III Forks, one of the nation's USDA Prime Steakhouses, is located at the Village Market in Lakeshore East, just north of Millennium Park in beautiful downtown Chicago. This modern restaurant is simply sizzling with style and provides the perfect setting for upscale dining, rooftop lounging, private parties and special events. III Forks is a contemporary evolution of the classic steakhouse featuring USDA Prime Beef, ocean-fresh seafood and locally sourced Midwest fare. Less than half of one percent of all US beef makes the III Forks Prime quality grade. This leads to great steaks that offer abundant marbling, juiciness, tenderness and superior flavor.
III Forks also offers an impressive venue for private affairs. Three private dining rooms will be available for corporate meetings, seated social gatherings and cocktail receptions. The rooftop lounge is also available for private parties of up to 150 guests.

"I visited III Forks twice last week for dinner. Both times we had very good food and excellent service.
On Thursday, I enjoyed Chilean seabass and my husband stopped just short of licking the plate of prime rib. On Thursday there were inconsistencies in the grill - my mediium rare filets were served medium well. The re-order came back as rare.
Our guest ordered lamb chops medium on the recommendation of the server. The chops were at different temperatures, though - the first was beyond medium, but the rest were mostly medium. In both cases - lamb and beef - the meat was very well seasoned and were good, flavorful cuts.
Everything else was great except the strong, cold breeze (indoors) that chilled our food."

"III Forks did not feel like your run of the mill steakhouse.The ambiance was soft the space light & airy & the views outstanding!Our table over looked a gorgeous park with large & beautiful sprawling buildings around it.While the steak was incredible which it should be because it is a steakhouse the bread served at the beginning of the meal was wonderful & our favorite part.The service was average however I say this because I believe it was due to a language barrier with our waitress.She had a hard time going over the menu with us & when my husband received his steak it was smaller than described.Having said that she did comp our dessert which was extremely thoughtful of her.We will certainly return & I will recommend this place to others."

"Love the glass window wall overlooking the Lakeshore East park, which is a park I think most Chicagoans haven't discovered yet. We had a lovely dinner, the wedge salad is fabulous, the steaks were very good and the dessert (can't remember the name, a white layer cake with pecans or walnuts) was delish. Service was not great in comparison to most Chicago steakhouses where the waitstaff is extremely confident, knowledgable and polished. Here it seems like everyone is new and not always sure how to answer questions. Hopefully this will improve with time. The rooftop bar is a lovely place for a nightcap."

"Our filet mignons were well seasoned and prepared to our specifications, but not as tender as others I have had. The six cheese potatoes were very good, albeit somewhat salty. Bacon wrapped scallops appetizer was passable, but the scallops did not seem totally fresh and the bacon was not crispy enough. Our waiter was cordial, but seemed harried at times, perhaps working too many tables at once. Ambience was a tad loud for my taste, but I suppose is to be expected for a restaurant of this size. Not an upleasant experience in any regard, just not superlative either. And at this price point in this town, one does not have to settle for less than excellence."

"I took a chance coming to a new restaurant, but my wife, son and daughter each very much enjoyed the outing. I was getting a bit concern because my wife is essentially vegan and my daughter is vegetarian and the whole menu was not offered because it was Mother's day. They were very accommodating and put together offering for my wife and daughter that were very tasty and made them feel special. We had a terrific time and looking forward to going back.

"The service at III Forks (we were served by Jon 'Michael') was excellent. He was a top notch professional. The food was an A-, in my opinion. The meats were not as tender as some other steaks I've had (ie bone-in medium well and NY strips), but the sides and desserts were delicious. Top tier restaurant."

"We have eaten at this restaurant before, but the food was completely off this time. We returned the Chilean Sea Bass because is was so poor, and I should have returned my NY Strip that was about 1/4' thick and over cooked. It is really disappointing because we have ordered the same meal there before and it was outstanding. Consistency is not III Forks strong point. We wont give them another chance for the price."

"I thought we would have a great time outside on the roof since the weather was so nice, but for our group, it was just ok. Service was slow. It took 20-25 mins to get our first round of drinks. Food was decent, but nothing special. Just really disappointed as I had heard good things about this place."

"I have been to most of their restaurants accross the country. The food as always was great. The drinks were also good. The restaurant was not too loud. I like that the dining area is dark and cozy. The general manager is always around and comes by each table to ensure that your experience was great. The private rooms are just that and they provide and entire team that is dedicated toy you and your party. Make sure to go to the rooftop deck afterwards or just stop by the rooftop deck to have a few cocktails. I love this place, had a great time. The food and the service was great."

