"From Calgary: The first thing we were told as we arrived was buffet was closing in 40 minutes. The buffet setting was all over the place. We were in such a rush so we only saw what was closer to us...breakfast and dessert items. As I walked to the washroom I discovered there were ribs and beef on another table. My husband later discovered they had a grill on the patio as well....we missed all these items. I made reservation 3 weeks in advance requesting a table with the best mountain view but got a table that only one person at the table faced the mountain. The food was okay but nothing special...food cannot taste good when you eat under pressure. We walked out disappointed and thought our lunch at Canmore was a waste of money and time."

"After eagerly anticpating a return to the Iron Goat, spectacularly located with majestic views of the iconic mountains, the experience was sadly lacking. Perhaps too busy and overbooking, large groups dominating the service, but the food was lacking lustre and creativity, service was stretched. Certainly not an evening to sit back and relax and enjoy the ambience. For the price point , missed the mark this time."

"I took my 2 friends here for one of their birthdays, and once again, it was amazing. This is by far my favourite restaurant in Canmore. The food is always great and our server was attentive, friendly, professional and very personal. I made the reservations through opentable, and they even made the effort to accommodate our location request by the fireplace. I love the ambience of the Iron Goat; it's a busy restaurant but not loud so you can still actually visit at the table. The whole cabin, rustic decor still seems cozy and unique. Thank you so much for making this evening special for all of us! Can't wait to come back. :)"

"Made reservations days before our arrival, and were seated by a door that was constantly opening and closing, on a very cool evening....other tables were open, but that is where they chose to seat us. Food very poor....one meal was found almost unedible, for which we were given a 15 % discount, the other meal was very overcooked, salads very greasy, overall a very forgettable experience. Extremely noisy building, not a place for a couple to enjoy a nice quiet meal together. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"As usual the food was excellent; well prepared and well presented. Our server was obviously new, tried his best and was very friendly. We were seated upstairs amongst many families with small children and two big groups and would have preferred the ambience of the lower level but perhaps that is because I only made my reservation two days in advance. This restaurant should definitely not be missed when you are visiting Canmore. The view itself is worth the price of the meal"

"Had made a reservation in advance and when we arrived, although the restaurant was not full we were moved upstairs to a table in the back - no view. Area was more for larger groups,quite noisy. I spied a table downstairs by the fireplace and requested to be moved there. I was advised that the peoploe going to sit there had a reservation - what I didn't? Anyways the girl went to check on another table and lo and behold the first party had cancelled and yes we could have that table. Food was great service was slow. Never was offered a wine list and it seemd that though there was lots of staff our waitress was serving all the tables. Once meal done, had to wait 20 mins for bill."

"This is one of the best restaurants that I have ever been privileged to dine out at. I made reservations for us, and am glad that I did, since it was Good Friday. The service was excellent, the table reserved for us in a good position to see the mountain scenery,and the staff handled the demands of the busy restaurant well. The food was excellent, and displayed well. Refills were prompt. Neither my friend nor I had eaten at the Iron Goat Pub and Grill before. This restaurant has been placed at the top of our "return" list for when we decide to go to Canmore for lunch again. This was the highlight of our day out in Canmore."

Ribs were excellent but served with poblano (its a pepper)fries and sweet potato (pecan and marshmallow) pie. For those of us not so adventurous it would have been nice to have regular fries or baked potato available.

"Despite my online request for a window view, known from previous visits as available almost everywhere on the main level,we were seated at the top of the stairs, with no view,in the line of traffic. The hostess went out of her way, at a busy time, to find us a perfect table, soon available on the main level, which we appreciated. Our waiter was pleasantly friendly. Mains arrived quickly. Two of 3 were adequate; tasty but not special, nicely presented, with appropriate portions. My chicken wellington was almost cold. apparently microwaved. When we caught his eye, the waiter returned it quickly to the kitchen; the replacement plate was properly heated. Desserts were apparently store-bought rather than in-house, perhaps also thawed from frozen"

"We had made reservations and were expecting a good night at the Iron Goat. It was just the two of us and we were expecting a quiet dinner. We got seated by a lot of families in the upper loft. It turned out to be a family night out.
The food was good but not much for the price tag that came with it. We have been to the iron Goart Pub and Grill before and were served bread before or with the meal. We both came away feeling that the value had been lost.

"I found this place just to be okay. We both had salads that were kind of boring. I can't even remember which ones, that's how memorable they were. Our server and hostess were very friendly, but overall, it was just okay. The menu lacks greatness. Good Canmore find, though, as generally the place lacks choice. It's a nice place, I think they'll get it - I'll give it another shot later in the year."

"We booked for a table of four which we had to change to a table for two. The Iron Goat staff easily accomodated us. Our reservation was on time. The service and food were all great. We have dined there many times and make it a stop whenever we're in Canmore."

"We visited the Iron Goat Pub & Grill during our stay in Canmore and absolutely loved it. The restaurant is really nice - very log cabin/pub-like and the food was delicious! We had the Bruschetta to start which was delicious. I had the ribs with sweet potato fries and my husband had the meatloaf - we both enjoyed our meals.We sat at a table right in front of the fireplace which made it such a nice experience. We intend to go again on our next visit. I definitely recommend making a reservation though because it was really busy and quite noisy."

"As previously noted, this restaurant is worth the visit if only for the spectacular view. Fortunately, the food and service are also excellent. Based on previous reviews, we went prepared to enjoy burgers and pizza, but were tempted by the ribs ( one pork, one bison) and were not disappointed! In addition to fall off the bone tasty tender meat, the sides were really tasty- especially the sweet potatoe casserole. The service was amazing. We mentioned we had hoped to do some snowshoeing- and not only did our host recommend a location, he also printed off a google map of directions for us! We were there on a quiet week night- so had the luxury of a lovely table fireside- but I wouldn't hesitate to go back and ask for upstairs seating."

"On the whole the iron goat left us feeling good with our decision to visit. We were not in a rush so the extended wait between the first and 2nd course was forgivable but nearly an hour any other time would have been unacceptable.
Our waiter on the night was positive and attentive.
