"Food is normally good, but this time it was just pedestrian. Nothing special and no need to run back. We had a group of 6 for dinner (2 CEO's from major wall street firms) and everyone was dressed elegantly. We were seated downstairs in the "library" area which isn't special & made us feel like we were in the back 40. In the middle of it the music came on too loud & the Red Hot Chili Peppers were blasted. Our waiter we only saw a few times..he never refilled anything & he was a seasoned waiter who should know better. A disappointing dinner & no need to return anytime soon. You're better off having wine in the bar in order to escape the mediocrity of it all."

"The food and service were excellent as usual. We brought friends from out of town and as soon as we walked in the door the bad smell almost made us walk out. I was embarrassed because we told our friends how nice the restraunt was. The smell was a combination of bad fish and some type of cleaning solution. We have been there at least 10 times and never experiened a problem like that. Again the food and service were excellent , but the smell was terrible."

"The Bungalow should be viewed as a Bar and not a place for good food. I was very unimpressed with the quality of my French onion Soup and flavorless Short ribs. FOr the prices they charge, this restaurant and the kitchen staff should re-think their recipes. The same 2 items are available at the Nordstrom's Cafe nearby for 1/2 the price and twice the quality and flavor."

Ordered grilled artichoke appetizer, server brought in a to-go bag; re-plated
We each ordered a glass of wine. My wife's came with a LOT of cork in it; replaced
When dessert time rolled, we were given menus. Thought maybe we'd get one freebie to share as was our anniversary; nothing.
Nothing mentioned to us during whole time about anniversary. They had to see that as they honored my booth request which was in the reservation as well.
Bill came, no mention of minor issues or apologies.
This, as well as a bad experience by our friends a few weeks earlier. May rethink next time we might want to come here."

"Disappointing. We had the bone-in filet and the salmon on greens. The filet was a special and it was overpriced and very average. The salmon, which I order every time, tasted like it had been frozen. The special appetizer of heirloom tomatoes and bits of lobster was very good but the price was ridiculous, $22.00 (which the waiter should have told us ahead of time.) The atmosphere is nice but we couldn't even get a booth like we usually do because we didn't 'request' it ahead of time. The bill was expensive for two people with only one glass of wine and a shared dessert."

"This was our first time at the Bungalow - we'd been hearing good things and decided to celebrate our daughter's birthday there. The staff was wonderfully accomodating - we loved the atmoshphere - and each of us enjoyed our meals.Short Ribs, Filet, Prime Rib Eye and the Roast Chicken - all excellent. My husband claims the caesar salad to be the best yet. Will come back for dinner on the outdoor patio next time!"

WE ARRIVED AT 5:00 AND HAD THE DOWNSTAIRS ROOM TO OURSELVES..COMPLETE WITH A LITTLE STOVE FIREPLACE!! WE WERE VERY PLESED WITH THE AMBIANCE OF THE RESTAURANT. "The service from check in to the waiter was very good here. The restaurant has two levels and we were taken to the less desirable downstairs area. This would be a good area for a large group but not for just my wife and I. However, i only made the reservation two hours before on a busy Saturday night. The Prime filet and the Sea Bass were both very good and flavorful. This was our first time at this restaurant but we will be back."

"We have been there before and been VERY pleased. But this time they seated us next to the door to the outside seating area and it was VERY chilly. Unfortunately we didn't realize it till too late. Also, the bus staff started clearing dishes before everyone at the table was finished and I HATE that. The waiter was either jammed or just didn't care but had a somewhat indifferent attitude. For those prices, I expect MUCH more. That being said, the food was, as always, very good"

"Too many other choices to make this one worthwhile. Service was horrible, wine only poured for men. Women in our party got a splash periodically. Wouldn't seat us until the other couple arrived, though the booth was reserved and available. This isn't a casual dining place. We spent over $300 before tip for a party of 4, yet we felt like our waiter couldn't be bothered to serve us. Just not worth the aggravation. We had picked the restaurant this time, and we were embarrassed that we did."

"Truly our favorite local restaurant. We eat here often, bring executive friends and family, and send clients here on a regular basis, with no warning, and always receive rave reviews. We were back in town between business trips for one day and we chose to eat here. Even with a surprise rush that filled every seat in the house, the staff still managed to provide phenomenal food in a timely manner. If you didn't know the dilemma existed you didn't perceive an issue. The night was flawless, as usual, albeit a bit loud with a packed house, wood floors and ceilings. Kudos to David an his staff. "We went for Restaurant week and really enjoyed the selections that were offered. The food was fantastic, service was great and the restaurant gave a great vibe - however, it did seem VERY loud. My Dad mentioned that this was the first time in a restaurant where he really understood why "older" people complain about not being able to hear while enjoying a great meal - he had a very hard time hearing people talk across the same table. I did find the noise to be at a much higher level than a normal dining room."

"Went there for Newport Beach Restaurant Week dinner. Food was great, I had short ribs, my friend has salmon. Both were cooked to perfection. The 1st & 3rd courses were good but nothing special. A house salad & a scoop of ice cream with berries. My only issue was their drink special $5 glass of house wine was only available in the bar. After being seated 2 tables away from the bar (it's a small place), we asked our waiter if we could order the $5 wine & he said "only in the bar." So we got up, walked 10 feet to the bar and ordered our wine. The bartender said it would be fine to take back to the table. Meanwhile, the waiter had cleared our table and didn't seem too happy when we returned... just a little annoying."

"My husband and I both had the blackened wild salmon and Bungalow salad which were outstanding. Maybe the best salmon entree we have ever eaten. We will go back soon and have the exact same dinner! We have been to Bungalow a few times and the food is always excellent."