"My wife ordered the petite filet and wanted it pink with a little bit of red in the middle (medium to medium rare depending on where you go and who you ask). The waiter asked how our meals were and she mentioned it was in the acceptable range but didn’t want him to take the food so we could enjoy dinner together. After several attempts to see why the meal was not great he took her plate anyway and had them prepare another filet. In the mean time my meal is getting cold as I didn’t want to eat without her. Needless to say they rushed the second filet and it came out almost rare. The waiter once again took it back to be cooked some more but now it is cut in 2 and came back cooked more but it just wasn't the same."

"I am a huge fan of 3 forks, however I had a bad experience. I ordered a filet mignon medium well and it was almost rare. Second, they put my steak back on the grill instead of bringing a new one. Next my boyfriend ordered a cocktail and it did not taste like there was any alcohol in it. I didn't expect a drink to be filled with vodka, but the drink tasted like straight sprite. And lastly, most restaurants will comp an item or dessert for the inconvenience. Regardless I still like the restaurant, just had a bad night there."

"My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and had the most pleasant experience. I made the reservations online and specified were celebrating our anniversary. When we were seated there was a frame at our table that said Happy Anniversay with our name and date on it. Very classy. The waitress was very nice and informative. She told us what to expect when ordering our food as far as the wait time for our food. So everything went very smooth. Even when they brought out the wrong entree and I started eating it unknowingly, the right entree was hastily brought in. I loved this place. For dessert they brought out a fancy plate that said happy anniversary- red velvet cake!! Highly recommend this place. A little loud, but overall SUPER!!!!!"

"I became acquainted with III Forks when I coordinated a friend's wedding. For the wedding, salmon was one of the entrees and it was delicious. I brought my 12 year old son back because he is a beef lover. He loved the croustades, his steak and the tomatoes that are offered as part of the dinner. I enjoy the atmosphere, the view, the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, and the food. This is a great find for couples, families and a girl and/or guys night out."

"Food was okay, but definitely not great. French onion soup was extremely salty and the steaks (we had the filet and NY strip) were just average. The drinks were nothing special either and switched to wine. The service was very good, no complaints there. I don't mind spending a little extra at a restaurant if the food is worthy of the price, which unfortunately was not the case. Good experience but probably wouldn't return."

"I have been to the one in Dallas, and the chicago one a few times. III Forks has a very contemporary design, simplistic, but yet elegant.
The views for the tables along the large Windows make dinning enjoyable.
The wine list and offerings is expansive and impressive. The food here is amazing. We had the prime rib, cooked to perfection, excellent cuts of meat, very high quality. We also ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, again cooked and season perfectly, with fresh spinach and rice. One phrase for desert...."bread pudding" Best in the city. The real gem here though is the roof top dinning available as the weather gets better."

"We dined with a large group while in town for business and we ordered a la carte off the menu. We ordered salads, shrimp cocktail, and the lobster bisque for appetiziers which were all equally good. We did not have any of the seafood for our entrees but chose from the ample steak offerings - ribeye, strip, prime rib, filet mignon - all were fantastic and cooked to order. The sides were just as good-cream corn, fresh asparagus, spinach, and mashed potatoes. I must mention that the service was awesome during our dinner and the hostess made sure we were able to get cabs back to our hotel when it was time to go. They even called me the next day to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and got back safely - nice touch!"

No dice, very fishy and chunky, almost chowder-like, not smooth and creamy as it should be. None of our food came out at the same time and it was just myself and my husband! Service seemed awkward. Menu, all ala'carte which made it worse for timing and cost. Waitress forgot our asparagus TWICE! Very overpriced,still was busy on a Saturday night. I had the prime rib, good but fatty and not worth the $35.00. My husband had scallops. 8 small lonely scallops on a plate for $29.95(did have wonderful lemony butter sauce on them) Beautiful place, next door to us so it convenient. Maybe outside on the roof in the summer will be better"

"Great beef can be had anywhere, it's just a matter of cost ($395). At the end of the day, beef is beef; leaving only the service. This restaurant gets a D+ (although the waitress did a good job, she needed just a little more training, polish). Our main beef (pardon the pun)?: I called twice and gave the reason for our (first ever) patronage of the restaurant: Wedding Anniversary & St. Valentines, combined.
Not once during the entire experience did anyone congratulate us. Not even a cup cake with a candle on it. Sorry guys, nice and expensive looking restaurant. You could have flown, instead you walked it. (At Morton's, they print a personalized menu for patrons who simply answer "why are you patronizing us?" during reservation"
