"Complementary hummus and fried pita (veges and humus for gluten-free guests) upon arrival.......Amazing lamb shanks very reasonably priced (look at the price of shanks in the grocery!).....All six of us were moaning with the first bite! We can attest for the lamb shanks and braised short ribs.....LOTS of gluten free choices which are marked right on the regular menu. Beautiful private areas for larger groups too."

"A large part of the menu is comprised of tapas. My husband and I decided to order salads and share three tapas orders. When I asked the waiter if the salad dressing was spicy he replied "no". It was very spicy (I realize that spicy/mild/etc. is subjective, but this definitely had substantial heat. Two other dishes were on the spicy side too....even to my husband who does not mind fairly spicy food. The waiter did not seemed too knowledgeable about a wine question either. May return, but not in any hurry."

"The menu looked good so my friend and I decided to try it. We had a great experience starting with our waitress , Morgan and the owner who took a personal interest in us. The cocktails were fabulous along with the tomato and goat cheese dip. We had the house and beet salads which were beautiful with very fresh ingredients. We split the veggie pizza which was actually loaded with many different veggies and had a light delicious crust. I ended up making reservations for Mothers Day and had an equally good experience."

"My husband had a delicious dark Russian Imperial beer, I had the two-step in raspberry. I've had cocktails at many fine restaurants, but none have ever beat this one. It was wonderful! Not usually a hummus fan, but the fresh pita chips and hummus with cilantro and a hint of garlic was outstanding. We both loved it. Husband had the Halibut (hard to find in these parts) and it was great. I had and highly recommend the Lobster ravioli, with the homemade slightly spiced creamy crab sauce. We can't wait to go back. Parking is complementary valet on weekends, a very nice touch!"

"There were only two full tables and ours was one of them. It took forever for the waitress to even acknowledge us - probably 15-20 minutes. Thought the Caprese salad was very overpriced, but the quantity of food for the main courses was very good and very appealing. Waitress made up for bad service by bringing us a free appetizer. Much appreciated."

"Everything was really excellent here. We went the tapas route, and had several items between us. All were excellent. The service couldn't have been better. The only negative is that they brought us a complimentary tapas dish of pita with cilantro hummus. The chef should know that many people, including me, have a STRONG aversion to cilantro. I appreciate the gesture, but something less known to be a problem for many would have been a better choice."

"We were excited to go for our first time since it was our anniversary and we usually do not indulge. I asked on the reservation to have a remote location (not in traffic area)... well it is almost as if they did the opposite. They placed us in the hallway and not only in a narrow hallway, my hustbands chair was completely out in the isle right where the hallways turns into a corner. This was very near to the entrance as well so it was a lot of people almost knocking into him. The people seated at the other hallway table behind us were visibly upset when they saw their location. The two hallway tables need to GO! get rid of them because if you put people there they wont come back. The saving grace was teh sweet server and she was awesome."

"Had a great dinner at Sidebar. We hadn't been there in awhile. We were glad we went again. The appetizer was great, wonderful flavors, to start. Loved the wedge salad. All entrees were pretty terrific. The salmon was beautiful, well presented and cooked perfectly. It was also a generous portion, at a very reasonable price. Terrific service, attentive without being overly so. All in all, one of the best nights of dining in some time. We'll be back."

"We dined here hoping for a fun night out with dinner and cocktails. While the drinks were great we were underwhelmed by the food. We did enjoy our dinner salads (House & Caprese) but the three tapas items we ordered were just "meh." The chicken skewers had good flavor but the sauce was dry and it could have used some moisture. The ceviche needed a little kick of flavor which would have balanced the 'muddiness' of the talapia. Finally the plantains with queso and guava was uninspired and was simply a bowl filled with large chunks of each. It seems they could have done more to highlight the ingredients."

"Sidebar has lots of potential -- food is pretty good (complimentary hummus was delicious and seafood opera was good too), drinks are GREAT, and the restaurant helps to anchor an area of Downtown Columbus that's up and coming. Service and ambiance, however, leave something to be to desired. Our waitress was somewhat unprofessional and decor/mood could be set a bit better. Nothing that can't be fixed with a little attention paid to the diner experience, but I would qualify any recommendation to eat there."

"I am new to Columbus and just happened to google restaurants to find options for Valentine's day. The menu looked interesting with a variety of different options (food and drink). My boyfriend and I had a great time. It was a very low key place that was great for enjoying food and conversation. Service was awesome! Friendly and helpful. There was no pressure to eat and leave. They encourage you to try as many things as you want. I think we will be going back to try more appetizers and drinks! I recommend!"

