"As always, excellent food and service. The only negative was we were seated outside in the covered area and it was very chilly. We asked that the heaters be turned on which they were but the table behind us (who were directly under the heaters) complained and had them turned off. Other than that a good place for 10 of us to eat on short notice."

"When visiting Winston-Salem we love to visit this restaurant. The food is very good and this time was no exception. I had grilled salmon with lemon caper butter which was cooked perfectly and tasted great. My partner had the crab stuffed Mahi Mahi which she said was excellent.
Our visit, however, was not as enjoyable as others because of the poor service. It was very busy but the management seemed unable to deal with it. We were seated ten minutes after our reservation with no menus as the hostess had none. It was another ten minutes before we received menus and another ten to fifteen before anyone asked us if we wanted a drink. We also never received the specials for the evening.
We will returnee rebut hope they get the tract together."

"Whoa! Have not been in a while and it was pretty awful. Made a reservation but they had no record of it. Showed the reservation on my phone and was sat promptly. Martini had to be sent back twice. The crab dip was the worst I have ever eaten, so we didn't eat it. So fishy smelling (imitation crab?) Waiter tried his best but it was his first dinner service, but was very courteous. Filet and lobster-filet great, the lobster looked like they pulled meat out of some crab legs and tossed the pieces onto the steak. It was a joke. Side salad never arrived but was on the check. Just one thing after another."

"My birthday and we're new in town. We love the neighborhood and decided to try the Filling Station. It was excellent and not as "pricey" as I thought it might be. Really nice place with the fireplace added to the ambiance.

"Once we got to our table, our service was excellent and our waiter was friendly and efficient. He was also helpful with menu items.
All four of us enjoyed the food very much. It was well prepared and nicely presented. Also, the prices are very reasonable considering the quality.
The only issue we had was regarding being seated. We had a 7:15 reservation and we arrived about 5 minutes early. The restaurant was very crowded---so much so that there was barely a place to stand and wait. The staff seating people barely acknowleged us. They did not even look up and just said we will be with you in a minute. They ignored every one standing there and finally seated us after about a half hour without so much as an apology."

"This was our first visit to the Old Fourth Street Filling Station, but will definitely not be our last. The food was very good and service was outstanding. Although we dined inside the restaurant, I will request to dine in the outside patio (covered and heated) are on our next visit. We can't wait for warmer weather to take advantage of the atmosphere."

"This neighborhood gem has been discovered, on a Friday night reservations are a necessity. They handle the crowds well, except for the waiting area is the bar and on cold nights it's like fighting through a crowded commuter train to get to the host station. Once seated and inside though, everything is great."

"The food was phenomenal. Both my girlfriend and I enjoyed our first dining experience this past week. Everything we had was great, from the bread and honey butter, the spinach dip and pita, to the main dishes we both received. If I'm back in Winston-Salem again, we'll make this a stop for sure!"

"I like The Old Fourth Street Filling Station - but I don't love it. My wife received her salad which was followed a few minutes later by my appetizer (the black bean wontons are awesome). But I still was not given utensils with which to eat my appetizer. Nor did I receive them after asking two servers. It wasn't until our waiter returned to check on us that I was able to tell him the same thing and finally received the silverware. The shrimp and grits are also very good.
But my biggest hang up was the Old Fashioned cocktail. My Old Fashioned arrived in a martini glass full of muddled pulp. It tasted "ok", but I have no idea why a cocktail with glassware named for it would be served "up"."
