"We made our reservation on March 4th (75 days in advance). Why is it that when we reserve through Open Table we are generally seated at the worst table in the house? We asked to be moved and were reseated where it would appear that a private function was taking place. The food was very good but this sort of experience makes returning to the venue a very questionable debate."

"This restaurant used to have some class. I remember going there for special occasions. Now it looks rundown and uncared for. No ambiance at all. The food was decent but not memorable. We had to ask for our bread. Over the years have probably gone about 10 times to the various locations but won't be going again."

"When I made the reservation on line it said nothing about a restrictive brunch. When we found out we had no other choice but the brunch, we agreed to give it a try but the food was very ordinary. Not what I expected from the Boathouse, a restaurant that I usually like. The service was also slow although the server was very pleasant."

"We went there on Mothers Day for brunch buffet. We just think it's not worth it to spend $39.99 per person for the foods they have. Not much varieties. We are chinese, we perfer hot warm foods for breakfast. They have more colds foods than hot foods. Any other brunch buffets we've been had provided soups, but not at the boathouse, we were kind of shock. Seafoods are fresh, but I would say the taste of them are soso. We were disappointed they don't offer complimentary coffee or tea. It cost $4cdn for a cup of tea. I think if you don't care about the price but do like brunch buffet, you should go buffet in a 5-stars hotel. Overall, we rather go dim sum next time, cheaper, taste better, and mom prefers it."

"The Boathouse offers a dependable menu of steak and seafood options. If you're looking for a good steak and tasty shrimp, you've made the right choice, though the other seafood options are fine as well.
It's a good choice to introduce youth/children to a more formal dining experience. We've been bringing our kids (now 16 and 14) since they were 10 and 8. The kid's menu remains true to The Boathouse's seafood theme, including among the usual options a salmon-and-fries combo that can help expand an adventureous young palate.
Crowd noise, while not boisterous, doesn't make for a particularly sedate experience. However, The Boathouse's reputation for seafood and their central location mean they'll be popular for years to come."

"We are reasonably regular customers of Boathouse. Recently we have arranged group meals there twice. This time it was just the two of us. We were seated in the main dining room in a booth. The sun was shining in the windows. It revealed the fact that the wooden divider (that runs parallel to the windows) was really dusty. We mentioned it to our waiter and he acknowledged that it was bad. I am convinced he didn't tell anyone (ie a manager) which, in my opinion, is what he should have done. We enjoyed our meal but sort of wonder if the Richmond restaurant is on a downward trajectory. It wasn't as busy as one might expect on a Saturday night. We miss Gerry. The personality is just not there anymore."

"The staff accommodated our request for a quieter table for our lunch meeting. The waitress was mindful that it was a business lunch and kept interruptions to a minimum. Lunch was served promptly, and we were able to focus on the discussion. We recommend going to the The Boat House in Richmond because it's one of the few restaurants that has good lighting, a menu that can suit most everyone, and sufficient FREE parking."

"The food and service were both great. We ordered off of the lobster fest menu. I had the steak and stuffed lobster 3 course meal, while my partner ordered steak and whole lobster. Both were delicious.
Two things that would have made our dining experience perfect:
1) Serve the lobster bisque hot. My soup came lukewarm.
2) Offer consistent lighting within the restaurant. The corner that we were seated at was incredibly dark compared with the seats around us."

"I had made a reservation for the Kits Boathouse on Feb 16 through OpenTable and received a confirmation through email for 12:00 on Mar.2 On March 1st I got a reminder with the time being 4:00. I called the Kits Boathouse and was told that their was a large booking and no reservations were being taken for lunch. I suggested the Richmond Boathouse and the manager at Kits called there and we got excellent service and a reduction on our bill. I appreciate the compensation for the booking error. It is too bad that the system didn't work for us."

Complimentary bread was nice & hot, but never astked if we wanted more. In fact after we finished our bread, the bread container and butter was taken away. Makes me wonder if there is a charge for extra bread, which a restaurant shouldn't do. Bad PR, especially as I find prices here on the high side.
Lobster bisque was warm, not hot. We were not the only ones, the table behind us also had warm soup, but they asked that the soup be warmed up. We let it go.
Had the Thai Lobster Bowl. Sauce was good, plenty of vegetables and cooked perfectly, but prawns were overcooked. Not good as your specialty is suppose to be seafood. Mud pie too soft, melting ice cream. Sorry, not coming back."

