LB Steak, a modern American Steakhouse, is led by two culinary titans: James Beard nominee and owner of San Francisco’s renowned La Folie, Roland Passot, and fellow French Master Chef, Joel Guillon.

"We went for Mother's Day Brunch and were very pleased with everything. The service and food were excellent. The Manager and staff were very friendly and greeted us when we arrived. They didn't have a children's menu posted on the website so I e-mailed the Office Director a couple of days before who promptly responded and sent me a menu to take a look at. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back for lunch of dinner."

"We eaten at most Santana Row restaurants but for some reason hadn't yet eaten at LB Steak. We decided to go for Mother's Day and have found our new favorite Santana Row restaurant! The service couldn't have been better, from when we were greeted by the hostess, to our waiter and servers throughout the meal... everyone was very friendly and attentive. The food selection was perfect, something to satisfy everyone in our party. The food was well prepared and delicious!"

"If you can get a seat outside on Santana Row it would be worth it , but we sat inside- nothing special. We had a reservation but hostess seemed frazzled we showed up 15 minutes early.
Steaks were pricey ($49). Our server was great , funny, engaging, but was way too busy to give us much attention. We ordered appetizers - scallops with rhubarb ($20) - weird combo - rhubarb was horrible but 3 scallops were fine. my friends ordered burger (average) with fries (good) and pasta dish was so bad my other friend only ate half. We bought a $75 bottle of Chardonnay - but it was not cold enough. Waiter was nice enough to search for an ice bucket and got us one - a bit late though. We decided to go for dessert elsewhere."

"my moms birthday was lovely and she enjoyed how friendly everyone was...the managr john said they would bring her out a special bday dessert but that never came...it would have been nice if it had come it would have made it all that more special...but even though it never showed up my mom was happy (she is hard to please) and she loved her meal and all the staff. thank you"

"There were a few reviews about the service but we decided to take a chance since there were a fair amount of good reviews about the food. Our server, Chad gave us a warm greeting and since it was our first time, he did make recommendations that we did consider. He was very knowledgeable about many of the menu items. The fried Calamari had thinly sliced lemon fried with the calamari which was unique and tasty. His recommendation of the dry aged ribeye was spot on and it indeed carried its own unique flavor without any sauces. My friend had the bone-in filet, medium rare which was done to perfection and paired well with the red wine sauce. The beignets were ok but did not affect our overall experience."

"We came to LB for a date night and my boyfriend had never been. The Server was fantastic. She had a great personality but made sure not to interrupt us too much throughout the dinner. She would just casually come by and fill up our glasses of wine as needed. The food was cooked to perfection. My steak had amazng flavor to it and basically melted in your mouth and the Mac and cheese is NEVER disappointing there. I was very upset that the scalloped potatos are no longer on the menu at this point in time. A boring old baked potato was not what I had in mind but oh well. The placed was packed and yet the noise level was perfect. Over all the experience was a good one and we will definitely be back."

"A friend and I went to LB Steak at Santana Row before a movie last Sunday. We got there before the crowd, and it was a *very* nice experience. They don't fool around with their steaks--very nice, and some very interesting appetizers and salads. Sadly, we were avoiding wine and dessert for all of the obvious reasons, but I'm betting that they do a very nice job of those too!"

"Upon arrival, we were happy with our seating arrangement. We were please that the hostess put our champagne (from home) on ice. However, we then sat and sat and waited. The waiter working the tables around us wouldnt even look at us. It was so odd! We literally sat for 10 minutes without acknowledgement. Another femal waiter walked by, no acknowledgment. ! I finally had to gran the first waiter and ask if be knew who our where our waiter was. He unhappily claimed it was someone else but he would "help out" in the meantime, told us the specials and left. My husband said "thats it!" and opened our champagne. Waiter came back apologetic and said he'd waive the corkage fee and had decided to be our waiter? Service good after that. Food supberb"

"The experience at LB Steak starts with your server. Very knowlegdable in the food and winelist, he made the evening flow. As we had a table of 5 dining, we had the opportunity to taste a variety of dishes. The scallop appetizer with citrus was fabulous, as were the oysters. Dinner included some of the finest beef that I've encountered in San Jose. Every dish was cooked to order. Presentation was appropriate, not over the top. Side dishes were cooked perfectly. The wine list has a good variety of offerings, but is not overly large to confuse the average wine drinker. After dinner choices are nicely laid out with the dessert choices. Overall a fantastic dinner! Be prepared to spend money here, though."

