"This was our 4th time at Max's and it was worth the long drive to get there. (Long drive for us -- the Gaylord St neighborhood is very accessible if you are in Denver.). The seafood is off-the-boat fresh and wonderfully prepared. We got a great deal on a wonderful bottle of wine and again enjoyed being waited on by Chris. They have terrific specials that are real deals, although we have yet to be tempted away from the main menu. Desserts are beyond tempting. Can't wait for visit #5."

"Had a reservation, was seated in the very back next to bar which was very noisy. When no server appeared for over 15 minutes, went up to hostess to request new table and some attention. We were moved but were not reseated for over 30 minutes past our reservation time. We did have a great waitress at that point."

"Another great dinner. All you can eat ribs were pretty good. One rack was much more tender than the other. Clam chowder was good, not excellent. Pan seared scallops earned high praise from my wife. I'm looking forward to summer when we can dine al fresco, as the bar area was just a bit too loud. Still a great experience."

"We came here during Denver Restaurant Week and had the 5280 menu. The food was quite good, and the service was also good, although a little slow because of the crowd. We had to wait for half an hour after our reservation time due to overbooking, and it was quite crowded in the entrance area because of this. However, once we sat down and had the food/drink it was worth the wait. I would come back."

"We have been to Max's many times. The last time was about six months ago. The portions in the past were decent. Unfortunately I think they now going for trendy which as far as we are concerned take them out of the "gem" category. One of the main reasons we go is for their selection of oysters. We ordered a half dozen and an appetizer. The appetizer arrived but not the oysters. When I inquiried our server said they must be backed up. Anyway our meals arrived and still no oysters. I told the server to cancel the oysters. Again she apologized saying they were backed up. Only half the tables were full. Here is the reason we will never go back. Instead of accepting the responsibility of screwing up she chose to blame someone else"

"Our group of six adults and six kids met for 5280 night. The choice of appetizer, main course and dessert were good. They tasted great! The environment was very energetic. Our server, Tim, was fantastic, helpful and very patient. We had a great time. Thanks!"

"Very busy on a Valentine's night, but bartender graciously uncorked wine at the bar, since we had to wait for a table and don't drink cocktails. The food was all very fresh and delightfully cooked--best Caesar salad in town! It's always a bit iffy trying a new seafood restaurant in this land locked town! Service a bit slow, but the place was "packed to the gills". Will definitely return."

"The service was awesome, and some of the food was outstanding, but I thought the sole didn't have as much 'flavor' as I expected. The sauce sort of overpowered the sole and the crab. But the broccolini, or whatever it was, had incredible flavor."

"Food was delicious and different. Although we had reservations we still had to wait 20 - 30 minutes for a table. We did the 5280 special with another couple and were informed as we were placing our orders that we had to share dessert - one per couple! The dessert was delicious, but I thought that was really tacky!"

"We took part in their 5280 menu and were not disappointed. Everything we had was very good, from the appetizer all the way to the dessert. The service was very good and very friendly.
We were placed at the table right at the door, which made keeping the food warm somewhat difficult (not to mention chilly to us). Other than that, it was a great evening, and I would absolutely recommend it."

"Terrific experience at Max! Julie the server was fantastic, the lobster bisque, tenderloin, and the sole were all truly delicious! One not so good was the calamari appetizer - all bread. The cauliflower -white bean sauce certainly made up for it though - a table favorite (Julie recommended it).
The place was packed, but our order was taken quickly, our glasses were never empty, and the food came out timely and perfect. Definitely will come back!"
