"This restaurant could be so good, but it isn't. The staff is highly unorganized which left us waiting over an hour for our food (from the time we sat down to the time the food was delivered to our table). The food itself was overpriced and OK at best. The only redemption for Summit House is the view. But don't forget that you have to pay for the Gondola to the top... which makes the price of this OK food even more outrageous. Overall, we will not be dining here again and we will discourage others from wasting their money."

"I was told that this place was only good for the view and that the food was so-so and thus I went with sort of low expectations of the food. Sure enough, the view was breathtaking... the weather was kind to us so it was clear although a bit windy but nothing extreme. The added bonus was that the food was actually very good. I had the duck confit while my hubby got the braised shoulder. Everything was tender and tasty!"

"We took my mom there for her 59th birthday to celebrate. We did get seated right away at our reserved time, from there it was all downhill. It took about 15 minutes just to order drinks, another 15 to get them and just over one hour before we got our food. We asked if there was a problem and the rude waitress just shrugged and said "we're busy".
When our food did come it was mediocre and my moms and husbands meals were cold. Not just not warm but actually cold. The assistant manager finally came out (10+ minutes after we'd asked to see someone) and did offer to help with the check.
Overall it was pretty disappointing, except for the view which was simply amazing."

"It is highly recommended to make reservations. We did see walk-ins turned away. We had a seat with a view of Mount Rainier and the outdoor seating. The beet salad was tasty and a perfect size to share as an appetizer. The burger is a nice hand-made thick patty and cooked over an open flame, also very tasty. The pork dish was not what I expected from the menu description. I expected more potatoes. It had a small handful of small diced potatoes. The pork was tender and flavorful, but could have been a little warmer temperature. The arugula greens it was served with can handle a little heat. The beer was poured very nicely, right to the rim. The whiskey was also a nice generous pour. I have been here once before and would return again."

"After eating in resort top restaurants like the Seattle Ridge and Roundhouse on Baldy in Sun Valley, we were expecting a little more from the Summit House. Damp wall to wall carpet lent a funk to the overall atmosphere. I was a little disappointed that we had reservations and we were seated at a fairly poor table while walk ins off the slopes were given better seating. The food was good but the portions were small in comparison to the price. Service was a little slow, although there seemed to be plenty of staff. Add in the extra charge for the gondola ride and the two plus hour drive from Seattle to get there, it could be a deal killer. But, it was on our bucket list and we've been there and done that."

"Unique experience year round. Actually very good food for being 7,000 feet up a mountain at the end of a spectacular gondola ride. Good menu variety. Nice vibe. Attentive, engaged and fun staff with a focused but relaxed attitude. An off-the-beaten-path hidden gem one would not expect to encounter at a ski and hiking center."

"The food is not a reason to go to the summit house. The menu choices were very limited and do not allow much choice for vegetarians. The meat selection was also limited and the food was at best ok.
The scenery remains a reason to visit this place but I would consider just riding the car to the top of the mountain and foregoing the eating experience.The cost performance is low."

"Service is not very good! Had to ask for refills on our water and soda! Wanted to leave sooner after eating but has to wait for a while for our total receipt! My kids would like some desert but I'm tired of waiting for another long time! Disappointed cuz there's no substitution on food!

"This place is awesome! The views are breathtaking - beyond description! The food is good (I had The Burger, my wife had the Steak), neither was worth writing home about, and both were priced about twice what you'd pay at sea-level, but what do you expect from a restaurant that sits at 6800 feet and has to transport EVERYTHING 2500' right up the side of a snow covered mountain? The "steak fries" were, however, exceptional! Next time up I'll be asking to skip the burger and get $15 in fries! The scenic Gondola ride up is outstanding! The first little stretch up - last down - is really steep. It goes nearly straight up from the base up and over a ridge. It becomes more meandering after that on its 10 min journey up."

"This is not a fine dining establishment. They should close the restaurant when it gets windy so diners don't have to worry about getting down the mountain at the end of their meal. Our fried oysters were burned rocks and had to be re-made. The spare ribs were a bit dry. Polenta entree was boring. I really don't think a chef was on hand."

"Service was great, almost seemed personalized for the drinks which was a treat. Where else can you ride a Gondola to 6900' and have a gourmet lunch. It was decent weather and then clouds came in but who controls that :)
We talked about how they must work so hard to deliver items there and on our way back saw them loading wine bottles in boxes onto the Gondola, at least they don't wait in line.
Very friendly staff and with the logistics involved you would expect prices to be higher and the food decent and it was."

"I was very disappointed with the food. I was given three options - none of them were sounding appetizing. When my food arrived (25 minutes later), the dish was cold and had a pile of bacon on top. While I love bacon, this barely cut it for bacon - more fat and grizzle than actual bacon. It was also a very small portion size with just 2-3 slices of potatoes to pay off that 'fritata on a bed of potatoes' meal description.
I went here last year for the same first tracks experience. It was buffet style which is a much more suitable way to deal with the meal variation issue.
But at the end of the day, this visit wasn't really about the food...it was a powder day and everyone left their plates unfinished to hit the snow."

"Was a clear day and the scenery was spectacular. The food was pricey, but for a special occasion we didn't mind. The food was ok. We had the poutine and the fondue. The fondue was typical for fondue, and fit it will with the ski ambience. The poutine, wan't really poutine at all. Instead of cheese curds they used ripped up slices of chedder cheese and instead of gravy they used ground up chorizo. Not what I what I would call poutine. They had two beers on tap, an IPA and a lager, however the waitress never said where they were from. Go for the scenery and the experience."
