"Our party of eight decided to go to the Roof to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. It was my first time there. I was very pleased with the whole experience. The food is varied, fresh and of high quality. The service is outstanding. No wait, very responsive yet discreet. The view is fantastic.
I was worried that the 1 hour 30 minute limit would be a problem, but since there was no wait at all, we were well fed, entertained and ready to go in less than that time. I cannot think of anything wrong with this place."

"This place was perfect for our special night out. A window table over-looking Temple Square in Salt Lake City, live pianist and well prepared foods and desserts. I usually do not prefer buffets but I will make an exception for this one - not the typical. Not a large space so I would make a reservation (they require a credit card to do that)."

"The cost of our dinner for two ended up being $104, standard tip and one bottle of sparking water included. The view is beautiful, the service is impeccable, but the food served does not make this a $104 meal. We have eaten at high end restaurants in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Sonoma Valley.... For that price, the other restaurant's food was far above what is served at the Roof. Their prime rib was good but only given out in paper thin slices. The dessert bar has many good desserts, but it doesn't make up for the just average "raw vegetables and a few pasta dishes" buffet. The food was fine IF we had only paid $20 per person. But for the $39.99 base price per person, the just average offerings on their buffet were below expectations."

"I have been to many places in the world that cost about this much with a view and all, but the food was so much better. This is average compared to those. I was apologized to for not being very fast and forgetful of the things I had requested. The music was wonderful. My husband was disappointed that they didn't give him a bigger piece of prime rib. It was sliced like roast beef. If he wanted that, we could have cooked it at home. For the price they should give you more. I did mention to the server that the creme brulee was not very good. Don't know if it was a bad batch, but the custard was grainy and not smooth. All in all, it was average, but I would probably go again on a special occasion."

"We made our reservations for later in the evening, and then my mother was rushed to the hospital. We called, and they were able to move up our reservation with no hassle. The service was great, the staff was super friendly. The pianist was very talented. The food was a buffet, but it was very classy, and the food was very tasty. They also had unlimited dessert, and the fountain drinks were included in the price. The view of the temple was incredible also, very very pretty. My wife cried because of her favorite Disney music played by the pianist. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet romantic evening away from the kids. Prices online are correct.Make a reservation, and reserve a window seat"

"We went for our 5 year anniversary and were very pleased. The selection of food was great and we loved our server, she was very helpful. The piano player was excellent and of coarse the view...beautiful! "Food was so so. The carving station was vacant quite a bit of the time. We would stand around waiting for them to show up again. Prime rib was over cooked, cheese plate edges of cheese were dry and curled up and the clam chowder was flour heavy and bland. But, hey, the view was incredible!"

"Always a fantastic buffet worth the higher price. Unique dishes of huge variety so artistically displayed. Food to please every palate. The piano player adds the ambience without drowning out you conversations. We have been there to see the sunset over the city and a million lights turn on to a snow storm and now a rain and dust storm. All have provided great views and entertainment out the 10th floor picturesque windows. Perfect place for that special occasion."

"Food good not great, just like always. View always good. Service this time poor, waitress looked like she should have been at Denny's on the night shift. Lazy, always asking if we wanted our drinks refilled, YA! for $40.00 a person don't ask just bring the drinkie, drinkie. Still left a $20.00 tip 5% of bill, she earned $0.00. Kids like it, so I will keep going, management needs to set some expectations for the help. Not worth $250.00 for 90 minutes of average."

"Be aware that the Roof has changed their deserts. The old desert tables with pies, cakes, cheesecakes, chocolate covered strawberries, cobbler etc is all gone. They have moved to individual portions. (quarter size). It looks like they don't want you to take too much. Desert tables are equal to or lower than Chuck A Rama. Prime rib is excellent along with the pork dish but the beef medalions were too tough. Great atsmophere but the qualityof food has gone downhill"

"My wife and I attended the restaurant for our 4th anniversary. We enjoyed the food as all of it appeared freshly prepared. The view was the best in the valley from inside a building. Though there were several couples there, we still felt as if we had our own private spot. We will definitely return again for a future anniversary celebration."

"This was our first time eating there (in cebration of our anniversary). We loved it. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We commented that we've never had a better waitress then we did at the roof. The food was delicious and the overall experience was just perfect. Definitely coming back sometime!"

"The pasta dish was dull in flavor, not very warm. The flank steak did not have much flavor as well. And the chicken was dry which surprised me. Your biggetst compliment that I hear from friends is to save room for the desserts. Which is true they were all very good. Especially the bread pudding!"

"We eat at the Roof every year for our Anniversary, and usually bring other people to celebrate with us! I was a little disappointed this year. The food was not as enjoyable as in the past and I was disappointed in how much the cost has gone up. =o/"

"The ambiance was wonderful. My husband and I went and it was incredibly romantic. However, the food was sub-par and we were disappointed. It was fun to go there once, but I doubt that we will go back. Even though the atmosphere was amazing, the food wasn't worth the price. Also, the waiters were surprisingly stingy with the fresh rolls, the one thing that wasn't available from the buffet, and the best food there."

"We have never been to such a wonderful buffet style dinner. My wife has allergies to certain spices and peppers. The chef, actually made certain dishes special for her so shecould taste these foods for the first time. It was a beautiful scenic view high above thecity, seeing a birds-eye of Temple Square on one side and the Capital building and the Avenues homes. The service was extraordinary. The pianist was very talented and the ambiance was nothing we have ever experienced. We are in power chairs and she is on oxygen, and they gave us a table that was in the perfect location. We were out of the way of other diners but in a area making it easy for us to go get our foods."

"My fiance and I went out because we heard it was a nice place. The food was just okay. I didn't appreciate the 90min time limit on our dinner though. If you go to this place you'd better eat quickly. Our waitress said that the next guests had "already checked in" so we had to leave. I came back though because I had forgotten my purse and there were several empty tables, including the one we just left. If I had known I wouldn't have left such a great tip! If you're going to temple square I guess it's the place to go but again, keep a timer with you."
