MoCo's Founding Farmers is the newest iteration of Founding Farmers, one of the most popular restaurants in the U.S. With a fresh, seasonal menu of farmhouse favorites and new American traditional dishes, our menus of true food and drink offer something for everyone, in a modern and eco-friendly urban farmhouse setting.

In addition to serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, MoCo's Founding Farmers hosts a unique “Afternoon Social,” providing a modern afternoon break for area entrepreneurs looking for a respite from coffee houses, local mom groups with toddlers in tow and retirees craving a place to socialize and a bite to eat. The Afternoon Social menu features tea sandwiches, scones, tea, cocktails, cookies and other desserts.

"We had a great experience taking our family to FF for the first time. The waitress gave great recommendations for food and drinks. We had a great table with plenty of room. The only complaint I had was that there was a chicken bone in my enchiladas. I know that this can happen, but was surprised to find it."

"I have been to the Founding Farmers in DC, but this was my first time in the Montgomery County location. Everything was excellent. I had the stuffed french toast with blueberry compote. I also got to try the banana's foster one. Also had some of the hashbrowns and bacon and everything was really excellent. Our waitress was also very sweet. Only complaint was waiting about 10-15 minutes for a table even with a reservation. Otherwise, very satisfied."

"I made a reservation for Brunch a few days prior and the reservation was for 4 and the day of another friend decided to join and they quickly were able to find us a table within minutes of our reservation that would meet our needs.

We'd never been to FF before but had all heard the great reviews so we decided to celebrate my birthday by having brunch there and my friends decided to tell our waiter B/Ryan and he was so thoughtful and helpful in navigating through the menu to help us find exactly what we were in the mood for.

He went so far as bringing out a little plate with a candle for me to "make a wish" on. Very sweet.

Would TOTALLY go back.

Oh and the food - FU-NOM-MIN-ALL!! Everything was absolutely delish!"

"While visiting from out of town a friend suggested Founding farmers to us as our special meal together on our last night. We were not sure what to expect besides fresh local ingredients. When we arrived we were seated quickly (we had reservations) and were excited about the menu. Our server Mike was so helpful with finding drinks and appetizers that suited our group. He also answered the endless questions we had about all of the delicious menu items. Their home made sodas were all amazing! Every entre was a hit, my personal favorite, which is worth every penny, were the crab cakes! What a great meal? Worth the price of admission!"

"We had brunch reservations for 7 people on a Sunday morning and we were all very pleased with the experience. Everyone was able to order exactly what they wanted and we were all impressed with how good each of our dishes were. Our table was seated next to the door, and even on a busy morning it wasn't too noisy or crowded. The ambiance is casual and relaxed, which was perfect for the occasion."

"Though this place is a bit of a distance, it is worth the ride! I live in DC and I do like the Founding Farmers in DC, however, this Potomac location has better food, service and ambiance. You receive healthy helpings and may choose from a very diverse menu. The drink menu is also great! The food tastes exactly as it should: flavorful!!! The service is great as all the staff are friendly. I think brunch is the best and I recommend for groups. This Founding Farmers is located in a great neighborhood where you can have a seat outside once you're done eating to wind down. I'll definitely be back and recommend to friends."

"Founding Farmers bills itself as an environmentally friendly, sustainable food restaurant. To that end, it's great that they have a separate meatless menu. However, as a vegan, I was disappointed that there were only two vegan entrees, and they were out of one of them. So I ordered the same thing I had last time: "Bacon" burger. It was OK, but not worth the price. Given that veganism is a very sustainable lifestyle, I would have expected more options for us vegans.

On the other hand, the drink I ordered was delicious.

Overall, though, I find the place overpriced."

"As always, the entire Founding Farmers experience was excellent! The small plates at the beginning were amazing---don't miss the cracked black pepper wings or the fried green tomatoes! The service was prompt and our server was great at answering all the questions our table had, and everything came out just as we ordered. Every time I have been to either this location or the DC location, the food and service has been amazing, I highly recommend it...just make sure to reserve early!"

"I had memories from the donwtown Founding Farmers that the food was better and the place more sophisticated. So I was a bit disappointed. The quantities are enormous, so better order half and share. "We love the DC location and have been there several times. We were coming for the large, fresh salads. We ordered the Farmer's Salad, and were disappointed. While salads in the DC location are rich and full of good ingredients, here it was the same pile of iceberg lettuce that you get everywhere, very lightly sprinkled with too few bits of fruit and vegetables (cherry tomatoes and olives mostly. Other items were barely present), and some cheese. Very disappointing. We also ordered the grilled cheese, which comes with a tomato soup. This was very tasty and fun, as it is in DC. We also ordered locally brewed beers, which were good. We sat at the bar, where service was very professional and friendly."

"We went for brunch. The food was fantastic; great options. Several selections that were unique. Best grits since living in SC. The noise level was insane. "First time we went the food was adequate and the service fair. We thought it was us. Tried again and no big change. We read and hear great things about this place and we didn't see it. Service staff was inattentive,ordered ice tea and a lemonade and the lemonade showed up after the entrée came - told the bar was backed up.? Had the meatloaf and would say it was dry, lacked flavor . The mash potatoes were good. The Northern Fixed Chicken - don't bother. Overall it wasn't a good experience. Don't understand."