"Took the family there for my son's 25th birthday. Wow, what a disappointment. I expected so much more for the very high prices. This is a steak house and my "dry aged" New York was supposed to be more tender than their "regular" cut, but I found it to be tough. One end was more than tough, actually kind of hard.
In our party of five, two of us had the filet and they were both underdone.
The sides were described as sharable among 3-4, but I though the portions to be too small for that. The mac&cheese was good, just not great. The baked potato should have been as big as a football, but was about what I find at Safeway."

"My friend who was visiting from Hong Kong was in meat heaven - she ate a big chunk of my aged rib eye on top of her order which was the house specialty - the bone in strip. The aged rib eye was fantastic! She had an absolutely great time, made all the more memorable by the great friendly service. Highly recommend for anyone who is entertaining out of town visitors."

"Came for St Patrick's Day pre-fixe dinner. 2 dinners, 2 glasses of wine - $110 w/ tip. Service was sloooow. Soup starter was poured tableside, nice touch - but it was obvious crostini had been sitting around for a while. Corned beef, cabbage, potato was OK at best. Broth was very salty, corned beef quite tough. Dessert was good, however. Probably won't be back."

"We went to have a nice dinner for my husbands birthday. There were three of us, our 17 year old daughter and he and I. We had an 8:00 pm reseration and were not seated until 9:00.. And this was a Wednesday evening. At one point, about 8:40, after going,back to the hostess AGAIN, a table was vacating and she said that would be ours. Well, around 9:00, I noticed that there was a new group there! Got the manager involved, the hostess lied to the manager regarding that she told us it was to be our table. Anyway, we did then get seated right away, we got a comp appetizer and food was fine. The waiters or people brimging out food were mixed-up as to what tables the food belonged to! They were pleasant enough! Very much expense account folk"

"I loved the food! The waiter was amazing and very knowledgeable. The front desk service however was poor. I placed a reservation for 7:30pm the day before in order to time my dinner before a movie. We were finally seated at 7:57pm. I watched 2 other parties walk in with no reservation and the lady at the front desk told them it would be a 1 hr wait to be seated but then asked if they wouldn't mind eating outside for immediate seating. As a guest WITH a reservation, I would expect the front desk person to at least ask if I would like to be seated outside as well especially since the weather was warm that evening."

"This was my first time at LB Steak. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The place is LOUD. Unbelievably loud. We ordered 2 appetizers, oysters and steak tartare. The food was mediocre, beautifully presented, but not remarkable otherwise. The service was horrific, terrible, laughably bad. We would wait 20 minutes at a time to get anything. The server was neither smiling nor pleasant, simply aloof. We ordered steaks for dinner, which were cooked properly. We didn't order dessert,were waiting half an hour with the menu before the server returned and didn't want to spend an hour on dessert. We left feeling like we had just left a concert, ears ringing. Never again."

"It was my wife's birthday, we decided to try their wagyu beef. We had reservations at 8:30 pm, we were there at 8:30 but we were not seated until 8:50(ish) pm. They might have over booked the place, or maybe accommodated the walk ins first, but while we were waiting, there were three others guests complaining to the hostess why they were waiting so long. After 20 something minutes we were seated, I was hoping it was a little quieter for me and my wife, and my mom, but it was kind'a loud, we almost could not even hear the waiter while he was talking. Anyways, the food is excellent, I don't know if it was just that time of the day, or is it always that loud, but it was Wednesday evening."

"On a Saturday night it was a lively scene but it was definitely older than I had anticipated. The service was a little slow and somewhat in attentive to our needs throughout the evening. The ribeye was much thinner than what I have had at other steakhouses, I think I will return but for the other menu items not te stek. The BLT salad was different and delicious!"

"The food was good, if a bit over-priced. Of course for the area thats normal. The pork belly was the best! Our server was amazing and she was very attentive and sweet. I went with my boyfriend for his birthday and it was too loud for it to be romantic. We were also kind of seated at a smaller table by the kitchen. The menu was a little strange, not sure it would be good for children, but it seems like a nice place to go for a work party or with a group of friends. I'd go back, just not expecting something more intimate!"

"Love this place! From the bartender to the servers, everyone was so friendly and helpful. We sat at the bar for a coctail before dinner and the bartender was so friendly and helpful. Our server was so eager to explain every detail of the various cuts of meat they had on the menu and gave us her personal recommendations. Four of us dined and we decided to each try a different cut of meat. I had the prime cut 12oz ribeye, my husband had the dry aged ribeye and our friends shared the chop steak. All were very delicious and flavorful in their own way. I had the scallops to accompany my steak. They were seared perfectly and just melted in my mouth. Only complaint is they could have been a little lighter on the salt."
