"We loved the rooftop deck but the two-tops were squeezed uncomfortably closely together, so that we heard every nuance of our neighbors conversation.
The food was a mixed bag but mostly good ... but we wouldn't get the roasted grapes or garbanzo beans again. The stuffed dates, risotto and roast pig however, were all delicious. On the dessert side, the churros got a good reception but my apple cake, while tasty, should have been warm.
Most disappointingly, when we asked a question about a $35 bottle of wine, our server, new to the restaurant, said he would ask someone more familiar with the wine list ... and then came back with an $85 suggestion! Someone wasn't thinking.
We'll go back, with a group and with slightly lower expectations!"

"First of all the food is delicious. Second of all, the food is delicious! We have loved everything we've tried here: hangar steak, halibut, clams, oysters, stuffed dates, deep-fried peppers and Brussels sprouts.... Staff is friendly and professional and we love the look of the space. This place immediately made our "let's go someplace special" list."

Warm and friendly server, attentive throughout the meal.

"Every time I eat on the rooftop, the time it takes for the food to get to the table after ordering is PAINFUL. We say down at 5:30, ordered at 6:00 and got served over an hour and a quarter later. I have registered this complaint twice before.
I LOVE the food, the wait staff is terrific - but the kitchen can't get the food out in a timely manner nor is it hot by the time it gets to you. I don't get it."

"We enjoyed our experience at Terra Plata, start to finish. Despite reserving through Open Table, we were called back to confirm. The table was ready when we arrived and we were greeted with friendliness and respect. All the dishes were excellent and arrived in a timely manner. The combinations of flavours were interesting and complemented each other well. The service was warm and efficient but not invasive. We had the impression of being well taken care of but not intruded upon. The room was beautiful from a design point of view, rustic but cozy. Perhaps the only downside was the noise level, but my husband and I could still carry on a conversation without screaming! Altogether a fun and lively ambiance."

"I was eating across the street last month when I saw this restaurant. Immediately it went on my "to-eat" list. I scheduled it for my birthday and it was a very good meal. "I love trying the new things on the menu. The scallop crudo was fabulous - the flavors and textures blended perfectly. Also tried the kale which was delicious. Tamara Murphy's cappelletti has always been superb and just melts in your mouth which was again true at this dinner. The wine selection is excellent, has something for everyone and is affordable and really compliments the food. We choose a Chateau Mangot St. Emilion this night which was awesome and I will get again. Service is always friendly and professional."

"This is a great spot for meeting up for drinks and some food. The service was just not bad but we did have to ask a couple of times for things and he did the same thing to the table next to us (and also tried to give us their items a few times). You are somewhat close to your neighboring tables also so you can definitely overhear each other (and vice-versa...so beware of what you discuss unless you might get some of their commentary too like what happened to me). Food and drinks were great, though, and it was just a really bright, upbeat environment."

"The service needs to improve, a lot. It took way to long to order and receive everything... drinks, food, check. The food was very good, our group tried about a dozen dishes and enjoyed all of them. However the prices are VERY high for portion sizes. I had wanted to come back and try the roof top but with the poor service, extremely high prices, and lack of easy parking I probably won't return any time soon."

"Fabulous halibut ( but rather a small serving for the price) and risotto, but both arrived 10 or 15 minutes after the salads (fine wild greens, boring beets) and sunchokes (delicious). I know "all things pig" is the rage, but about 2/3 dishes involved pork/bacon/chorizo etc. -- over the top trendy! Not to mention it was still Passover, as our friends pointed out.... Also could there be just one green vegetable on the menu (besides the mixed greens)? But we love the atmosphere and 3/5 dishes were great, so will probably try again -- though not before some changes on the menu."

"This was my second time eating at Terra Plata and I enjoyed it very much. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and after being seated I notice "Happy Birthday Marian" on each menu. Felt that was such a wonderful touch. We order several small plates and one large. Plenty of food and enjoyed all the different tastes. Everything was excellent. Our server was very attentive. All and all a wonderful evening. I (we) will definately come again."

"The steak was not warm when served. We got seated for a 9:30pm reservation at 9:55. My husband and I both ordered a glass of wine. It had pieces of cork in it. We told the server and she brought back the wine and it STILL had cork in it. Not worth the price. But the Braised Beef dish was delicious.
If you love painted hills steak go to La Bete on Capital Hill - waaaaay better food and prices. We don't call ourselves 'foodies' but we like good food without pretension - a little bit of pretension is ok but not dripping..."

"As in my past dining trip to Terra Plata the menu did not let us down. the food is an eclectic mixture of foodie items and simple dishes done with a flare (try the scallops or brussel sprouts). Dishes were plated to enhance the experience- good food "eye candy" effect.

"The "shared plate" menu made for a very fun evening of discussion and choices. The variety of dishes gave everyone, adventurous or not, something to enjoy. Five people, five different cocktails, five different desserts, all beautiful and delicious. Service was excellent, with a nice touch - when they called to confirm the reservation I casually mentioned that it was a birthday. They asked for her name and our menus were printed with a "Happy Birthday, Kelly" on them."

"What a wonderful place this is. Really pretty restaurant. Linda Gordon the GM and part owner (I think) chatted up me and my (Bay Area) friend. We asked her to order our dinner for us and she was absolutely delight to do that. So dishes just kept coming to the table and we never knew what we were going to get next. Wonderful experience. It's a real hot spot, so it's busy. And loud. But very much fun."

"Good food, beautiful dining room and ambiance. Attentive and accomodating hosting staff, although in full swing on a Friday, they could use an extra support staff person as a couple times we were looking for our server. I would not say good value; portions are small and price points are high. I would not say bad value either as execution and quality is quite evident. Corkage fees are $20-per bottle, even with purchase of in-house alcohol. Expect to spend $50/person before tax and tip for a special meal."

"If you like a wide selection of excellently prepared vegetable side dishes, this place is for you. Limited main courses but who cares. Bartender came over a couple of times to see if custom cocktails were to our liking. Service is casual but attentive. Tamara, the owner, also dropped by the table for a chat..for whatever reason we are always impressed when a chef/owner will drop by the table. Only downside was getting seated. Even though it was 6:00pm and the place was almost empty we were first shown to a table near the front door then one near the kitchen while other tables were available. We needed to insist on another four top. Sometimes I think an "Open Table" prejudice does exist for better tables, but can't figure out why."

"I find the food to be very overpriced for what you get at this restaurant. It's good but it's definitely not over $100 for two people good. I found all the food to be much too rich and heavy with butter. Probably won't go back unless they lower their prices and make better quality food. I've eaten their twice now and the first time the food was much better the first time we ate their in December."

"Stayed at the Homewood Suites (Hilton) on Pike and walked over to this restaurant. Exceptional staff, great food/wine recommendations. Rustic but classy ambiance. Food was varied, flavorful, and a good value. We will certainly return there on our next trip. Seating is great for singles (bar space), couples (window seating) or large groups (family style farm table). A very nice find!"

"Overall the food is excellent and the service very good. This is a small plates restaurant where the kitchen sends out the plates when they are ready, but that can often make the diner feel rushed. Perhaps the food was coming out faster than usual because it was Valentine's Day and they were fully booked. However, I think a little more care in this area would create a more pleasant dining experience. Also in some cases, portions are quite small so it is necessary to order quite a few plates to feel adequately satiated which can result in a large bill so be prepared."
