208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar Reviews List

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"We were seated 1/2 hour after our reservation. And then no one came to the table for another 10 minutes. When the server came, she immediately took our order, but we didn't have water for another 10 minutes. She rushed us when she came by and then disappeared for long periods of time. The food was good. But the service left a lot to be desired."

"We went for a romantic dinner and were thoroughly impressed. The food was very rich and presented beautifully. The fried oyster appetizer was simply the best ever. The chef's take on caesar salad was a bit curious. The service was good. Overall, for the price, we felt very satisfied."

Review 7 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"We have dined at Talbot 208 in the past and the food, along with the service has always been good. Both the service and food were below par.Service was very slow, the waiter did not follow up and check to see if there were additional needs. The food was mediocre at best.We ordered wine from the pairing menu and the wine pours were very small. This restaurant has enough competition in St. Michaels and Easton that there will be no need to dine here in the near future."

Review 9 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"Service was very nice, food overall was sub par.
Menu was heavy on meat, even the accompaniments to salads or fish had meat in the dish.
Sauce on the mushroom eggroll was inedible while the eggroll it self was good.
Apple dumpling was inedible as well thank god for the ice cream!
Sorry you guys!

Review 10 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"If you are dinning in St. Michaels, look no further. 208 Talbot offers just the right mix of relaxed elegance and fabulous food. The rissoto was among the best I've ever had and the poached pear salad was as appealing to the eye as the palate. The service was professional and attentive while still maintaining that small town warmth and charm. We took advantage of the prix fixe option which was an amazing value. We enjoyed cocktails, a delicious four-course dinner for two, a bottle of Oregon’s finest Pinot Gris and cappuccino with dessert for less than $150 total. The Saturday evening we dined at 208 Talbot, it was a full house. Just to be safe, I suggest you call a few days in advance for reservations."

Review 11 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"We were seated by the entrance to the kitchen when there were numerous other locations available that would have been better. The service staff were very helpful and friendly. Our menu selections were ok, but not rising to the level of the hype about this restaurant receiving international aclaim as stated in local media and ads. Overall we had a pleasant dinner, but not one worth repeating when we go back to St. Michaels which has many other restaurant choices to try. One final note, the menu had a fixed price of $20.80 for entrees, but then charged extra for each add-on. A true pre-fixe menu would have had one price for a three course dinner, not a complicated add-on for each additional course."

Review 12 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"We visited 208 Talbot as a special occasion to celebrate my mother's birthday and it was perfect. The three of us opted to have the 3-course menu and it proved to be a wise choice.

We had the caesar salad and the poached pear salad. Both were excellent but the caesar had the addition of crispy pancetta which made it the stand-out. For dinner, lamb tagine and beef shortribs were chosen and both were very ample portions and delicious. The bread which is provided is delicious and wonderful for soaking up dinners flavors. For dessert, chocolate molten cake, berry shortbread and creme brulee - of those, the chocolate was the standout followed by the creme brulee.

Service was terrific. Overall, great for casual or special occasions.

Review 13 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Excellent food, friendly and efficient servers and hostess. Couldn't ask for a better dining experience. Would have preferred that the mushroom soup could be served in a cup vs. a bowl...but, it was so delicious I finished it all! Ambiance was inviting, tasteful comfortable, and had soft lighting...added to the pleasure of the moment."

Review 16 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"My wife and I went to the 208 Talbot for New Years Eve dinner. They offered a very nice four course dinner. Everything I had was very good.My only complaints were the jumbo crab cake was not what I would consider jumbo size and there was a cool draft coming from the fireplace next to where I was sitting. Otherwise and great experience."

Review 17 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"The food was a little expensive for the quality. Selections were limited in number and not too exciting. The special appetizer, crusty chicken livers, and risotto were slightly heavy and the risotto was too salty. The serving of salmon was a little too small to cook evenly and was overdone. Lentils were interesting and quite good but there were too many compared to the amount of salmon. I generally feel the food, wine, menu and friendliness are better at Ava's and the value is much better. Only the ambiance (the numerous small rooms, music and atmosphere) at 208 is superior."

Review 18 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"This restaurant has undergone a change of ownership and to be honest, our first expeience following the change was less than positive especially considering that it used to be our favorite restaurant in town. They ran out of fuel for the kitchen (propane) and we had to find another restaurant for that evening's dinner. Subsequent to that initial experience we felt that they were searching for their identity and had not found it (perhaps six months after the change in ownership). But now for the good news. We discovered that a real reformation has taken place and the menu, food preparation, ambiance and service were all very good. We will surely return in the near future and are happy that an old favorite can become a current favorite."

Review 21 for 208 Talbot Restaurant & Wine Bar

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Our waiter Dennis was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. We started dinner with vodka martinis which were brought to the table quickly. My wife had the Beet Salad with Goat Cheese, which was excellent. For appetizers we both had the Fried Oysters, which were very good. For dinner entrees, my wife had the Lobster Risotto, and I had the steak special. Both were excellent. For dessert I had the Chocolate Macadamia Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream. It was very rich and chocolaty. Yummy! Dinner took about 2 hours which was just about right for us. Dinner entrees were $20.80 on their winter menu. Overall we really enjoyed our dining experience. The dining rooms are very comfortable."
