Rosa Mexicano- Minneapolis
In 1984, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened in New York City. Playing a leading role in defining what was then a "new" cuisine to American diners, Rosa Mexicano delivers authentic Mexican cooking in an accessible, stylishly festive atmosphere. Rosa Mexicano's menu features a range of award-winning signature dishes, including our Guacamole en Molcajete, in a traditional lava rock mortar. Described by Time Out New York as "green ecstasy in a stone bowl," it is prepared table side and served with house made chips, warm corn tortillas and condiment salsas. Rosa Mexicano is also known for the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, as well as the modern and festive ambiance.

"We were a family of four and the food was okay. It was not awful but it was not delicious food. The guacamole appetizer was delicious but our dinners were only fair. It was fun to try but will not return."

"Rosa gets my vote for best Mexican restaurant in the TC. The food is always well prepared, creative and delicious. The service takes it over the top. I had the good fortune of being taken care of Josh. Josh is very knowledgeable, friendly, energetic and hard working. Rosa truly proves that you get what you pay for."

"to know... My first time there was in 2000 in Manhattan on their only location.... now they have become a chain... I have tried the ones in LA, NJ and now Minneapolis.... but the Guacamole is not as it used to be... the margaritas are just a pink slush and the service is not good.... a real shame..."

"Went with my wife for Cinco de Mayo. Great guacamole, good food. A little overpriced for our taste. Guac, two entrees, and drink each later, the bill was almost $85.
It was good, but not $85 good. I wouldn't shy away from Rosa, but don't be surprised when you bill comes."

"This was a year end work outing lunch for 10 people. Service was good, the overall ambience was quite nice, especially given the time of season (winter) the decor & natural light made it feel much warmer then the outside air temp., and the food was good overall (the guac was excellent), except for the fish tacos that I orderred; the fish seemed to have come straigh out of a Gordon's Fisherman box - but everyone else seemed to thoroughly enjoy their dishes. So don't order the fish tacos and you should enjoy your meal."

For those of you who typical revel in tons of cheese all over your mexican food, you will be disappointed, since these dishes were prepared as they should be! Always consistently very good.
I highly recommend visiting if you enjoy delicious Mexican food in a great atmosphere served by a very efficient wait staff.

"I liked the service and attitude of the hosts and wait staff that we received and the guacoamole was very good and made fresh in front of you in the desired hot level. There wasn't anything special about the ambiance, view, or seating.
Our party tried the Pecado, Pato Confitado, and Panza con Callos de Hacha with a side of Red Bean Chorizo Chili.
I had the pork belly and scallops and the scallops were excellent, but the pork belly was not slow cooked properly and was tough. The meal was too cool (temperature wise) for my tastes as well. Although the servings were small, between all that we had we came out filling full. Either the price needs to come down or they need to step it up a notch with the quality."

"The only criticism I have is that when the server packed up our leftovers in to go boxes, he did not include the leftover sauce that was on the plate. When we got home and wanted to eat our leftovers, we discovered that all I had in my box were the short ribs. No sauce. So unfortunately I only got to eat one short rib with the delicious sauce. Personally I feel like the sauce is typically the best part of the dish. Teach your servers to scrape the plates."

"Had a birthday dinner there with my husband and 17 year old twins. They LOVED it!!! My daughter doesn't usually like guacamole, but she tried it freshly made and really liked it. "Good experience. I had the hanger steak...very good. My wife had the pork which she proclaimed to be excellent. I can back that up because I had it for leftovers the next day. The Guacamole is superb...do not go to this restaurant without ordering it. Drinks were expensive and a disappointment. Service was fast but not very attentive. Our wait person asked me 4 times if I wanted a second drink but failed to keep the water glasses filled. Overall...not the best Mexican restaurant we've been to but very good. Undoubtedly, the most expensive Mexican restaurant. $110 for 2 people with tip and one drink each. Close to Target Center and Target Field."

"My teenage daughters and I were going to Flashdance and wanted a nice dinner before the show. Rosa Mexicano did not disappoint in food quality or service. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. My daughters had not been to the restuarant before so the waiter took extra time to go through the food items as well as the dessert menu. The girls loved the decor as well as the continuous full glass of water. The restruant is expensive but, for a special treat, it was well worth it."

"Had a great time at Rose Mexicano. The table-side guacamole is a must-super fresh and delicious! Margaritas were fabulous, with a Tequila menu for your "shot" pleasure. Our server, Megan, was great and had a good knowledge of the Tequilas they offer.
Food was good, although I thought my pork shank came with the spinach/mushroom side and I missed that on my plate! Refried beans were amazing! Chef popped out of the kitchen to chat with us about our meal. He had a great personality and was genuinely excited to talk to us about the food and brought out some tortillas to enjoy those refried beans! Great suggestion!
Overall a great beginning to a fun night. Put us in a good mood for the Mavericks at the Pantages! Coming back..."

"I had high hopes for Rosa Mexicano, unfortunately, my high hopes fell flat. We had reservations for 4 people, for 8:15, and we did not get seated until 8:30, and we were seated at a table that was in some sort of banquet room on the very edge of the room so we were all by ourselves. The server came by and she did not seem like she wanted to help us at all. The dishes we ordered although good on their own, we wanted to share a few dishes and we could not. The ceviche wasn't worth the $16 price tag with three small samples, and the $26 double guac was not worth it all, it had two avocados in it and cost $26??? Really? The server came up-selling items on the menu which didn't sell us. The bright menu item was the chicken tortilla pie. Delish!"

"Our server was excellent! Our family of four came to celebrate my 50th birthday (two teenagers). The ceviche tacos appetizer was scheduled to come with 3 and he immediately told us he would bring four. The table side guacamole was perfect. My youngest son entertained the idea of mole enchiladas; our server described mole and then offered to have us try each of the sauces prior to ordering. GREAT SERVICE!!"

"This eclectic and upscale Mexican restaurant had many special offerings, from the table-side fresh guacamole preparation with various hot sauces, and wide offering of tequila-based drinks to entrees ranging from mole smothered beef enchiladas to skillet-steak tacos and an over-the-top (huge!) yet tender pork chamorro.
The ambiance was conducive to conversation even as the bar was lively on the Saturday night we dined there.
The service was prompt and attentive though my guests and I felt sorry for the waitress attempting to address the needs of probably 10 to 12 tables."

"Rosa Mexicano is a must visit restaurant when in the twin cities area. The atmosphere is great, and the waitstaff is phenomenal. I visit whenever I am in the area. "This was our first time at Rosa Mexicano and we were very impressed. The margaritas were excellent (and strong) and the specialty pomegranate margarita was a hit. The guacamole (prepared tableside) was outstanding. Some of our party had "traditional" fare, i.e., enchiladas, and the chef transformed them into something special. The red sauce on the cheese enchilada was of particular. One of our party had the pork shank and loved it. All in all, a terrific experience. We will definitely be back."

"We went to Rosa Mexicano for a group lunch to celebrate completing a big project. We had 7 people in our group. The service was VERY slow. We got to the restaurant about 10 to noon and it was not very crowded. We got our drinks fairly quickly but it was a good 20 minutes before our order was taken. Half an hour later we still hadn't gotten our food. One of the people in our group ultimately had to ask to get her lunch made to-go as she had to get back to the office. They brought her lunch and she left before the rest of us got our food. The best part about the lunch was the freshly made guacamole, prepared tableside with fresh tortilla chips. I could have skipped the entree and just eaten that for lunch."
