"While the restaurant is quite nice and definitely intended to be a romantic and high class dining experience, the food was not as god as it was during my previous visit several months ago. We sat in the bar area this time and the service was very inconsistent even though we had three different people serving our table. My first visit was in the dining room and that one server did a fantastic job. This time, the two bar tenders and a third who appeared to be a manager, were not coordinating very well and just seemed to not be on the same page. Everyone was very friendly and upbeat though."

"Impressive! Nice! Elegant! Impressed with salads and entrees. Not so much the sides probably would skip the sides next time and try the dessert menu. The meat presentation was a bit lengthy. Been to other steak houses and they didn't take as lomg as our waiter did. Don't get me wrong out waiter did a great job but it got to the point like when you read a book and realize you lost interest somewhere and have mo idea what you just read .... yeah it was like that. Everything else was great."

"Everything was so good. Up scale dining, knowledgeable employees, and excellent food.

Probably the best scallops and prime rib I've ever had!!! I wish everyone I knew could come here at least once and try it, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Chocolate cake, get it, if you have enough room :)"

"Saturday evening at 6:30 we are expecting this place to be hopping or at least the bar to convey a "destination place"; alas this was not the case, even if was the Memorial Day weekend. Except for the sommelier, the dining room service was gracious and sufficiently knowledgeable. The sommelier appeared annoyed to entertain questions, which for bottles running to $1200, probably is an unfortunate attitude to convey. The veal with the Tuscan preparation was outstanding. Also recommended are the mushrooms topped with Boursin cheese. The food and service compete with many other offerings in the Leawood/Overland Park areas."

"To start off the food is wonderful, the wine list is one of the best in Kansas, and the service is top notch... Having said that, the interior annoys me. I was born and raised in steak houses in downtown if and the plaza, places that have been around since Kansas city was founded practically... This place has tried desperately to mimic that style, and in the middle of a shopping center that is only a few years old, it feels fake. I wish they'd been unique and not just tried to copy everyone else."

"The main problem with 801 Chophouse is that it already exists in another name.
Ruth Chris....

My wife and I split a salad,
Each had the 8oz filet mignon,
We split the wild mushrooms and maytag potatoes,
We also, each took home a dessert.
And my wife had 2 glasses of house wine....

Out the door: $200.00

Now don't get me wrong, the food was GOOD, not wonderful but VERY GOOD. The service was incredible, although the restaurant was EMPTY on a Saturday night.

The thing that kills 801 for us was the price. I will pay for quality, I will pay for ambiance, atmosphere, unique foods prepared by knows chefs. Best I can tell, 801 looks like someone went to Ft. Worth, copied a menu or two and doubled the prices."

"After visiting and loving 801 Chophouse in Kansas City, we thought we'd give the Leawood location a try. Our server was outstanding. She was knowledgable about the menu and provided outstanding recommendations. Not being a big steak person myself, I initially considered ordering the salmon. After inquiring about my meat preferences, our server suggested Chilean sea bass instead. It was out of this world! Hands down the best fish dish I have ever had. My fiancé chose Delmonico steak, as his KC 801 experience with this cut had been amazing. He enjoyed the steak, but commented that the outer, thinner edge was more charred than he would have enjoyed, but overall, we has a great experience!"

"We were there the night before Valentine's Day. We had a great time, but the dining room wasn't very busy. I've been there when it's crowded and the buzz and activity add to the ambiance. That is the only quasi-negative thing I can say! The food & service was extraordinary. Always a consistent experience."
