An old storefront in Kingston's Historic Uptown District, a simple sliver of a space, has received a sumptuous update by its new tenant: Boitson's Restaurant. The menu is American, refined, yet comfortable from Trout Meuniere to Fried Chicken. The dining area is a carefully considered homage to both the upscale bistro and the "old man" bar. In good weather, the back deck, with views of the Catskills, is another of Boitson's many secrets awaiting to be discovered.
"Uptown Kingston hot spot for great food--taste sensations for everyone from their thick quinoa burger to breast of duck, oysters to filets. Sophisticated comfort food."

"Boitson's has opened its deck for summer dining and it is a lovely place to have a drink, a beer, some oysters or a complete meal. And the noise level outside is much more conversation friendly than when the inside dining room is packed, as it often is."

"Cool vibe here, mellow patio ambience, blues music playing. Fried chicken which we loved here on a previous visit overly browned and salted. Great service until the waiter got too busy to get us our dessert on time so we could get to the theater. I would return to the restaurant but with less enthusiasm than after our first dinner there."

"They didn't honor the reservation - an 8:30 reservation had us seated after 9 (though the hostess tried to push us to taking seats at the crowded bar). Slow first course as well, no salad until 9:30. Yikes! Too bad really, because the food was good and the service at the table just fine. But a crusty hostess who doesn't keep reservations will keep us away next time. There are plenty of offerings, especially near the water (Rondout), which was a much cooler place to wander around!"

"Love this restaurant. We ate there twice in one week. We particularly liked the Salmon, fried chicken (just right) and lobster. Good wine list too. Great service, smiling and efficient."

"Everyone in Kingston is beyond proud of this great place! Cool scene in a really fabulous part of town with food that makes locals proud! Maria (the owner) does such a great job with all details of this hot swinging Uptown spot! It's a cool place for the best LOCAL scene and food we are all so very proud of!"

"Servers know their oysters! (Which change according to market) Can't choose between house Pinot Noirs by the glass, you can taste them. Food choices are labeled for veg, vegan and/or gluten free or not. My steak lovers have not been disappointed. All eat well! The regular menu is bistro standard, comforting and priced right... The specials are seasonal creations. Boiston's has become one of my favs..."

"The food was amazing, and our server was incredibly knowledgable and friendly. Have been twice now, and had weekly specials both times. Vibrant flavors, generous portions and gorgeous presentations."

"Definitely has the charm of a small trendy place in the city, transplanted for us in the Hudson Valley. Never anything but the BEST in cuisine and service. Vegan dishes get the same creative attention as every delicious entree. Something for everyone! A consistent favorite for us!"

"My husband and I have been thinking about trying Boitson's for awhile. I regret that we waited so long. The food is positively amazing-- fresh, interesting classics with a twist. Wonderful drinks, inventive apps, and lovely mains. They could do a bit better with the dessert offerings, but that certainly wasn't a deal breaker."

"My experience at Boitson's was very nice. Although the space is tight and dark, it adds to the cozy feeling of the restaurant. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. After recommendations from several friends my date and I decided to try the fried chicken with a side of mac and cheese. I was a little disappointed that the fried chicken was burned (I'm use to golden brown chicken, this chicken was dark brown and black in some spots and because of the lighting I didn't realize how burned it was until I brought my leftovers home) however miraculously the meat was very moist. The mashed potatoes w/gravy and the seasonal veggies were delicious and the mac and cheese was out of this world. Will definitely go there again."

"Crispy Chicken Liver Sliders-VERY dry...Raw Oysters were good (overpriced),Devils on Horse Back-delicious...Orchiette Pasta had NO FLAVOR...Crispy Lobster Tail was also good! But my favorite had to be the Fried Oysters!!! Overall, VERY EXPENSIVE...$292.00 WITHOUT TIP...4 guests (Not sure if I'll return?)"

"I love this place! Amazing food every time, delicious cocktails. We can never resist the Devils on Horseback. Their specials always capture the season and are phenomenal. I have gone there for everything from mothers day lunch for mom, after work drinks and appetizers with friends to romantic dinner with the fiance."

"Warm greetings as we walked through the door. We sat at the bar and started with gorgeous cocktails paired with delicious raw oysters and clams. Then appetizers of ribs that fell off the bone with a superb sauce and a pork belly and clam appetizer that was divine. Crème brulee' and a locally made bourbon to finish it off. The service was excellent."

"Food is the reason to go to Boitson's. Fantastic menu, everything tempting, but the food isn't overblown, pretentious, or fussy. Everything was perfectly prepared. The winter salad portion is huge - delicious dressing and great combination of greens, blood orange sections, dried cranberries, and toasted pumpkin seeds. Hubby had the wedge salad and mushroom pot pie: both plates were cleaned down to every morsel and crumb. After the winter salad I had the red snapper: perfectly prepared but the brussels sprouts on the side? I could have eaten a plateful. Just scrumptious. Homemade lime cheesecake for dessert was light, crust was just right, lime flavor was not overpowering but present.
No tap selections; only bottled beer. Great options."
