"TOO MUCH UPSELLING. Felt we were being pushed out at the end. Don't like the check being taken off the table after we've paid and signed and tipped, but before we have left. Tuna was the only good thing. All the sides were too oily or tasteless."

"Make sure to read the fine print if you go with your $30 birthday coupon. You can use it except for Mon through Thurs. Since my work hours don't permit me to go to Benihana's during coupon days, we didn't get any discount. Because I always order the Hibachi Supreme it comes with an ice cream so no free ice cream either."

"You shouldn't have to wait 40 minutes for a table if you made a reservation. Hostesses seemed unapologetic. Chef was fun, kids loved both the preparing of the food and the taste of the food. They did make my 8 year old's day by bringing an ice cream sundae with a rendition of "Happy Birthday" in English and Japanese. Taking a photo and printing it out in a frame for a keepsake was a nice touch. Once seated, staff was very accommodating. But that doesn't excuse poor management."

"I took my mom here for Mother's Day. My mom and I don't see eye to eye on much, but we found something to agree on at Benihana! The people sitting at our table were all friendly, the chef- his name was Aki- was talented, charming, and could really work a crowd. From what I saw, all the chefs were like that. The waitress was great too, she stayed on top of everything, and was also charming with a great personality and sense of humor. I just really, really enjoyed myself, and it took a lot of the pressure off ME to make sure my mom had a good mother's day. I'm glad I went to Benihana."

"This is at least our 10th time to Benihana's and our 3rd time at this location. The food as well as the show performed by the chef were amazing as always.Our 5 year old daughter was blown away by the tricks the chef does with the food. They also make "kid chopsticks" which are chopsticks bound together with a rubber band so that kids can use their sticks without a struggle. The wait staff was on point and attentive without hounding you. The prices are a bit high but considering you are getting a show with your meal it is worth it. Be prepared to spend some time there as our dinner lasted about 2 1/2 hours although we were all amazed it was that long as time flew by with the entertaining show Great for a special occasion with a large group"

"Service left a lot to be desired. When my group was seated, the group in front of us was still eating. We saw this group order desert, pay their bill. We then saw the table cleaned and a new group seated. This second group actually had their food prepared before ours even though we were seated and placed our order before them. When we noted this to our server the order numbers were checked but no apology was made even though we were told we were correct."

"I have been to Benihana's several times and this is the second time that I have received very poor and very slow service. Even with reservations it took at least another 20 minutes to be seated. After being seated it took another 20 minutes for the waitress to show up. She didn't know anything about the items on the menu even though I have seen her work there for years. Why you can't get a lunch item in dinner version is beyond me. I like Benihana's, but it is really a hit or miss with the service."

"A great place to go to meet new people and make new friends, have done this as a result of several visits over the years.
I had the Spicy Seafood Diablo, I have had this only a couple times over the last year and each prior experience was very good.
I was distracted talking to the people at the Table, so I did not watch it being made to know if I am mistaken or not, but that was the impression I was left with that it has changed."

"Because Benihana is so popular I expected the quality of the food to be fairly high. What I received was cubed steak and chicken served lukewarm and quite dry. The presentation was not up to par to most Japanese restaurants I've visited which were less expensive. My dish was not cheap ($36). I don't know about lunch, but for dinner I will not return."

"The food and ambiance was great the only problem I had was that I believe that the tip should fit the service given we ordered appetizers and the hostess forgot to place order and charged us full price for the appetizers because the order was placed after happy hour. "I've been with both children and adults, and I have to say its way more fun going with a kids! My husband and I took our 5 year old and were seated with another family with their two kids around the same age. By the way our table was reacting to the chef I noticed other tables (full of adults) looking over their own chefs shoulder to see what ours was doing. And the food is amazing so it is worth the price b/c your getting a show with dinner."

"Everything is fine. The only issue I have is that food is not served to everyone at same time. It was awkward for me being the first one served. I did not want my twin lobster tails to get dry and cold. I started to eat them even before my husband was served his meal. I understand the difficulty in timing of the cooking.
Perhaps their should be two chefs at on table to move it along for quicker service to the family."

"As usually the food was great. We were a party of 5 and shared with a party of 3. One couple got the steak (filet mignon and chicken) with chicken fried rice and it was more than enough food for 2.Our chef Enrique was wonderful and funny. It was my birthday and they did the song and ice cream with candle and the picture. The only thing that was a drag, is we had a 6:30PM reservation, got there 10 minutes early and was seated about 7PM. This seems to be the case every time we go, even on weekdays. They apologized for running late."

"For the average diner this spot may be a little on the pricey side, but it is well worth it, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion or have never experienced this type of dining. You definitely receive enough food to justify the cost and if you join "The Chef's Table" the birthday coupon that they send you is very generous! We took my mother-in-law here to celebrate her 85th birthday as she had never been to a Benihana's before, so it was a very memorable birthday dinner for her and the photo that they gave us to commemorative this dinner was great!!"

"Had an 8 pm reservation, wasn't seated until 8:45! Food and ambiance is always good, but if you have somewhere to go after eating here make sure to give ample time beforehand. Everytime I eat at this encino restaurant, I'm always waiting 30-45 min after my reservation!"

"Cook must have been new. He made a big deal about seperating the meat from the vegetables(one of the party does not eat beef,chicken, pork or turkey..only fish). He made a comment about that person not being able to have vegetables as he had to cook the chicken next to them. Someone in the party said no...that person paid for vegetables, so they should get them... he finally cooked only the veges for that person... put them on the plate ... then did the rest...first ones cold before person got food. He cooked the food good...just slow...2 hours. We have been there before....always was wonderful."

"Been several times. This was for my young son's birthday. Restauarant easily accomodated a last-minute change in size of party and reservation time. Always a solid experience. Kids enjoy it. Food is reliable. Waitress was hard to understand. Chef did a fine performance."

"Putting little kids right in front of the entrance to the kitchen is a recipe for disaster. The grandchildren loved it - the servers really didn't. The place is too busy and too crowded for anything more than a kid fest on Sunday nights."
