Michy's
Michy's is the golden child restaurant created by husband and wife team David Martinez and Michelle Bernstein. This modern bistro located in the up and coming neighborhood of Miami’s “Upper East Side”, awakens the 69th block on gritty Biscayne Boulevard with its glowing lights and bustling energy.
Chef Bernstein and her team utilize seasonal ingredients and draw upon local farmers and fisherman to create whimsical bistro dishes, a style she coins as “luxurious comfort food.” The menu is comprised of an eclectic range that includes Michelle’s Jewish-Argentinean background, classical French training and a love for all things Spain with a sprinkling of homey Italian. From Crispy Fried Poussin, to Ceviche, to Braised Short Ribs, there is literally a little something for everyone.
The goal is to enjoy yourself, to enjoy every bite and to take your palate on a ride!

"This wonderful restaurant is on Hwy 1 on the mainland near Miami Beach. We were fortunate enough to read about Michy's in an article in our condo, One Bal Harbour. Every restaurant we went to in Miami Beach was very good to excellent. I rate Michy's as the best for recipes. Every dish was exceptional and the right portion (not too much and not too little)."

"Went Michy's for 25th Wedding Anniversary. Food was excellent! Had Salad of Bibb Lettuce, White Gazpacho, Yellowtail Snapper, Seafood Spaghettini and Alaskan dessert. All were really yummy and not from using a ton of butter, like so many restaurants do these days, but rather from using a well balanced and creative blend of fresh ingredients. Also loved the Asian inspired decor. Will go again the next time we're in town. Thanks for providing such a pleasant dining experience!"

"This restaurant is in an odd part of downtown Miami, and it's definitely NOT worth the cost of the cab ride from SOBE! From the outside Michy's has a non-descript façade. Inside the restaurant is decorated in a strange blue and orange motif. The décor looks interesting on the website photos, but inside it looks out of date and really ragged. The long orange velour bench seat has stains and water marks all over it, and in general the restaurant feels in disrepair. The dress code we read online indicated "dressy" however every single server and bartender in the place wears jeans. The food was okay at best. We were expecting much better food based on the reviews and the prices."

"My boyfriend and I were looking for places to have dinner. We live in the area but we wanted something special since i will be spending my whole summer away. We decided to go Michi's restaurant which is just ok nothing special. I honestly would have spent the same amount of $$ in a better restaurant. I was kind of disappointed!"

"If you want to know why Michelle Bernstein is a top rated chef then eat at Michy's. This was one of the best meals I have had....ever! Everyone ordered something different and had equal comments. We were visiting Miami Beach for Spring Break, and eating at Michy's was one of the highlights of our trip. The short ribs were fall off the bone tender, the fig jam with the croquettes...we could drink by the gallon, the pasta with shellfish was wonderful, and the service was attentive but not stifling. A great meal"

"Our dinner at Michy's was memorable for all the right reasons! The food is absolutely fantastic...you can not go wrong by starting with an order of Ham & Cheese Croquettes or with the Squash Blossoms served over Shrimp Grits. Our server was attentive as well as extremely accommodating. The only reason I did not give this superb restaurant a 5 out of 5 star rating is that there are some details in the facility itself that need to be easily rectified; however, Chef Michelle and her team certainly deliver on their reputation!"

"Another Bernstein restaurant in decline. Where is she? The chef is sorely needed in this kitchen! How can you overcook a steak (ordered "medium rare") when you are the ONLY table in a restaurant? We've been coming to this restaurant for more than 6 years and sadly this was our last visit. The place was empty and food was sub-par. Only highlights were the terrific Zak's bread and the carryover from Sra Martinez, the croquettas.
The mood and tone seem eerily similar to our visits at this same time last year to Senora's, just days before it was closed forever. One by one, they keep falling. We were huge fans for years and find it sad to see the slow decline of this empire.

Staff were so gracious - even called us a cab back to our hotel. They really made the dinner special and I'm definitely going back the next time I'm in Miami! Thank you"

"I had higher expectation after having read all the positive reviews about chef Michelle. The food was very good but was not special. The location is not desirable and for the decor, they really need a professional. The decor is kitschy and does not relate to the food and quality."

"Amazing food - short ribs were incredible, as was the bread pudding dessert. My friend ordered the watercress salad with goat cheese and green grapes and loved her meal as well. We were staying in SoBe so venturing to Michy's (in Little Haiti) was a bit of a trek but well worth the cab ride."

"My husband and I were in Miami for our anniversary and booked a table at Michy's at the recommendation of a friend. It was one of the best meals I've had in my life. The service was attentive, the sommelier a guy named Nick who had his shirt tails hanging outside his pants and an open collar, which took a lot of the stuffiness out of the wine thing. We chose a four course tasting menu with wine flight - it was our anniversary after all - and had special dietary needs. We eat fish, but no meat or chicken and no shellfish. Michelle, the chef, created a delicious feast for us, and the wines to match. Great restaurant in a funky neighborhood."

"We are a couple from Spain. After travelling around Florida for 2 weeks we found Michy's the best restaurant of our trip by far. It really serves good food for the American standard.
All dishes we ordered were well presented and had a good taste balance... you could recognize all ingredients and enjoy them without any of them outstand from the others.
Service was also very professional.
The bill was high, but according to the food and the atmosphere, we found it was fair."

"I had a great experience when I visited Michy's last year for the first time so I decided to carry some visiting family there last week. The two appetizers were outstanding but unfortunately it went downhill from there. Out of the four entrees, no one thought their's was edible and we all left most of our portions. Some were overly salty, or had odd textures, or flavor combinations. We decided to share a dessert, the bread pudding, but it was so underdone and "mushy" that it was also inedible. I had that bread pudding last year and it was a lot better then. It was quite an embarrassing experience to have my guests be so disappointed by their meals."

"For my boyfriend and I it is hard to find a place where we not only love the food but where we also can not pick apart the service. He is a well studied and experienced chef and I have worked every area of the FOH from hostess to manager and for the two of us to have an overall great experience is uncommon. I was even inclined to try food I know I'm not a big fan of because the course before was so yummy I had to trust my taste buds and ignore previous disappointments. While revisiting certain dishes such as the ceviche and snapper my boyfriend was overjoyed when I didn't have to hold back the "yuck" face."

"We had been waiting a long time to get back to Miami and finally have a chance to try Michelle Bernstein's Michy. It was so worth the wait. This cozy spot in an out of the way neighborhood (for tourists anyway) is so charming. Let me start by insisting that anyone who walks through Michy's door should be obligated to order the creamy polenta with crisp bacon lardons, a perfectly soft runny egg and truffle. It was at once one of the simplest and most complex things I have ever eaten. Delicious.
The ceviche was perfect. The beet salad with burrata initially seemed under seasoned until I had a bite with all the components together. Perfect.
