"My boyfriend and I shared a wonderful first time at Yoshi's. Our first experience at this restaurant was excellent. We both shared a nice bottle of rosé, and soft shell crab. My boyfriend enjoyed two sushi selections highly recommended by our waiter. We checked in on Yelp and received a free appetizer. Score! What we enjoyed most is that we were able to bring our bottle of wine with us and still enjoy the comedy show. This turned out to be a memorable night, we definitely will be back. Thank you Yoshi's of Oakland!"

"We usually have a great experience at Yoshi's in Oakland, Thursday night was different. Waiter spilled a full glass of Sangria on my fiance's leather jacket. Luckily it's a dark color, but unfortunate that we have to pay a dry cleaning bill to have it cleaned. We understand that accidents do happen, I just think the situation could have been handled better. Food overall was good. We ordered the soft shell crab; I felt is order was too small for the amount we paid. The Brussels sprouts were really good. The pork chop was cooked perfect!"

"I arrived and checked in as requested and the staff was polite, profession and inviting. Positive energy with a welcoming vibe. Front desk ensured I had purchased the correct tickets for proper dine seating and advised that he would make sure we get the best house seats that night. Without hesitation, we were seated as starte our great experience. Waitress was great, food menu had great options along with drink menu. Our food came out at a great time both our wait from the time we got in the door to our concert seats was under an hour. I recommend this place for anyone wanting a great night out on the town who wants good quality food and celiberty entertainement."

"We went to Yoshi's to enjoy a nice dinner and a jazz show. With dinner we got great seats in the club (although it was a little tight in there). The dinner was wonderful and actually was surprised when I got the check how cheap it was!
Our server was also prompt and very nice.

"Being that this was my first time at Yoshi's in Oakland I can honestly say I was impressed. I really enjoyed our meal. I did bring in my own wine but after our bottle was finished our helpful waiter suggested a wine that was similar to ours and it was great. He provided us with great service. I would definitely come back and refer this place to everyone.

"I like this place and have been an occasional regular for the last several years. I go for the shows and recently saw Arturo Sandoval who was excellent. Since I also like Sushi I enjoy the food as well. With an open and spacious seating arrangement and large windows to the street it’s a nice place for singles and families. With dinner reservations comes reserved seating for the shows and no standing outside in line... :) I would and have recommended to a friend."

"The food was very good and when you combine that with great music in a venue second to none, the evening, as always, was perfect. Parking is right next door and as you enter for your dinner reservation, you're asked if you will be attending the show. The waiter shows you to your table and then says that they will reserve your table for the show.

"Food was okay, nothing special. Overpriced, especially the meat options. The host should have asked for a preference in seating, because my party had to remove their shoes, which I wasn't prepared for, MY FEET WERE COLD! The entertainment was great, but I would have preferred to donate some money rather than $20, especially since the service inside the venue was HORRIBLE! Those servers need a serious attitude adjustment, because they could be making serious money in tips, but instead I had to chase down a server just to get a glass of water."

"Very good preparation of traditional Japanese food, sashimi and sushi rolls. In addition an offering of entrée dishes not found in Japan. My wife ordered the lamb chops and they were excellent. Teriyaki chicken, salmon looked great. The ribeye was tempting but pricey, $29. Ala carte, soups and salads extra. We had a bottle of wine and split the check for four-with 20% tip it was $300 total. I made reservations here for the purpose of securing a good seat for the music in the venue. We got seated in a nice comfy booth for an overall great evening. Birthday or anniversary celebration ideal."

"One of the best eel-avocado rolls I've had in a while. Special rolls are good too, e.g. the Spicy Dragon, in which they cut off the shrimp tails so you don't have to try to do it with chopsticks! Panko crusted brussels sprouts were really an excellent way to start the meal. Hope you like spicy sauces!"

"This was my first time at Yoshi's, and my son and I were looking forward to seeing The Bad Plus perform. The entire experience was amazing! Our meals were freshly prepared and arrived quickly, and the service was exceptional. When I couldn't decide which red wine I'd order, my server offered me a taste of both, and it was such a big help! The appetizers and entrees were so delicious, and the sauces and reductions were outstanding.
My son is a railroad fan, and we had front row seats to view the Amtrak trains during our meal, as the tracks ran right next to Yoshi's. If you show your server your tickets, they'll reserve seats for you ahead of time while you dine. Unbelievably, they were front row seats for the jazz concert! Sensational night."

"It was my partner's 71st birthday and i was making it a "surprise" evening w/ dinner and tickets for the 8:00pm show. Every single person from the box office rep to our wonderful waitress, Isabella, was beyond helpful and thoughtful!!
I had brought a little carrot cake w/ candles earlier in the day when I picked up our show tickets and he/box office employee took the cake and the candles and just at the perfect time, later that evening it appeared at our table w/ candles lit!!!
I just can't say enough about the food, the setting, the warmth, etc.

"Our experience having in dinner in Yoshi's was very good. The only that I can maybe complaint or critize, is the price. It's very expensive. Is the most expensive dinner that we ever had in the USA. $100 dinner and $130 ticked for Chick Corea it's a high amount. Even though, we've enjoy dinner and show, but are not becoming to be frecuent guests.

"My idea of dining at Yoshi's when attending a performance at the cabaret is that you get there early and the staff will then reserve good seats for you for the show. This is the second time I have done this and have been disappointed with the seats reserved each time (back row). As a dining venue Yoshi's is OK, if a bit pricey. So if the main reason you are dining there is to get good seats for the show, forget it. There are lots of other restaurants at Jack London Square to consider."

"Yoshi's Oakland is a suburb music venue - one of the best on the West Coast for certain. The restaurant is well above average with a good range of sushi and sashimi choices. We had a very helpful server who made some good suggestions and ensured our sake was cold as we requested. Chick Corea was sublime."

"I took my nephew to the Marty Stuart show. We had dinner because the web site said we would get better seats at the show. Oh boy, did we! Second row of tables from the stage. As for dinner, the sashimi and sushi were good. We had an excellent waitress. She showed us show to get our will call tickets ad gave other good advice.
I will come back again, for dinner as well as the show. You have a great restaurant and show venue."

"I don't know if I like the music or the Sushi more at Yoshi's. I've been her a number of times and the best times are sitting at the Sushi bar visiting with the chief before going into the lounge for marvelous music. This is one of my favorite spots in Oakland, because I love live music and Yoshi's has the best!"

"We only dine here in order to get good seats for a show. Otherwise, I wouldn't pay such high prices for mediocre sushi. Much better places for sushi throughout the East Bay (from Oakland to Brentwood) & in SF for much better prices. Sushi is already a pricey dining option, but Yoshi's just takes the value for the food category to a new low. :("
