"We had our daughters 21st birthday dinner here. The food was fantastic and although we sat inside the doors were open to the patio so it felt like we were outside--without the wind and traffic noise. Our waitress had only been there 2 days but she was so friendly and attentive. She made the experience great. A manager stopped by and asked how our meal was. All four of us felt that the food was outstanding. We live in Denver but plan on going back next time we are in KC."

"Seated right away, great ambience. Loved all the different salsas guacamole tasteless. Nice waitress. After not getting dinner for quite sometime she came twice to let us know our food was next. When we got our food it was all cold. Taste was fair. Loved the taste of margharitas but not much liquior in it."

"My friends and I were looking for a girls night out and Zocalo was perfect. They have great margaritas ranging from traditional to inventive I personally loved the blood orange frozen margarita. The service is great even on a Saturday night and we never had empty water glasses which I feel is an important part of service at a restaurant. This has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat out at!"

"Came for Mother's Day brunch - we were promptly seated at a great table on the back patio. We've sat on the front patio before which seems to be the most popular but the back patio is my new favorite - very serene with the same good people watching. Food was delicious, Horchata French Toast, Cinnamon Rolls and I also tried some of the Chilaquiles, an authentic Mexcian brunch item which I plan to have next time. Service was friendly and attentive - we'll definitely be back!"

"Started with the Angino? chicken nachos and a pitcher of margaritas. Delicious and refreshing; love that they use fresh jalapenos on the nachos and not pickled stadium peppers. I had the roasted poblanos with seafood and queso and wifey had the torilla soup and a salad. Her soup had a little more kick than she likes, but I tasted it and it was fine. Our lovely guest, R, had the lobster quesadilla with spring greens (which were billed as a salad). We felt her dish should have been served either with a dressing or salsa side as there was nothing in which to dip it. Waitress was attentive but not disturbing and wasn't even irritated that we took the table far longer than we should. Zoc is a hit. Love it."

"One of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a while. Put my name in at the hostess and was told two hours. Signed up for a party of six on OpenTable for 30 minutes from my arrival, which was still available on OpenTable. My wife was told "We will see." Our waitress in the bar was less than enthusiastic about being at work. Minimal interaction, minimal smiling, basically annoyed to be at work. Food was marginal, margaritas were watered-down, everything took forever. After we finished our food (3 hours later) they came and told us they had a table. What a joke. Its average food, mediocre drinks, bad service. At least it was expensive."

"My wife and I went there for St. Valentine's Day and very much enjoyed our visit. I am not much for Mexican food but this turned about to be a very good choice for me. It did have more of a fusion cuisine taste to it. Just different enough to satisfy me. I would definitely go back again. The waiter we had was also very knowledgeable and courteous."

"We regularly eat at this restaurant and normally like it but on Friday evening we were seated in a small and very cold area off the bar. The service was slow because there seemed to be only one server in the area. Additionally, the food was not as good as usual. We will go back but will communicate our concerns."

"Eaten there several times now! Not the traditional Kansas City Mexican restaurant.
While the salsa isn't free, you get to choose 3 of 5 different salsas - my wife prefers the mango (mild) and I like the smoked morita served warm (medium).
The enchiladas are great! The mole chrizo is becoming a new favorite - the savory flavors of the mole complements the salty chorizo very well! (The old stand by was the Chicken "Divorciada" - served with two sauces - a tangy tomatillo and a ranchero).
My wife's favorite is the scallops - seared with an orange chipotle glaze.
My only complaint is that the desserts are a bit lacking. Wish they had a little better offering here."
