Eulogy Belgian Tavern is Philadelphia's Premier Beer & Dining Institution featuring 21 drafts & 300 different bottled beers. The food is award winning & noted for plump, juicy mussels in a variety of beer & other sauces, as well as the city's best hamburger made with seven secret spices & the only authentic double fried Flemish Belgian style fries found in Philadelphia. The restaurant is owned by a Belgian American family from Brugge Belgium & staffed with a few employees on visas from Belgium, two other attributes which make this the authentic Belgian experience.
Rated as the fifth best beer restaurant in the United States by ratebeer.com & winner of numerous awards on citysearch.com with friendly & knowledgeable staff, Eulogy Belgian Tavern is a dining experience you must see to believe. For the more adventurous call for a seat in the "coffin room", a small room in the back of the second floor where the three tables are coffins. In high demand so call early.
"Downstairs dining is limited with several tables next to the bar. Upstairs has more tables but music is loud. With all the beers on tap and available in bottle, the one beer we wanted, which is the most popular beer in Belgium (Stella) , they were out of it the night we were there. The restaurant doesn't serve dessert so you have to go somewhere else, 2 blocks away."

"The beer list is excellent. However, it took over 20 minutes to get the beer. The service was terrible even though we were his only table. Mussels were excellent but the hamburger was to dry to eat -- stick with the mussels and the beer and eat at the bar."

"The food and beers are always good -- but the service is what brings us back. Our first time at Eulogy we had an amazing waitress. This time around, we had Jen, who again was great - kept our glasses filled without being pushy and was able to give great recommendations on both the food and the alcohol on the menu. We'll be back again!"

"We just kind of picked a place at random that was in the area and decided on this place. Sat at tables that were "coffins" which was peculiar, but interesting. The list of beers available was extensive and diverse, but the food was just okay. I had a burger and she had a tuna sandwich. Not terrible, but not spectacular either. The waitresses were super friendly and attentive. I would recommend this place not necessarily for the best meal, but rather for a chill hang out spot to have a drink or two on any given day of the week."

"This place was a tavern.. nothing more, nothing less. I got the crabcake sandwich (not my favorite) and had tastes of everyone else's dinner (party of 5) which were delicious. It's a lot of fried options.. again a tavern. I hated sitting upstairs because the windows were taped shut on one of the warmer days of this spring season. I'm not sure why everyone wasn't complaining about it. I don't really like sweating during a meal. It'd probably be nice to have it that warm during the winter though?.. The beer list is AWESOME. Anything you can think of is probably on there, if not something similar to what you're looking for. It's really why we picked the place... largest selection in Philly (:"

"The first thing you'll notice is the lengthy list of beer options they have but don't stop there, although it might not look like it, the food is actually outstanding. I especially recommend the mussels dijon, the grilled cheese, and the buffalo wings.
The waiters and waitresses are very knowledgeable about beer and will help you pick the perfect style for you. So, go for the beer, go for the good, and for the general fun environment."

"Eulogy never disappoints. Awesome beer selection and the food is perfect. Order the muscles as an appetizer and my date ordered house salad and I had the duck. All was perfect. This place fills up fast so I highly recommend making reservations on the weekend."

"The downstairs bar area is all I would recommend. That part looks like a decent bar with a great selection of beers, etc to choose from. It looks open and nice to bring friends.
The upstairs is TOO crammed. There are actual coffins in the back room on the 2nd floor and that's exactly how the upstairs feels, like a coffin. It has horrible red paint. Food was okay and the Belgian beers are always good because they are Belgian.
My server for some reason was in a mood that I cannot explain. She gave me a look when I asked about my check and my colleagues all saw that. We all didn't care for this either and honestly, if you look hard enough, you can find a better pub. The 'good beers' can easily be found elsewhere."

"Eulogy is an unprepossessing joint that holds at least two treasures not apparent from the outside. The Belgian mussels and fish and chips are absolutely superb, and the beer list is longer than your arm -- literally! With over 300 beers, most of them Belgian, even the snootiest beer snob will be satisfied. Dave, the bartender, made us feel right at home, and even Bruce, the occupant of the bar stool to my left was a font of beerology. He personally introduced me to my new all-time favorite beer, Trappistes Rochefort 10. If all you do on any day in Philly is order a bowl of mussels and a bottle of Trappistes ay Eulogy, that day will be a memorable success."

"Food was tasty. Had a reservation, but the place was empty so early. When we got in, they basically said, "sit wherever" and then we felt largely ignored after that, despite how empty the place was. Service was pleasant enough though, and the food was excellent, though I'd pass on the fries (the fries cost more than our drinks, and were nothing special)."

"This bar has one of the best beer lists in the country. Fantastic selection, everything from true Belgium Quads to hard to find IPA's. They have great food too. The muscles are great (a few differnt kinds) and the burger was delicious. Never tried any of the entrees, but everything else there is done really well, so I assume that is too."

"We asked to have the hangar steak entree split for our two children after the waitress assured us tht the portion size was enormous. The result was two dishes, each with 7 French fries and 2 ounces of steak.
Beer was excellent, and the mussels were fair."

"Eulogy has always had an excellent draft beer selection but with the Philly Beer scene gaining popularity, it is becoming more difficult to get a seat at Eulogy. If it was just a great beer selection, you could easily grab a pick six at the Foodery and call it a night. But Eulogy has great Belgian Pub Food. Their Frijtes are golden and crispy and thick. After you start eating them you will want to make them their own meal, they are that incredible. To do that would be to miss their tremendous Hangar Steak Sandwich which was incredibly tender and moist when served rare. The juices mix with the mushrooms and saturate the bread and it is a delight. Eulogy is a fantastic place for a relaxed meal, everytime I go I plan my next visit."

"Awesome beer list. The beer list is bigger than the menu itself, so if you like beer in particular Belgian beers this is the place. Plus the mussels and Belgian frietjes were fabulous."

"Beer list makes this place a must-visit, Belgian style fries and mussels are quite good. Call ahead when possible, the coffin room is very cool for groups - lo-fi feel but worth the trip. Bartenders have always been very helpful."

"Limited seating so reserve in advance if going on weekends. Food was ok, waitress was good and had a great personality. Beer as far as the eye can see. The list of specialty beers was never ending. All in all a great place to chill back after work with a few friends."
