"We were looking for a nice dinner spot to celebrate our daughter's college graduation. Biga's on the Banks did not disappoint. The atmosphere was elegant but not overstated. The service timely but not rushed. The food and drink selections were unique and varied. The surprise of the evening was a complimentary made to order dessert celebrating the graduation event. All in all a very memorable dining experience. Highly recommended."

"Me and my husband attended this restaurant when we are vacation in San Antonio. It is one of the nicer restaurants on the river walk. The food was tasty and the portion size huge, however we both felt that it was a tad overpriced for what we had. I would recommend This restaurant for special occasions."

"What a great meal at Biga on the Banks!! It was a little difficult to find- we drove by it about 4 times- and we were early for our reservation. They seated us quickly at a lovely table with a window view. The atmosphere was quiet and elegant. The food was fantastic!! Everything we ordered was delicious. I remarked that it might have been one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Food was cooked just right and the service was impeccable. Did not feel rushed or hovered over but our waiter was very attentive to our every whim. It was by far the best meal we had while on vacation in San Antonio. I would not hesitate to recommend highly!"

"Biga was recommended by a colleague. Our party of three seated on the veranda overlooking the San Antonio Riverwalk.
Service was prompt and, except for the waiter continuously overfilling the water glass, was very good.
Salads were prepared well, One guest ordered Axis deer with quail and my other guest and I ordered the lamb chops. The venison was prepared properly and nicely done. The lamb however, from both orders, sat until cool. The meat was fatty and lacked a full lamb flavor. The cheese grits were flavorful but lumpy.
Possibly, the lamb is an exception, but this in no ways compares to the lamb prepared at competitive restaurants in this prioce range."

"We enjoyed the best meal at Biga during our 5 day stay in San Antonio. Great service and wonderful food. They reserved a fantastic semi-private table for the two of us with a great view of the River Walk. The salmon nachos were great. My husband enjoyed the pork tenderloin and I enjoyed the grilled chicken breast. Amazing food presentations. Will definitely go back if ever in San Antonio again."

"This was by far the best dining experience I have had in my 47 years of life. The waiter was beyond superb in explaining the menu that changes daily, and had a vast knowledge of the chef and wine list. It was our 25 wedding anniversary and the waiter wasn't sure if we would order a dessert so he surprised us with a mini tart filled with a blackberry, accompanied with a few blueberries, raspberries, freshly made whip cream and "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. The food was the best I have ever tasted, including a couple of items I normally don't eat, were excellent! I highly recommend Biga on the Banks for any occasion."

"Outstanding dining experience. While in San Antonio it is worth taking a break from all the Tex Mex food and enjoy outstanding Farm to table dinning. Portions are somewhat generous so half plates and sharing should be considered. All the breads are baked on the premises and the location on the Riverwalk is intimate yet accessible. "I had made a reservation requesting a private room, and within the request I mentioned that I was proposing to my girlfriend earlier that day so I wanted it to be a special dinner. Unfortunately, when we got there at 8 (our reservation time), we were informed that it would take 30 minutes for the private room to be set up. We decided to just dine in the general dining room, where they placed us in a back corner. Also, while the waiter was excellent and very educated on the wine list, it was clear that he didn't know we had just gotten engaged. No congrats was given to either myself nor my fiance.
I am quite disappointed that for such a special occasian, we had such a normal dinner. I hope this is not how Biga teats all customers."

"The flat iron steak is SO good. I cannot tell you how much I've enjoyed dining at Biga. Each time I go it's always exactly what I expect - the epitome of service, cuisine, and atmosphere. "My wife and I discovered Biga on a trip to San Antonio a year ago and found the food and the service to be superb. We were back this past week....twice...and it exceeded expectations once again. "Was disappointed with waiter. Extremely slow service and inattentive. Not very helpful explaining menu and could never be found. Waited nearly 2 hrs for all of food to be delivered! Was also disappointed with location. Had assumed we would be right on the river but were inside next to the window but not a very good view. This restaurant experience was the only downside of our trip to San Antonio. Expected a lot more for what we paid. I will say though that the quality and taste of the food was excellent."

"Superb everything - our waitress was so delightful and even offered to switch side dishes around if the one printed on the daily menu with the entre was not prefered! Selections were fresh and updated daily according to the chef and his market finds for the day.
I went for a special occasion/reunion. 2 days later I returned with my girlfriends!"

"This is one of my favorites. The service is always great (especially if you get Chris) and the food is outstanding. The Australian rack of lamb is my favorite but everything on the menu is great. Try the smoked salmon nachos as an appetizer."

"One of the reasons to go back to San Antonio. We had the chef's tasting menu and we wanted to be surprised so we did not bother to check the list of dishes. Our expectations were exceeded. Every single dish was superb, service was remarkable, and ambiance was elegant. The chicken fried oyster over squid ink linguini was scrumptious. A restaurant definitely worth going back to."

"Chicken-fried oysters were fantastic; skip the squid ink pasta that comes with the dish (gummy). Service was great until the end when we asked for our remaining food to be boxed to take home. Whoever did it was sloppy, throwing the oysters in with a salad and the once crispy onion rings in with a heavily sauced entree. Word to the wise--request a to-go box and do it yourself!"

"This was our first time ever to eat here. It was a very special night for us. While driving from Corpus Christi to San Antonio, I googled a search to find the top river walk restaurants. Biga was #1. I went to their website which gave me the luxury to make an online reservation. 9pm was available. And just for fun, in the special request box, I asked for a private table for 2 with a great view of the Riverwalk. Upon our arrival we were seated in that dream location as requested! Wow! Plus we had our own curtain to pull to make it a private space and our own light dimmer switch. The food was Amaaaazing!! Topping that off we viewed the Fiesta Riverboat Night Parade- what a surprise for a Monday Night Event!"

"We have been to this restaurant several times over the past few years and we are increasing amazed at the quality of the food and the excellent service. We love to take out of town guests as we know that they will leave with wonderful memories of their visit to San Antonio and especially the evening at Biga. Would recommend this restaurant and their excellent wait staff to everyone."

"For its great reputation, Biga on the Banks did not measure up. The venison/quail entree was delicious (but not particularly innovative), as were the chicken fried oysters. But the roast chicken was overcooked and lacked any flavor and the pot stickers were no better than a Costco purchase. Service was nonchalant (or worse). The wine selection was good."
