"I liked the food. It has a variety of items that are great to share and that even the kids will enjoy. It was the 4th time visiting the restaurant but the first for lunch. I enjoy the evening live music. My only negative is that the waiter/waitress could check by more often to ensure customers are not out of drinks/water,"

"The only complaint I have is with the noise inside. My husband and I sat at a square table, he to my left. We nearly had to yell the entire meal. I don't recall if there was music playing, and I don't have any recommendations on how to make it more quiet."

"despite the single loudest high-chair denizen I have ever heard, it was a great and reasonably priced tapas spot. Sangria was a wonderful spring day treat. I think the steak and potatoes was overcooked but the remaining plates we received were generally well- prepared. The meatballs (served first) were not warm but the sauce was worth dipping some bread into. We'd go back for lunch."

"This was out second time at La Tasca in Old Town. It was wonderful again but after the band got going we had to yell to hear each other and we were the farthest from the band you could get. We all had the taste of Spain. It was another amazing and yummy experience. I wish the band was quieter. We might think twice about coming back again because of that. But overall we enjoyed out first hour of dinner, extremely!!"

"The window seats have a nice view of the street but suffer from being sticky (a table cloth would work wonders)
Our waiter recommended a nice full bodied Spanish wine.
The food was very good, we had many tapa plates and all were delicious. Shrimp and avocado salad, lamb chops, grilled vegetables, chicken w/potatoes, empanadas, tasty cheese plate that went well with the wine, can't recall the rest.
The waiter got busy toward the end of our meal, so the service suffered a bit, but the tres leche cake was very good."

"Was excited to go here for a girls night out...I had some friends in town and wanted a fun place to take them. Things were going great until my friend was served FROZEN empanadas TWICE! The first time she cut into it and ate a piece, she noticed it was still frozen in the middle. She informed the waitress and sent it back, only to be served another order of frozen empanadas. The waitress did apologize and our bill was adjusted, but never did a manager come and speak to us. You think they would have checked before sending it out the second time to make sure it was cooked inside. And it was chicken too! Don't think I will be returning there."

"We enjoyed SO MUCH trying and sharing bites of the different tapas from the Special Lunch Menu. The servers brought them out a few at a time. We each opted for the three for 19.99 and our daughter chose only vegan/vegetarian dishes which were readily available. We had a nice Rioja wine. It was wonderful! We especially liked the tomato and white bean salad, spinach salad, and eggplant rolls. The empanadas were terrific (the sauce served with them perfect). We will be back!"

"Food presentation was wonderful. Everything was delicious. Waiter was slow to greet but was very accomodating and diligent throughout the evening. Environment was very cozy and relaxing with the exception of the food tray srands they stored right next to our table and used every time food was brought out of kitchen. Also waitress sat a family with two young children right next to our dinner for two. Tables were uncomfortably close together and dining area was not close to being full. The mood of the evening shifted immediately."

"Our last experience was pretty good, except for our table order of "Arroz a banda" paella. We waited 35 minutes for the dish, which was acceptable, but when it came to our table, we noticed that the paella, which should have shrimp and scallops, instead had shrimp and squid. When we asked our server what happened, he took the dish back to the kitchen to ask the chef. The server returned and explained that the scallops were in the paella, but they were so finely chopped that they were impossible to recognize in the dish. He offered no explanation why squid was in the dish. We thought such an excuse was unacceptable and ridiculous. The server took the dish off our check and offered us a round drinks on the house as an apology."

"On Easter Sunday I imagine americans more or less dine on american cuisine and is more so an at home with family day.
However Las Tasca decor is calm, the atmosphere was quiet and the service was very good. The all you can eat for a fixed price
was good for myself and daughter. The food was in portions, fixed when ordered so it was fresh, the time in between orders wasn't long
and the pitcher of house Sangria loosened one up.

"We booked at LaTasca after finding out that Chef Josu Zubikarai returned to the US from Spain. He is a phenomenal chef! We had delicious tapas from the "tasting menu" and sangria and split a dessert of almond cake with clementine sorbet. We booked early and were seated promptly. The service was stellar. "The Sangria was amazing. We tried three different pitchers and by far loved the traditional red Sangria with Red Bull. We had the large $65 sampler and cheese board with two cheeses and one meat. Everything was wonderful, in fact, we couldn't stop talking about it. We made reservations at 8pm and arrived early and were sat about ten minutes early. We were two couples, one local and one from out of town. My husband and I are the locals and are trying to decide who to go to dinner with next so that we have an excuse to go to La Tasca again. Wonderfly different and enjoyable. There was a delay between our tapas arrival but it was the perfect amount of time - it would have been nice if the server would have shared the timing with us though."

The food all came out at one time, which barely fit on our table with other plates and glasses. The food, as well as the Sangria, was all very good. We ultimately finished with coffee and four desserts which we passed around for tasting. Service was satisfactory, but not great. "We were seated very quickly and our drink orders were taken right away. I received my drink in minutes; my son's diet coke took 15 min.to arrive. We ordered a cheese/meat board, followed by the La Tasca tasting menu. Approx. 10 minutes after ordering, we received 6 of the 9 tasting dishes. There was no lingering over the dishes, because the staff kept taking the plates away as soon as the last bite was picked up. Then we waited at least 30 min. before the waiter checked on us to see if we were ready for the check - we hadn't rec'd the last of the tasting dishes or the cheese board. It took another 25 min. to receive the remaining dishes and the cheese board didn't include what I had ordered. Very disappointing!!!"

"We started with a reservation for 6 and by the time all had gathered, we had 14... the folks at La Tasca did not blink an eye, but covered the needs and all were happy! Great for large groups and excellent tapas!"

"Overall, good food but terrible service. The food took forever and was cold when it came. It took the waiter 25 minutes to tell us two dishes were no longer available. Also, the band that plays is too loud and should start a little later."

"All dishes were very tasty, with the exception of the paella, whose rice was a bit undercooked. The eggplant in light batter was the most plentiful and also one of my favorite selections. Lamb was cooked to perfect light pink. Beef was well marinaded and nicely complimented with mushrooms. Strongly brewed coffee was delicious and the flan was very European, not sweet but tasting of vanilla and creme.
It is a perfect place for tappas as they let you chat between courses and do not rush you to order, eat and move out the door."

"We ate at La Tasca for restaurant week. This was a great value, unlimited tapas for $35. The tapas menus was limited, but it didn't make a huge difference.
Come in expecting a leisurely pace to your meal. I've heard complaints about the service, but the whole point of tapas is that the meal is supposed to take a while. I found the service to be very good, just provided at a different pace. The food was good,but not great. The blue cheese stuffed dates were outstanding. Other dishes were good, but not memorable.
The noise level was a real problem. At 9pm, a band started playing in the bar. After that point, it was impossible to have a conversation without yelling across the table."

"I've eaten at La Tasca in Clarendon and downtown DC with exceptional results. La Tasca Alexandria's kitchen needs help -- all meats were overcooked & delivery of food wasn't timely. Service was lacking -- had to chase our waiter, routinely missed bringing requested items and refilling water glasses."
