"Harry & Izzy's is usually one of my favorite places. We had reservations for Mothers Day (later in the afternoon to avoid the holiday crowd). I had my heart set on the Garbage Salad - my entire reason for wanting to go there. When we ordered I was told that it had been taken off the menu a couple of weeks before and I wasn't the only person that day that had asked about it.
I ordered the lamb which was OK but a lot of flavor. And my side "asparagus (at an extra charge)" came after I was almost through with my meat.iI also was not well-seasoned. We had to ask for bread during the entree course, which should have been on the table with our salads.
For the amount of our bill ($120 for 2), I was underwhelmed; expecting more from H&I."

"Harry & Izzy's is a favorite and we dine there often. While I always give them the highest marks, Mothers Day lunch was disappointing. We made our reservation two weeks ahead, for 2 people at 11 am. We were seated at a 2-top inside the door of the back room, a very busy place to sit. We asked for a different table before sitting down and were told that all the empty tables around us were taken. We sat down and my view was into the kitchen. We quickly realized we were also sitting under a very cold air vent. After 10 minutes, my husband again requested a different table and we were taken upstairs to sit near the prep area. Food was good, but my husband's was incorrect. He ate it without complaint, rather than make another request."

"The food was outstanding as always. Although the service was far from great. Our server came to our table twice trying to order cocktails as he didn't notice I already had one sitting in front of me. Our server was never in the area when we needed something or the table behind us. The family's table behind us waited 20 minutes for a side of a-1 sauce for their steak. A little rediculous as You pay $50.00 for a steak. Our server deff did not deserve the $33.00 tip that was left for him. I will return back to the restraunt as the food is amazing. Just watch out for the chubby waiter in the back!!!"

Service... I loved our server. She was very friendly and pleasant in every way. I wish I could have seen more of her. Each time she told us she would be back... eventually she did. She had to be asked 2 or 3 times for certain things and then... wait & wait.

Ambience and Noise Level go together for me. We were taking a rather large guest to dinner for his birthday. He barely fit in the booth and the noise level was so high we could barely talk to each other.

"First time. Open, inviting atmosphere - nice mix of 40's glam and modern retro. Service personable, attentive and receptive - when we wanted more time Lou knew exactly when to check back in without hovering or forgetting us. St. Elmos shrimp still a hit. Menu more current. NY Strip Izzy style was excellent, particularly with the Dry Creek Zin. Filet melted in mouth. Salmon was delicious and an enormous serving. All 3 in party continued to talk about the green beans -- they were perfectly tender and delicious. Defeinitely worthy of return visit. Looking forward to cocktails on the patio."

"Very attractive decor, very busy on the Friday night we went for dinner. The steaks were good--but not great. The clear winner was the pork chop...tender, nicely smoked, 2 large chops filled the plate. Wine list is quite good, with prices at about double retail. While the food was well-prepared, it wasn't fantastic. However, the service was excellent. Our friendly and skilled server, Lindsey, was there when we wanted her, but did not intrude otherwise. I would recommend. I'd also recommend the bar or the outside dining. Both are lively and a lot of fun."

"My wife and I decided to splurge for our anniversary and chose Harry & Izzy's. The food was wonderful and the service was outstanding. Our server was very knowledgeable about the product and well cared for us during our visit. The only complaint was that we were seated in what appeared to be a banquet room, along with a large party of 30+ people. The group was loud and created a less than romantic atmosphere. If/when we do return, we will probably request seats in another area of the restaurant or just sit in the bar."

"Saturday nights are loud, but the food was truly wonderful. One of my guests left saying it was her new favorite restaurant in Indiana, having dined many places. The only thing I should bring up is that I once had pork chops at the location doentown, and for some reason, those were phenomenal while the ones on the north side were definitely below par.
The filet sliders are amazing. The fish superbly done. The lobster and corn chowder was ok, but could use a little more flavor. It just seemed a little off somehow. I definitely appreciate the lumps of lobster though. No complaints in that regard.
Nice staff. Great food. We will come back again and again. I'll just reserve the pork chops for the downtown location."

"We celebrated my 60th birthday. It was great that a table of 8 could talk and hear each other. Many restaurants are too noisy. The service was fabulous and we were never rushed. Thanks for a memorable evening. We will definitely return!"

"Not your traditional Sunday brucnh, but outstanding. We return periodically for the steak & egg sliders. Similar to their normal lunchtime sliders, but with scrambled eggs and creamed spinach. Melt in your mouth. Bloody Mary's take the place of shrimp cocktail for spicy and the meal is complete."

"I often dine at H & I's downtown and love it. It's my favorite place to go. I was disappointed in the Northside dining location. Way too noisy to carry on a conversation and not be a bother to the table beside you. I probably will not return to the Northside location."