"We made reservations late enough to miss the early dinner crowd and we got a table for two beside the servers station and spent the first 10 minutes listening to dishes crashing before asking for another table. They accommodated us and put us in right front of the kitchen, better but lost the chances of a nice dinner for two!
Wine and appy was good but steaks were Sirloin cut with grizzle throughout. It's been years since visiting this boathouse and will be years before we come back."

"It was a group dinner for my friend's birthday, and the restaurant kindly put us in a separate area. The restaurant looked dated comparing to its other locations, but most of us thought the food surprisingly exceeded what we had expected from Boathouse. The lobster and crab ravioli was amazing! The price had also gone up from what we had remembered. The service was prompt and efficient, but the waitress was a bit pushy at times as if she thought we didn't order enough. Overall a good experience."

"My server was great but i was not impressed by other staff. Another staff member brought our appetizer soups but we didn't have any spoons. I couldn't see our server and tried waving at another staff. One specific gentleman clearly saw me wave and even made eye contact but purposely ignored me! In addition to this rude behaviour, I tried to order mojitos but was told the fruit was not in season. That's understandable but then do have it on the drink menu. I then ordered a chichi and belini but then was informed that the machine was broken! Finally i decided to order a white wine sangria. I didn't really like it because it tasted like orange juice with fruit and a little bit of alcohol."

"I hadn't been to the Boathouse in 20 years, and was pretty much taking a chance. I booked for 6 people for my wife's birthday. The service was excellent, our server was genuine, informed and appropriate. The food was fantastic, I had the seafood pasta and it was delicious. Everyone else at the table really enjoyed thier meals. It was reasonable too, for six it came to $150 including drinks. I will be back"

"The worst experience in my entire life - would you wait for an hour for your food? and I didn't exagerrate my wait time. We booked a table at 7pm, and arrived at 7pm. The table wasn't ready until 7:15pm (which is still reasonable); ordered our food by 7:25pm, appetizers (soup and salad) arrived at 7:30pm. Then we waited until 8:45pm to get our entree. And the food wasn't good either - my sirloin was overcooked, my dad's grilled salmon was dry as charcoal.
Complained to the manager, and he said it was the reception at an earlier time and had everything pushed to our time slot. As a manager, you should know when your kitchen staffs are at their maximum work capacities. Don't overbook yourself. I, for one, will not be back anymore."

"We came here for the Dine out menu with a coworker. Though the appetizers were good, one of us didn't get their Caesar salad long after we had finished ours. And the food came out lukewarm instead of hot. The seafood chowder and lobster bisque were flavourful and rich, but the calamari was only warm and a little bland.
I had the lobster and crab ravioli which was very rich and tasted very good, and my friends had no complaints about the sirloin or the lobster curry bowl."

"I always go to The Boathouse Richmond location because out of ALL the locations that I've been to, this one for some reason has the best seafood (perhaps of the chef). Any how, I have never been disappointed (knock on wood) whenever I go there and for any special occasion, Boathouse Richmond is my go-to place. Definitely worth every penny!"

"The server that was serving me didn't have much smile. She was fast serving and make me feel like she was rushing me through the dine out. At the end when I was paying with my visa and when I was inputting in the my password and not quite done she already grab the machine away from me.
Also I was quite disappointed with the mud pie. I had order it in the past before but, the one I had at the dine out was nothing like it. When I asked the server she said it was a second recipe they use for the dine out. Which I thought it was weird because the point of dine out is to try the original recipe of the food and attract people to come back."

"Went for my daughter's birthday, our server and dinner was excellent. However, we waited a long time for our dinner to be served (1 hour). My daughter received her soup, my son-in-law and I did not get ours until the server came back to check on us (20 mins later). I ordered the Thai Lobtster and Prawn Bowl, it was excellent, however, it came without the prawns and I had to request them."

"Made a rez a week prior. Still had to wait 10 min to be seated. Specifically asked for dining room but got seated in lounge. Hostess sat us there as they were late seating us. Hostess came back to let us know there was a table available in dining room but we had settled already. Big mistake staying in lounge. Server took 5 min to get to us. Ordered bottle of wine and our meal. Server disappeared for a good 10 min. Had to go back to hostess to let her know that we haven't even gotten water and that I don't know where our server went. Still waiting for wine. The bar was right they're across from us. Asked to be moved to dining room. Also another server brought us a soup spoon. We didn't order soup. Was not impressed with service in the loung."
