Fresco Italian Cafe
Chef Logen Crew takes pride in creating innovative Italian food using fresh, seasonal, and local produce. We feature fresh house-made pastas, along with a nightly risotto that should not be missed. Join us on the candle lit patio, tucked back behind The King's English Bookstore, or dine with us inside in our intimate, cottage-like dining room. Browse the books at the bookstore before dinner, or have a glass of wine and wait in our garden where we grow and use some of our own produce. We do not take reservations for our patio, but we do our best to accommodate all requests. Due to the intimate size of our restaurant, parties of 5 or more should call the restaurant in order to make a reservation. We look forward to you dining with us!

"The meal was a delight and the ambiance charming. We had a lovely evening, enjoyed the opportunity for outside dining so early in the season, the people watching was great and the staff was attentive. Can't ask for much more on Mother's Day! Glad we decided to make the trek in from 11900 South for another great night of dining!"

"Fresco has been our go-to restaurant for special occasions for years. Or the top of the list for when we wanted a great dining experience. No more. I took my mother for dinner on Mother's Day and we were sadly disappointed. The young waitress insisted on calling us "dear" or "you dears"...as in a nursing home dining room. The featured prosecco was warm. The food was bland, indifferently prepared and carelessly plated. I've had better take-out roast chicken from grocery stores.
Has there been a change of general manager? Chef? No grown-ups there that day?
Would have been 1 star except for lovely ambience on patio."

"I love Fresco and have been going there for years. So it is hard for me to write this review. My visit on Mother's Day, though, was disappointing. First, the patio area is lovely but they haven't even attempted to clean out the flower beds, trim the ivy or make it look decent. It looked like there was five years of leaves and branches on the roof. There were also ants near our table. They did move an umbrella to provide shade which was nice. Second, we were served our entrees one hour and 5 minutes after we arrived. In total, the dining experience was two hours. That is fine when you want to, but we were starving, our water ran out once and it was frustrating. My gelato was also half melted when it arrived."

"The Fresco is a neighborhood gem and we are never dissapointed with the food. Italian food that runs very light on the red sauce- it is always a pleasure to see what the chef will have to offer us. They have a beautiful outdoor patio when the weather is nice. Otherwise, the size of the restaurant is tiny but cozy. It is not a place for a large or noisy group."

"We've been eating at Fresco for many years (whenever we're in SLC -- about once a year)
My impression is that there is a new chef and the results are very good. Most of the items on the March 31, 2013 menu were new to us. We had two of the pastas which were both unique and very yummy. The new (to us) wine list was also terrific. All in all, we look forward to our next visit to SLC for more than powder skiing. Also, the service provided by the wait staff is excellent."

"The server was very enthusiastic and knowledgable about the menu item. His suggestions were very helpful. The food was of high quality and very creatively prepared. The staff seemed very profess A few more wines under $50 would be appreciated. The restaurant has attempted to ameliorate the noise level by adding canvas panels to the ceiling, but the space is rather small so the tables are close together. On this visit the server spoke very clearly so we could hear the description of the specials. Also, neighboring parties spoke in conversational tones, so the noise level was moe acceptable than on a previous visit. Oh, the desserts are lovely as well."

"This was a nice little restaurant in the middle of a neighborhood. The food we ate was delicious and our server was wonderful. The space is small which created an intimate feel for just the 2 of us but also had the downside that we could clearly hear the full details of the conversation at the next table. "What a great place. It was our first time and we found the restaurant on Open Table. The location is excellent and only a few minutes from the U of Utah theater. The menu is great with a selection of Italian entrees not commonly found. The Pici was excellent as was the nightly special. There is an excellent selection of drinks and wine too. We will be back!"

"My mistake for not telling the server that we had an 8pm theater event, but I didn't think that would be necessary when you make a reservation for 5:45 pm. Fact is that we didn't get out of the restaurant until 7:35 pm! The appetizer arrived at a good point, the salad didn't arrive until 7:05 pm and dinner didn't arrive until 7:25 pm. Something was definitely going on in the kitchen that things were so unequally spaced out. I think that the service was good, but not excellent. I would definitely return because it is a nice place and nice atmosphere. I just will know a bit better about what to expect, limitations. Food was very good, very fresh and tasty."

"Our reservation day fell on a blizzard. They staff showed up and performed admirably. The food was well done - my daughter and I had grilled salmon - it was tasty and perfectly seasoned. Others in our party had the calamari appetizer, a two pork choices. Soup of the day was a potato-garlic-leek and very smooth, rich in taste, but not strong enough to allow us to "find out who our friends are." The anti-pasto appetizer was a wonderful combination of rare salamis, cheeses and pickled roots - a delightful way to start the meal. We walked away full and did not have enough stomach room for desert. Wonderful service, to boot! Better get reservations as it is a popular spot because of its high quality and intimate atmosphere."

"Totally enjoyed Fresco Italian. Possibly the tastiest Italian food I have ever had. We were there during the winter so weren't able to enjoy the outdoor dining. Inside isn't overly spacious but still provides a wonderful ambiance. Service was very good even if they were extremely booked that evening. Make sure you have the address as our cab driver had difficulty finding it even with the address as you drive through a residential address to get there. In telling a co-worker of the evening, she said it was her favorite in Salt Lake and had been going there for over 30 years...guess that says it all."

"Everything on the menus is delicious! The grilled calamari was the best I ever had. While we're visiting SLC (for two nights), we dined at Fresco two nights in a row!! We'll be back again :)"

"Fresco's did a beautiful job last night, with exceptional service and perfect food. And, even though we had to wait a moment for our table to open up, the host was superb in making us not even realize we were waiting. Fresco is one of the great Salt Lake restaurants."

"As always, Fresco did not disappoint. The daily risotto was the best I've had. One of these times I will try something else on the menu. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. He had great recommendations on everything from the wine to dessert."
