Barracuda Japanese Restaurant on Market is located in the Castro District.
Fun, colorful, and experimental; serving Neo-Japanese Cuisine with a mix of Brazilian and Peruvian flavors to spice things up!
"We tried the tasting menu, the menu was not very descriptive and we thought the portions are going to be small. We ordered a couple more items from happy hour menu and realized we had ordered too much food. The tasting menu portions are more than enough for 2 people, the sushi and sashimi are very fresh and tasty. So is the mochi ice-cream with whipped cream. To top it off, the server had a very cheerful and positive attitude, she is very attentive and courteous. The decor of the restaurant is cool and hip. we certainly enjoy the ambience, service and food and will be back again and highly recommend this place."

"Had a Group On coupon to use and had dinner at Barracuda. It had been several months since my last visit. The Friday night crowd was buzzing and the bar scene (albeit a small bar area) was jumping. The Tasing Menu for 2 filled-up both of us with a very good variety of pre-fixe offerings from appetizer to dessert. We opted for the Sushimi entree (there was another choice that was cooked - tempura, I think) and the fish could not have been fresher or more flavorful. The very large "roll of the day" was great, too. Highly recommend Barracuda - especially if you have a coupon to use. You won't be disappointed."

"The chef's dinner was wonderful! I have found new favorites! The sashimi was very fresh. I love the butter fish and albacore. The special roll was wonderful too. I love this restaurant and always enjoy dinner here."

"We had some friends in town and we wanted to find a place where we could get a last minute reservation in the Castro. The first time we went to Barracuda, we had some service issues, but decided to give it another try. The sushi is great! The decor is kitchy and leaves a little to be desired. However, as long as the sushi is good, I am happy."

"Barracuda has a great selection of all the rolls, sashimi, etc. that anyone would want from a sushi place plus a whole lot of specialty rolls and fun sake cocktails. The atmosphere is lively and fun with a really great music selection. It makes for a fun overall experience to complement the great food."

"This restaurant is great for groups and bottomless mimosas. I went here for brunch and ordered the Japanese chicken and waffles...after a long wait (about 30-40 mins), it finally shows up. The meal was ok, nothing to write home about. It also looks like they've raised their prices. The menu on their website still has the old prices."

"Cool spot with nice cocktails, but unfortunately the food can be a mixed bag. Enjoyed the meal my first time, but was a bit disappointed with the sushi this round. Service is on par with most SF offerings in this price range."

"Usually I come to Barracuda for brunch and bottomless mimosas, but on this particular night my boyfriend and I came for the three-course prix fixe. It was pretty good and with the LivingSocial deal, a great deal for two. The sushi was fresh and delicious. We ordered an uni nigiri in addition to the menu. Perfectly fresh and buttery."
