"My husband and I have had some of our best meals at Leopolds, and last night did not disappoint. There Mussels and frites are the best in the city. They also have great cocktails and a fantastic beer menu for beer geeks like me. This is by far my favorite restaurant in Chicago."

"We are planning a visit to Belgium so we thought we'd enjoy the Belgian-inspired menu and beers offered (Leopold beautifully combines great local foods with Belgian inspiration). I posted a recommendation to Chicago friends as well. We had the Chef's Week menu and enjoyed everything. The mussels were great and the rabbit salad was notable. Leopold is located in an area of the City that has a lot of great spots: sophisticated with that "neighborhood gem" casual, relaxing atmosphere we like. Will definitely return to Leopold!"

"Very good. We are visiting from out of town and came here for a Friday night. Was very rainy, taxis hard to get, and they were quite accomodating to our lateness, and the service was great throughout the meal. I have been to other Belgian restaurants in the Washington DC area and thought they were a tad better, but my dining companion actually thought Leopold's was better. The bread was to die for, the squash salad delicious, the charcuterie generous and very tasty. I had Flat Iron, was very good though slightly too rare for my personal taste. The frites were very good but got a little soggy being served in the mug instead of a more open container."

"Belgium restaurant is rare to find in Chicago. They do a good job both in terms of ambience and food. Veal Sweetbreads had authentic taste with a modern twist. Scallops were cooked just right creating a nice harmony with the rest of ingredients. The server was attentive and honest giving good advice so that we can choose dishes that would suit to our taste and appetite. Price is a bit on a high-side considering casual menu they have. But, overall, it was a good experience. I would go back."

"Enjoyed our visit. Boutique vodka from Napa was good. Salad was fresh. Sweetbreads were smoky and delicious. Duck breast with wild mushrooms tender and tasty. Mussels with spicy sauce were yum, came with a heapin’ helpin’ of fries, too much to finish! The Winterkoninck ale was worth savoring & recommending. Good-sized scoops of eggnog and the malted vanilla gelato were a nice cap to the adventure. A European atmosphere in a way, especially with the music early on. Like many places these days, seems like they lie about being busy certain days and times, even to open table; they were pretty empty until after 8 (which kept it nice and quiet for normal conversation).service was a little weird and bossy, their schtick, I guess."

"The food was great but the first thing we noticed when we walked in was smokey haze and it was a pretty strong smell too. The kitchen needs some serious ventilation or something. It wasn't pleasant. Our server was nice but was pushy when we didn't order as much food as she recommended we should. We had plenty of food and if we had followed her suggestion we would have had way more than we needed. I don't like feeling bullied or like they are trying to just boost up the check."

"We dined at Leopold the other night and really enjoyed it. I had the smoked salmon belly salad, rabbit/lentil stew, and the belgian waffle dessert. My husband had the warm winter squash salad and chocolate pave (dessert), which I tried. We also split the frites and brussels sprouts. I thought all of my food was very good. The warm squash salad was amazing, as was the chocolate pave (better than the waffle). Frites and brussels sprouts were truly delicious. Spectacular beer menu with some real gems on tap. I would come back again!"

"Great service and good food. While it bills itself as a "small plates" place, we found the portion to be of a nice size for one, unlike some small plate where there are just a few nibbles on plate. If you have the mussels, the grilled bread is a must! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful without being overbearing or "put on"."

"I love the atmosphere at Leopald. Our waitress was great. The beers are great. The food was good but not great. I was told they have a new chef. The last time I was here was in Oct. 2011 and thought the food was better. I feel that the value is a bit lacking now. I'd suggest just going for a drink at the bar and having a quick bite vs. spending $$$ on dinner."

"Overall experience was alright. The sausage in the charcuterie choices was particularly good, as were the moules and white fish. Cheese servings were laughable--they were very tiny for 6 dollars.Veal sweetbreads needed some moisture it was fried and buried under a pile of greens. There was also too long of a wait in between courses."
