"Brought my wife to joan's in the Park for Mother's Day dinner with our 9 month son and they were so accommodating (we also have a perfect baby so that helps.). The food is spectacular and Chef Susan is incredibly talented. The lamb meatballs, the bay scallops, the filet mignon...all fantastic! The service is always attentive as Joanne leads a focus on the guest. This restaurant is a gem!"

"We have just recently moved to the east side of town from NE Minneapolis, and have been somewhat disappointed in the lack of choice when it comes to small, quaint bistros. Joan's in the Park has changed our mind. The food was excellent, highly recommend the plum starter if you enjoy a little heat. Nice and reasonably priced wine list without being overwhelming. The staff was extremely friendly and did an awesome job of timing our courses. Noise level is a little energetic, but overall a wonderful experience!"

"It was our first time at Joan's in the Park, but will definitely not be our last. Excellent service! Not only was our waiter very attentive, but others in the restaurant checked in with us as well to be sure we had everything we needed. I had the scallops, which were wonderful, and my husband had a very good filet mignon. Even though we were plenty full, we needed to share a burnt brown pudding because of the previous reviews I had read. It was excellent!"

"This was our first time to Joan's and we were delighted. We went to celebrate an early mother's day. We shared the cheese plate and the crab cake for our appetizers. Three of us had steak and one of us had the scallops. All three entrees were delicious. The scallops were seared to perfection and the cauliflower puree was wonderful. We finished with the hot chocolate cake and brown butter pudding. The brown butter pudding is better than any creme brûlée I've ever tasted!

"I've been to Joan's twice meeting girl friends to catch up and have to say it is the perfect location! Both times we had amazing food and wonderful service. The atmosphere manages to pull off the blend of a comfortable neighborhood restaurant with elegant dining. The place was buzzing at all tables and mood was very lively. "We reserved for a Tuesday evening, 8:15, at a quiet table. When we arrived there were two noisy groups, certainly not offensive but far noisier than my husband could handle. The waiter knew of our request and when the larger party arrived, he suggested we move to a different table. It was perfect and made our dining experience excellent. The food was delicious - pan-seared salmon and an amazing butter pudding for dessert. We were very happy diners."

"1st time to Joan's and LOVE! The food was VERY good and the service was over the top! Not just from our waiter, but also from the Sisters. My filet mignon was one of the best I've had, loved the nice ''crust'' on the outside. And our seafood apps were excellant considering we live in MN and it's not local. And I can't forget to mention the dessert!. The molten chocolate cake is worth the 7 minute wait and the strawberry/rhubarb shortcake was perfect for the season! I look forward to coming back when the patio is open. My only complaint was the noise level, but we were there at peak service. After being open for only 1 1/2 years, it looks like they may be out growing their space already! Great Job Joan's!"

"One word--Fabulous! From start to finish, Joan's was a delight. High energy spot. Our waiter was welcoming and attentive. The food was wonderful. Started with salads ( Caesar and butter lettuce)--both good. Couple people had the duck special which they raved about, the salmon was delicious and the scallops some of the best I have had. Onion bread was a great " differentiator" and the salted caramel mousse-like dessert was a perfect ending to a super meal. Highly recommend."

"We loved our first visit to Joan's. The food was excellent as well as the service. Our only negative was the noise level. The restaurant was only about half full and it was still noisy. "Very impressed. Rib-eye was worthy of Manny's or Morton's but was only 2/3 the cost. Medium size wine list but very carefully put together. We enjoyed an 06 cab priced at 53 dollars that I have seen for $60 at other high end restaurants. Owner and chef walk around enjoying a rapport with regulars. It is just a fantastic place, and we will return several times a year. Very good for anniversary dinners, special occasions. Highly recommended."