"This place has the best sodas! All flavorings and even the ice is made in house. On this visit, we did not have any alcohol, but I k ow the "Dark and Stormy" is the best. The vegetarian options keep a wide group happy, but the fried chicken amd waffles are a great ode to southern cooking.

"In my opinion this location does not match up with the one in DC but it is a lot closer. "I've been here twice, once for brunch and once for dinner. The food is good and the portions are really large. There is no miss menu, so kids have to order from the regular menu, which isn't super kid friendly. That said, I like the place and will likely return."

"maybe because it was mother's day but the french fries were not cooked thoroughly, both plates. we had to leave them on the table. it was a shame. we couldn't replace them because the waiter asked about them when we were done with our meal. the pancakes were not cooked thoroughly. they were hard and dry in the middle. which makes me curious. usually undercooked pancakes are gooey in the middle. and my son said his eggs benedict were not up to par. oh, and my table had not syrup so i stared at the pancakes until i could get the attention of the busy waiters to eventually bring me some syrup. they apologized but that was it. we've been to ff countless times. first bad experience."

"We returned recently to Founding Fathers and once again experienced great food and a fun place to eat. The menu is very diverse and can accommodate any interests including specialty items, vegetarian etc. The prices were reasonable and the wait staff were courteous and attentive. This is our new favorite restaurant and would recommend it to everyone."

"We went to Founding Farmers for Mother's Day. Out reservation was for 1:30, but we didn't get seated until after 2pm. Wouldn't have been that bad, but the small lobby was tight with everyone waitin for a table. No seating and we were all in the way. In the servers way and patrons coming and going. Other than that, the food was fantastic and the service was good. I'll go again."

"We dined at FF for Mother's Day Brunch and while it was crowded, we had a reservation so had no problems. The waiters and waitresses were wonderful and attentive and all the staff was friendly and kind. The food was as amazing as one would expect from a farm-to-table style restaurant. Our table ordered a cheeseburger and fries for one person, pork and lentil stew with a side farmers salad for another and then a side of beneits and coffee afterwards. The beneits were amazing. Absolutely delicious. They come with 3 dipping sauces and are served hot with powdered sugar. We also had mimosas which were clearly made with fresh orange juice."

"Our server Brian was very personable and informative. The menu has all kinds of interesting items on it. The food is noticabley fresh. The five at our table ordered: Bananas Foster waffles; Chicken & Waffles, Crazy Corn Salad, Ahi Tuna Salad and Roasted Chicken. Everything was delicious and there was more than enough to eat. They syrup for the waffles was really good. The salads were very flavorful. The roasted chicken was moist and the honey glaze was infused throughout the chicken and not just on the skin. I had a vanilla egg cream ot drink which was really good too. We ordered the chocolate mousse for 2 and 5 spoons for dessert. It was very well done as it was very fluffy with great chocolate flavor. We will definitely be back!"

"We've been here many times and are consistently struck by the excessive quantity and calories of the dishes. The portions are enormous and often fried. While the ingredients are fresh and apparently locally-sourced, by the time you deep fry them, they aren't particularly good for you. If they lightened up the menu and provided more reasonable portions, we could come much more often."

"FF has a neat atmosphere and I put that I'd recommend to a friend--but not with much enthusiasm. Several of us looked and looked at the menu and agreed nothing was jumping out at us. Our waitress was nice but seated us without providing all the menu cards (e.g. the meatless menu). We asked for it but our waitress forgot. Asked how much specials were; she didn't know. Biggest downer: price of drinks! Plan to spend $15 on mixed drinks or glass of most wines. One of our drink orders came wrong. A glass and a half (?) of wine runs over $15+ but there is no mention (that we saw) on the menu of what the ozs are in either case. Our food was good but not exceptional. Overall, not as great an experience as we'd hoped."

"We ate here for our anniversary. The BBQ pulled pork was definitely the favorite and the Northern Fried Chicken was a close second. Definitely on the weekends make reservations as this is a Montgomery County favorite spot and it is always busy."

"As always, the food was very good and our server, Michael, was great. Since the restaurant is so busy, the service is a bit slow. It took about 20 minutes to get a cocktail, all 3 times. The rest of the visit was very good however every time we have been there, the temperature in the building is always very warm. This time we were seated next to the windows and when the sun came shining in, it got extremely hot and was quite uncomfortable."

"Upstairs acoustics are off & it's stuffy. Low ceiling, no view out - strange building. Will request downstairs next time. Food: loved biscuits, deviled egg combo, crispy chicken, preferred thyme to the maple - (maple too sweet, needed spices). Meatloaf delicious (butter on top, how can that be bad?, too fattening for me to order, just tasted). Unfortunately, greens were without smokey ham/pork flavor (bland, bland, bland) and apples in apple pie were not fully cooked - inconsistently cut perhaps? Vanilla ice cream - some of the best. Service was just average; we seemed to have been forgotten about - it wasn't that busy in our section. I figured server was having a bad night..."