"We were seated upstairs in the "piano bar" area, which isn't a bar, per se, just another floor of the restaurant. Slightly dim, votives on the tables, sat near the pianist, which was lovely and just what we were after! The food was all delicious; tried a couple of the tapas and ordered dinner, as well, which was entirely too much food. The tapas run around 7 dollars and are a good size for sharing. The server conveniently didn't mention prices when quoting the specials; my husband went for the sea bass, which sadly turned out to be 34 dollars... The wines by-the-glass and beers are also definitely overpriced, but there is an interesting selection of bottled beers. None on draft. The service was very attentive, perhaps overly so at times."

"This is my second time at Sidebar and it is even better than the first time! We ordered the short ribs, airline chicken, vegetarian pizza, and filet mignon. All four were amazing. We all tried each others dishes and wanted to trade. The chicken was cooked on the bone and was especially moist. The short ribs were served on a portabello mushroom that was excellent. The filet was cooked perfectly - and the pizza was chock full of veggies. Perhaps the most outstanding thing about this place - as if the meals were not enough - are the salads. They are excellent, just the right amount of dressing, and served with candied walnuts, cheese, etc that make the perfect complement. if you have not been here, place it high on your list of places to visit"

"My husband and I went to Sidebar 122 for Valentine's Day. We were seated upstairs, and I felt the lighting was too bright up there and the seating too close together. However, the food was awesome as was the service. After a quick dinner, we chose to relocate to the bar area. It's much darker and cozier on the first floor of the restaurant. We loved the drink menu and the tapas quality is amazing!"

"Sidebar 122 may well be our new favorite! Great decor, reasonably priced, and great live music on two different levels (two-man latino band- percussion and guitar; jazz piano). Wonderful ambiance and a great place for a date... plenty quite to talk. Food was very good, though we just had small plates and will have to come back to try the entrees. My wife had an excellent cocktail and the dessert we had was also delicious. Service was perfect- very friendly."

"The food was fantastic; the cocktails were a bit pricy but worth it-some very unique ones. The hostess was wonderful. But the staffing went downhill from there due to the waiter. The waiter was fairly dismal-very disappointing as he seemed very engaging with a South American accent when first discussing the menu with us. He was late on most things-from not paying attention; he totally forgot our salad. We finally gave up on him by the time we'd waited for coffee for a long time after the meal. I think that we would have had a very memorable meal if it had not been for the waiter-I encourage you to go, but tell them you want a different waiter!"

"We generally have a good experience here, but not much good to say about our Valentine's Day dinner. 6:15 reservation, yet the service was very slow - two or three introductions and 15 min before taking our drink order. I ordered a 750mL beer but got the wrong one even though there were only two on the menu besides the mead. Wife's pizza was fine. I ordered the lamb shank with risotto and mixed vegetables. The lamb was excellent, but the risotto and vegetables were ice cold, risotto mushy and appeared to have been pre-cooked several hours prior. For dessert, all of the ice cream in the pear dish was melted with the spoons laying in the pool. You shouldn't serve cold, pre-cooked food, melted desserts - expeditor and server should know."

"Knowledgable server enhanced our dining experience from guiding our cocktail selections (try the Winter's Dream--absinthe ritual cocktail), small plate appetizers (empanadas) and entrees (sea bass & short ribs). This chef owned restaurant is totally focused on the food experience and is highly recommended. The complimentary valet is a plus."

"Sidebar 122 has a Chilean chef who seems to really care about the food he is preparing. I took a few friends who had not been to the restaurant since it became the Sidebar 122 (formerly The Brownstone and Out on Main). They all enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. The house salad was well assembled and not overdressed. We had tapas and a roasted vegetable pizza, followed by tres leches cake and all were well prepared. It was a Tuesday evening and all of the tables were full as was the bar, so there must be others who enjoy it, as well!"

"I love Peruvian food and there are some menu items that really highlight those flavors. The ceviche is very good as are the scallops in the Huancaina sauce and the quinoa salad and the Pisco sours are outstanding. My father is from Peru and I took him there for dinner to celebrate my son's birthday. We ordered lots of tapas, the quinoa salad and some scallops, which was a great way to sample the menu. We finished with some lucuma (a peruvian fruit) cheesecake and overall had an wonderful meal and a great experience."

"Our waiter Chris was attentive and enjoyable. He brought us bacon from the bar. (How good is a bar that not only serves great vintage cocktails, but their bar food of choice is bacon? It's practically diabolical.) Food: fantastic as always. Chicken croquettes are a must-have throwback appetizer for the table. One of the diners had a nightly special of the lamb chops. It was a huge rack of lamb, 8 bones in all, perfectly prepared and some of the best lamb any of us had. She had to share, as it was an entree large enough for two people. Lucky us. We'll be back, again and again."
