"Simply, for two seafood-lovers, Grillfish is our "go-to" place to choose in the DC Area for a combination of very good food and service, wide selection, al fresco dining in season and moderate price. "Food was excellent - sat in a nice corner on Sunday afternoon, had a wonderful conversation (did not have to shout to hear or be heard) and really enjoyed the experience. Service was also very good - attentive but not intrusive. I would definitely recommend it to friends and plan to go back. Although parking on the street was OK on Sunday, I imagine other days would be a problem."

"Fish was cooked just right and the mixed grill for two is still a pretty good meal. Not quite as good a deal as previously since portions are smaller and now only one side included rather than 2. Also, small salad no longer included. Still has one of the best banana splits around, with the kaluha and chocolate sauce. Wish that they chilled the bowl, though, since the ice cream melts too quickly even with the chocolate sauced served on the side"

"Market fresh seafood perfectly prepared.Dinner with a good friend; only thing we found lacking was the beer selection. They should add a few choices to the list. The meal was outstanding. Fish and mushroom chowder was flavorful and the kitchen allowed the taste of the mushroom and fish to shine by using a light hand with the cream. I had the arctic char, along with vegetables and a coconut/red curry dipping sauce. I did not make much use of the sauce, as the fish was great without it. My friend had seafood fra diavolo, for which he felt the missing component was grated parmesan - which the waiter brought quickly and with a smile. Desserts are definitely worth indulging. Service deserves special mention: attentive without being smothering."

"My boyfriend and I came to Grillfish to celebrate our anniversary. We both love seafood restaurants (from raw to cooked), and Grillfish was the perfect choice. We shared the Mixed Grill for Two, and our fish was cooked to medium-raw perfection. The scallops were among the best I've ever had, and the dipping sauces were incredible--particularly the sweet onion. In fact, you could smell them preparing the sweet onion sauce from our seat across the restaurant from the kitchen, and it smelled fantastic . We paired this dinner with a nice shiraz (mojo rojo--pretty incredible) and finished it off with some dessert. Great spot for couples!"

"We had a delicious dinner at Grillfish. The food was amazing (I had rockfish and my husband had soft shell crab). We got the chocolate cake for dessert and it was incredible. Our waiter was really friendly, attentive, and did not rush us. We'll definitely be back."

"Unfortunately, our experience was not so good at this restaurant. We went there once before and had the Mixed Grill for two and it was very good. I felt bad for our waitress because she was trying to do her best, but the kitchen kept letting her down. We ordered a soft shell crab dish off the specials, which combined a crab cake, softshell crab, and garlic mashed potatoes. The crab cake and the softshell crab were over cooked and dry. Overall a disappointing dinner."

"I went there with a voucher for their oyster brunch. The oysters were great, and the DIY mimosas as well (though it wasn't really DIY - the server did it for us!) The service really was great. However, my poached eggs were WAY over-cooked, they were border-line hard boiled. The rest of my dish was good though and my friends all really liked their food. I'd go back, just not sure if I'd get the crabcake benedict again."

"Immediately seated upon arrival and offered cocktails. The restaurant has a very nice décor and attentive staff. Our waiter was very good about explaining the menu and when my daughter found her meal a little spicy he immediately went to the manager and had her meal changed. Our server was very attentive and even though we were in and out in no time he did not pressure us to turn the table. Wine is a bit overpriced - a glass and a half of Erath Pinot for $19.50? Erath is not worth that."

"This was the third trip to GrillFish. The food was excellent on the first two trips, but the third time was definitely not charm. The dishes were, in fact, disappointing. I made the mistake of ordering Buffalo shrimp over linguine (should have known better). The linguine was drowned in the Buffalo sauce -- way too much sauce -- and the shrimp were cooked to the point of being soft and squishy. My wife's dish was better, but the "greens' were tough and bitter, not appetizing at all. The entrees got a C-, but the salad, dessert, and wine were fine."

"I had a great mimosa brunch at Grillfish; the food and service were fantastic. But, where is everyone else. The scene is very quiet and a bit dead, probably due to the construction out front and the fact that the restaurant is downtown. It's not really in a walking brunch area. I really enjoyed the food though, especially the key lime pie for dessert. I was worried because my friend didn't even touch her eggs benedict, although she swore to both me and the waitress it was just because she wasn't that hungry. I'd had them in the past and enjoyed them too so don't really know what the issue was. Anyhow, give grillfish a try and maybe things'll pick up in the Springtime. Get the oysters too - very fresh!"
