"Fortunately we had a groupon to this place or else I would have been really upset. After paying over $30 for ginger lobster I expected it to be really good. It was actually extremely basic, I could get much better food at the basic Chinese takeout place, which is where I will be going from now on. My fiance's curry lamb chops weren't very flavorful either. We gave it a try because of the groupon, but we won't be going back"

"Went on a Monday night, so it was very quiet. The food was good, as was the service. They put us in the window, so we got a nice view of Boylston. More expensive then I would usually spend (~$25 a plate), but then again, I'm a college student."

"Typhoon Bistro is a very nice pan Asian restaurant. It is pretty with white tablecloths and a small outside area with tables. The best things we had were the sauteed scallops and the flambe dessert. A Japanese style seafood soup was not too flavorful but the ingredients were very fresh. The chopped chicken in lettuce leaves appetizer was so so and the eel unagi was also good but not the best we've had. Overall, though, the service was excellent and we had a good time. The prices also seem a bit high but it is in the heart of the Back Bay so that's what's normal around there. Overall, I would go back."

"Went with my daughter since we were on vacation there. Would love to go with my husband and indulge in cocktails. Nice ambience with a ton of different (colorfully attractive) liquors! Great variety of Asian foods - not just Japanese/sushi. Meal was very enjoyable. Food and service were both great. My only issue was that it seems to be on the small side, so tables feel cramped together. However, this was across from bar... perhaps in the main rooms it is better? Where we were sitting, there was a draft from the front door so it was cold, and we were surrounded by tables with loud talkers so it was difficult for us to hear each other (and not eavesdrop). If I'd gone with my husband, I'd insist on a different table."

"Rock solid place for a good selection of well prepared Asian foods at decent prices. Service is as expected and your water glass is filled within moment of drinking. Outdoor dining is a plus..."

"The food wasn't too bad. My date and I went because of a groupon ($45 for an app, 2 entrees and dessert) and found it to be a good deal. I would not pay full price for a meal here because I feel the quality and quantity were lacking. Yoki has similar prices and food and far better portions and sushi quality. I would recommend Typhoon if you have a groupon, are in the Boylston area and have a sweet tooth for fried ice cream (delicious!)."

"We went last Saturday for a bachelorette party and had a great time! The food was so delicious and the service was great. They accommodated our large party of 14 with no incident. I would come back in an instant. The orange chicken is to die for and so is their sushi!"

"This was our second time here, and it was light years better than the last time. I attribute part of the fact that we ordered the Black Pearl: a sushi/sashimi boat that barely fit on the table. The best thing is the yellowtail. The service was slow despite the fact that there were several servers and few customers, but when we got our food, we had a great and memorable meal."

"I went to use up a Groupon I'd purchased. The Groupon was very valuable, as we got $81 worth of food for $45. However, I would not go back unless I had another Groupon. The quality of the food was good, but the portions were small, so the value isn't there."

"The food at this place is decent and so is the service. However, the whole set-up at the restaurant is a fire hazard. There is no space between tables for people to walk through or even for the waiters/waitresses to reach the tables. It sia disaster waiting to happen in case of an emergency."

"The food was not good at all. The meant-to-be medium rare lamb rack was fully cooked and my husband's entree was just barely warm. The portion was really small, and it didn't worth the money at all, even at the discounted price."

"We had reservations but when we arrived we were given a table in the front where it was quite cold. There was a space heater in this area and it was not getting the job done. Others that walked in behind us, without reservations, were given a table in the warm area of the resturant.
I ordered my steak rare and while it came out rare it was ice box cold in the middle; rare steaks are not served this way! The vegetables on the plate were also rare, they were not cooked; hard and crunchy!
The service was also quite unattentive."

"The Sushi was superb. It was fresh and beautifully presented. The service was excellent with a waiter who was attentive, yet quiet and non intrusive. They are lucky to have this young man. The one negative was the Fried Ice Cream. Either the Chef did not know how to make it or the cooking oil was not hot enough. I any event, the Fried Ice Cream was greasy to the point the grease could be seen dripping from the dough. The dough was also undercooked. So, bottom line.....get desert somewhere else."
