservation and were seated in main dining room in corner table next to a boisterous quartet. Restaurant is on a lagoon and has a dining room with large windows overlooking the lagoon. It was sunset, with beautiful colors in the sky. Only two of the 20 or so tables along the canal were occupied. We asked to be seated instead at the window, and we were quickly accommodated. However, it seems a no-brainer that if one of your big draws is your scenic view, you would seat someone there without asking. Even so, with all the empty tables we were seated between the two tables. Just think they could be more aware.
Food good but not great, service outstanding."

"Very, very good food, lovely ambiance, and our waitress was gracious, energetic and efficient. Thanks so much. We will be back.The only slightly negative I could give you - by way of suggestion - we were served too muuch food. People now-a-days just don't need so much food. I would suggest half plates at a lower cost as many restaurants now do-at least up north. Please consider. Dawn Cooper"

"Our waitress was knowledgable and nice, but unfortunately our order got put in behind a group of 46, so it took an hour to get our entree. However, she gave us a free dessert for our patience. Also, the "laundry paper" tablecloth on top of the linen one was a nuisance and did not add to the ambience of an otherwise lovely, well appointed restaurant with great food.."

"Our favorite restaurant, Alexander's, always provides the best dining experience. It is our "go to" restaurant where the food and service are top notch. From the friendly hostesses that greet you, to the plate presentation, you know that you are in a fine dining restaurant. "Valentine's Evening 2013 - this was our first visit to Alexanders even though we have been going to Hilton Head Island for over 20 years. We were very impressed with the atmosphere (I would have given this five stars above, but for some reason, the computer would not let me choose that option), and the service! If you are a classic Harley Davidson fan, you'll see some amazing bikes on display. However, the atmosphere is still classy-casual - very comfortable! Fantastic food - especially the stuffed Mahi Mahi - stuffed with lobster, scallops and shrimp! Yum! Since it was cold, we didn't get a chance to experience their outdoor dining, but they have a beautiful area! Highly recommend!"

"This was a wonderful Valentines Day dinner for my wife and myself. Alexander's met all of my expectations. They had a Rose on the table as requested which made me a hit with my wife, fellow husbands ticked off because they didn't think of doing the same, wives of others envious. We had a few couples come up to our table and speak of how much we loved each other and that we were the best looking and happiest customers in the restaurant.The wait staff was super and the food outstanding.
A better choice I could not have picked for this day.

"We love going to Alexander's during our annual trip to Hilton Head. It feels like our special evening out. We think the early bird special is such a good deal. I always feel like the servers are disappointed in us for ordering it. I wish they would adjust their attitude a bit on that. We are generous tippers, but I guess they don't know that in advance!"