"We had a wonderful dinner at Joan's in the park. My wife had the market fish dish and it was one the best fish dish ever for her. She always orders fish dish when we go out and she is hard to please; however, the fish dish at Joan's in the park was quite delicious and my wife finished every thing. I have a steak that was broiled in the pizza oven and it was perfectly marinated and cooked. The restaurant is cozy and it was fairly loud at dinner time (but then the restaurant can't control the customers from being loud). We dressed casual when going there with jeans and polo shirts; however, there were people dressing up. We would come back again probably on a weeknight to try out some other dishes."

"I'm glad I chose 'joans' for my birthday celebration! Outstanding onion bread with fresh butter; the BEST rib-eye steak in the Twin Cities (the chef knew the meaning of medium well.. just a tinge of pink & not dry). The brown butter pudding reminded me of my Grandma's. Warm and wonderful service, they even brought me a celebratory cupcake with a candle. We'll be back from Minneapolis to enjoy more menu items from this family owned & staffed neighborhood gem !!!"

"Wow, what a find! Menu was perfectly sized with just the right amount of variety. Appetizers were great - try the steak tar tare, lamb meatballs or crab cakes. Caesar salad was simple but executed perfectly. There was a perfect acidic brightness to each dish. We had the Filet, Grouper and Hanger Steak - all three were perfect. Sides were unique and delicious - horseradish fingerling potatoes, sauteed (almost caramelized) radishes and sauteed cauliflower. Desserts were amazing - the brown butter pudding edges out the budino at 112 Eatery, yes I said it! Great accomplishment for such a small and somewhat unknown place to be able to compete against all the great restaurants in the twin cities. This place just cracked my top ten list."

"You feel you are in a for an awesome experience when the owners are greeting you at the door like you are friends. A very simple menu but well thought out with something for everyone. I started with a butter lettuce salad with a lavender honey dressing that was fantastic. I followed up with the filet that was prepared to perfection. The scallops were crusted on the outside and tender on the inside. The wine and beer selection has a selection that will please anyone. The portions were just right but we did pass on desert only because we were full. You must add Joan's in the Park to your must try list."

"Just terrific - I can't say enough to commend Joan's in the Park for a wonderful evening. The service was just wonderful - son of one of the owners. He was great in advising us what to order, what we might like, etc. We were there for my wife's birthday, and they took a very nice picture of her with the rest of our group, put it in a cardboard frame and gave it to her as a keepsake. All the food was excellent. The only "glitch" was that it got a bit noisy - a couple of loud tables. Perhaps someday they can install something to dampen the sound. But, really, that's a minor criticism in light of the wonderful evening we had. Our new favorite place."

"Was disappointed in the food, but I did a poor job of ordering. Was trying for heart healthy. Crab cake had too much filler and not enough crab. Salad turned out to be a version of potato salad, but couldn't really tell that from the description on menu.
On the other hand, server was great and others at table were satisfied. Wish I'd ordered the duck breast or fish.
Would go back and be more discriminating ."

"Excellent as usual - fine food, experienced and helpful waiter. Personal attention to detail by owner is impressive. I always have a great meal - Thursday's was again exceptional - my guests and I had the ribeye steaks and salads. Each couple split the steak and ordered ind. salads. Steaks were done to order - beautifully medium - rare. Salads were fresh, bread hot and tasty - this is a great place!"

"This was a first visit for the three of us....each of us ordered something different, and each of us enjoyed everything we ordered. The wines and beer were fine, the salads were unusual and excellent, and the entrees (salmon and 2 different steaks)were outstanding. We ordered one dessert to share, and all of it was consumed! "The perfection of steak... Ever course is carefully thought out and restrained in its simplicity and balance of ingredients. It really is an extraordinary find - don't let the close and small settings fool you - this is a restaurant for those who love food. It's is comparatively well-priced for such excellence too- it serves astounding gourmet food at astonishingly reasonable prices. This is a true neighborhood (and city) gem. I've never eaten anywhere quite like it."

"There were 4 of us celebrating a birthday. They make birthdays very special...confetti on the table, a picture of your group to take a way and a really yummy desert to share.
We all enjoyed our meals...a little expensive, but it was a special night out.
