The What If... of Hershey, is located in the sweetest place on earth, Hershey, Pennsylvania. Make your way down the warmly lit steps to our relaxed menu at the bar, and begin with our famous house infused martini made with fresh squeezed juice. "We enjoyed a Mother's Day dinner at What If, and had a good time. We had our two grandchidren with us and they were accommodated well. We were seated in the banquet room where there was plenty of space for our party. The boys were entertained by coloring provided by the restaurant while we ordered and waited for our dinners. They also had a good children's menu with popular and nutritional food choices. Our food choices were great, too. Three of our party enjoyed the osso boco and it was excellent. Our food was served in a timley manner, not too fast or slow. Prices were reasonable considering the quality. We would definitely recommend this restaurant."

"Filet moignon pricey and really no flavor to it at all. Lobster ravioli was ok. Tirimasu was the best part of the meal. Restaurant located in the basement of a HoJo Motel. It's dark & small but nicely decorated. The temp in the restaurant was very cold- everyone was wearing sweaters. The couple sitting next to us even commented on how cold it was."

"We are in the Hershey/Harrisburg area five or six times a year for various conferences and have yet to find a restaurant with better food, service and consistency than "What If".
Our latest entrees consisted of the Pesto Shrimp, Crab Alfredo, Striped Bass, Filet, and Crab Cakes. All were superior in quality, taste and presentation.

"We have dined at what if for years and are generally not disappointed. This weekend it was really loud, many kids and a few really loud patrons which ruined the otherwise sedate atmosphere. It was busy so our service wasn't as good as usual but overall we enjoyed ourselves as usual!"

"Visiting from out of town, this restaurant was an incredible find for an early dinner before the theater. It came recommended by our hotel & Trip Advisor. Great adult atmosphere, attractive & comfortable, well attended by locals on a week night. Food was perfectly prepared, service efficient & friendly. The adjacent bar very popular, but separate from restaurant. Just downstairs from HoJo's, but directly accessible. We will definitely return to What If on our next trip to Hershey."

"This is the second year my family has celebrated my 70 ish mother's birthday at What If? A party of nine fits very well into What If's party table/nook. The menu and wine list are broad enough to satisfy all nine of us and the food is excellent. The waiters at What If are attentive without hovering or too formal, a plus for a mixed age group. My husband and I have had romantic dinners at What If and have stopped in for drinks at the bar. We also have taken our immediate family, including two teenage boys there. The bar is quiet and separated from the dining area. The restaurant serves both the locals and vacationers to Hershey Park, we have seen families with young children dining there. It is too pricey for very young children."

"I think people may overlook this restaurant because it's located in the lower level of a Howard Johnsons. However, don't be fooled by this. We were told by our server, that Howard Johnsons doesn't own this restaurant. This restaurant was excellent. The food was prepared perfectly and delicious. We each ordered a special: a grilled pork chop and the filet with a crab meat sauce. Both were excellent. Desert was tiramisu, again, excellent. Prices were very reasonable and they also have a nice wine list. Our server, Leann, was very sweet and personable. I would highly recommend this restaurant!"

"The food was excellent! We had the shrimp appetizer and Mediterranean Mahi. We were there on Feb. 15. I don't recall if both of these items were specials or regular menu items. Both should be regular menu items! Our server was very pleasant and personable. There were 4 people in our party. No one was in a hurry, but I think service was a little too slow. It took 2 1/2 hours without dessert."

"Overall it was great! The seafood part of my land and sea was very good, but my steak was overcooked a bit and on the dry side. The lobster ravioli was fantastic!
I was a little taken aback when I ordered the land and sea entree and the waitress told us the price would be a few dollars more than the menu stated. It was a special night and we just wanted to enjoy it and did not say anything about either complaint at the time though it would make us pause before returning there."

"My wife and I were visiting Hershey with another couple for a weekend long event and found What If...of Hershey while searching for a place for us to all go out for a nice dinner. We really enjoyed everything about What If... If visiting Hershey in the future we would definitely visit What If... again! Also should note that our server, Erin, provided excellent service!"

"Made a reservation for my wife and I and another couple, the day after Valentines Day. The restaurant was busy, but our waitress was up to the task, as both food and drinks were timely. My wife had the sea bass and I had the broiled crab cakes. Both were excellant with great sides. We will be back again."

"Some details were lacking. For example, getting a Troegs glass with my bottle of Stella Artois. I didn't like that, but really didn't like the glass having lipstick stains on it. The food was good but nothing to rave about. While I enjoyed it, I still expected better quality for the price (lobster raviolli)."

"Right here in our back yard, and we had never tried the Hershey "What If" Cafe. Was a bit nervous about its location (part of Howard Johnson's Motel), yet I had tried the one in uptown Harrisburg a few years ago and loved it. We were not disappointed. Our waitress, Audrey, could advise us on various entrees and she was so attentive. The restaurant is beautifully appointed and has a romantic atmosphere in the basement. I ordered sea scallops over fettucini and my husband ordered a Chesapeake filet. Both meals were exquisite, accompanied by salads and freshly made bread. We split some gelato for dessert, although the portion was massive. As we had a hard time deciding on our entrees, we will surely return to try other dishes!"

"I will chalk it up to an off night for the food. I have eaten here many times and loved it every time. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The wine was reasonable priced with a good selection for just about any budget and taste. The filet was not very flavorful and didn't have that melt in your mouth quality I like to have but it was still good. The crab cake was very good, very little filler. Just enough to keep it together. The disappointment was the Crème Brûlée. The crust was a little different from what I am used to but that could have been overlooked if the custard wasn't so runny with a similar consistency as tapioca. Thank goodness for the great company of my wife to make the average dinner great."

"What If is a wonderful gem for a special occasion and reservations were easy to make, even at the last minute. Our food (we all had fish) was delicious and perfectly cooked. They have a wonderful selection of salad dressing on fresh greens and quite a few specials. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed."

"Great food and drinks. The WI was packed and the service was a little slow. I was not happy with the table selection based on making the reservation one week out. Especially when the couple in front of us walked in without a reservation and received a better table ( away from the main door).
The cheese plate was excellent.
The Snapper was excellent.
The Turtle Brownie was delicious despite the Caramel was a little hard to cut through."
