"Compared to a Wow experience 18 months ago, we were somewhat disappointed this time around. My Delmonico was "muscley" and not easy to eat. Prepared exactly to order but quality was lacking. This was the recommended dish and I was sorry I ordered it!"

"Ordered the beef appetizer and the meat was so tender and juicy....Delicious! For my entree Bone-In Delmonico med-rare cooked perfectly and easily one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Oh and the service was friendly and accommodating. We will be back!!!"

"Have dined at S&H at least 4 times, and it's a good place to dine. The steaks were on point this evening. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to the right temp. I wish we had more attentive service. Our waitperson disappeared for much of our time there and when you are flagging waitstaff, it has gone beyond the point of no return. We waited at the front desk for some time before being seated because no one was there. This restaurant feels like no one's in charge or watching and there doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency or exacting standards for service that should be befitting a good steakhouse. Last time we were here, the service was attentive. This time, no. I don't think the quality of service should be left to the wind like it has."

"In most restaurants, using half-crutches and being hard of hearing pose problems. Moving between tables, putting crutches out of the way, being able to hear what table-mates are saying are challenges. Sam & Harry's layout is just right, the ceilings are high enough to buffer sound, the seating does not tire you out, the staff speak clearly and distinctly. Oh, and the food and wine are wonderful and the atmosphere is restful. Our favorite meeting spot."

"My wife and I always enjoyed Morton's but it is simply not the same. Sam and Harry's has become our steakhouse of choice. The service is great and Michael, the bartender, is simply a blast and we really enjoy his company during our visits. We love going to Sam and Harry's and will continue to do so."

"The facility here, although convenient as a convention attendee, is nevertheless essentially a captive audience, and perhaps that accounts for the marginal food and service. Food is just "good" with small portions juxtaposed against up-scale prices. My seafood while tasty, was micro-portioned over an excessive bed of greens in an attempt to compensate. My friend ordered a filet mignon "pink in the middle" and it was scorched on the ends and only pink in the very center; "tough and tasteless" as he described it. Wine by the glass is almost insulting as the pour is about 1/10 of a bottle----(just buy the bottle if your group has two or more drinkers). Have been here before and have had better experiences; perhaps an "off" night."

"Always a favorite place to entertain our clients when we are at the hotel for tradeshows. We have made this our "go to" restaurant for the last 3 years....using it exclusively for 2 nights in a row each time. We love the food,the atmosphere and great wine list.It's a no-brainer to stay in house and save cab fare, too.
Our most recent visit was somewhat of a disappointment. We were chastized by the host for not calling ahead to say our party of 6 would now be a party of 4. The restaurant did not fill up at any point during our 2 1/2 hour meal, but the service was slow. Not just food service, but drinks, too. The servers are always wonderful, and the food was worth the wait. We felt like there is a lack of planning and management oversight."

"This is the first review i have done. I felt that i needed to since i have heard such good things about the resturant. First of all they were sold out of 5 count that 5 main dish items. The reservation was for 7:30 and we were one of 4 tables in the whole resturant so they couldnt have been too busy. Second the staff was so unprofessional not only joking around but didnt clear off plates. The last straw was that they put a loud business group at the table right next to us even though there was a completly empty rest of the resturant. I for one will never be back."

"Food was acceptable. Typical for a steakhouse. Good but not exceptional. Service was very poor. One steak brought to the table without the proper crust. Was returned and came back overcooked. Side dishes were delivered ad hoc. We had to ask for a side order that was not delivered at all. Wait staff was hard to find and did not check in with us virtually at all. It is a very pretty room. Has a glass enclosed private room that would be nice for entertaining a group of about 10 - 12."

"Went on a Tuesday night, so not a lot of people. Plus, being March, The Terrace wasn't open, but I will definately be back in warmer weather. Love the wood paneling, and quasi art deco theme. Very comfortable seating against a long padded bench. Excellent steaks, attentive and non overbearing service, combined with big pours on the liquor. Way to go guys."

"This was our first visit and we were blown away with the food. My husband has tried steaks around the area including Morton's and Gibson's and ruled that the Delmonico steak here was the best. It is also prime which is hard to find anymore. We had their sweet potato and mac and cheese sides and they were perfect. The service was attentive without being overbearing and the couches by the tables were extremely comfortable.
I think this restaurant has been over looked because it's in a hotel. We will be back."

"My wife and I went here for Valentine's Day and it was a terrific choice! Surprising in that it is in a hotel rather than stand alone. Look and feel is bright,open. Seating are small love seat type sofas. Very different and very comfortable. Food choices on the menu, including gluten free, were excellent and the the food itself was outstanding. Romantic, but good for groups and guests. Service was also outstanding. Will definitely return and take others."

"We went here with friends for lunch prefixe specials during restaurant week. They have comfy sofas as seats. For appetizers, we absolutely loved the crab cakes (BETTER than Shaw's crabhouse) and lobster bisque (pieces of fresh lobster). I had a blackened whitefish sandwich that was delicious - although there were pickle slices on the bottom that caused it to be a bit of a drippy mess but still tasted good. My husband got the BBQ glazed salmon which was delicious. For dessert we got the ricotta doughnuts with sauces/ ice cream - which was perfect. Apparently they close at 2pm for lunch but since we made the open table reservation for 2pm they accommodated us and didn't ask us to leave till 5pm when they were setting up for dinner. :)"

"We went for lunch on Saturday to taken advantage of the Chicago Restaurant Week specially priced menu. I had chosen this restaurant because the dining week lunch menu had a more interesting selection than many others.This restaurant is part of a complex which includes a hotel and convention center and there was a cheer leading event taking place that day. There were many young women and their families, which created a lot of noise.Our server was pleasant, but it took a long time to get our drinks and then once we ordered, our food was very slow to arrive. We had to ask for bread to accompany our meals and we had to wait 10 minutes for a second cup of coffee. Considering the menu prices, service should be a lot more professional."

"We chose this restaurant as part of our Restaurant Week experience. We looked up menus and proces and chose 3. We printed out menus with prices and on Saturday we wnet to Sam & Harry"'s. When we were handed the menu it was exactly as advertised, except for the price. the advertised price on several websites was $33, but the menu we received stated $44. We ordered our dinner and I mentioned it to our excellent waiter. He took my question to the manager and she appeared at our table and told me I printed a menu from 2012. I told her I printed it from several different sites and she inferred that I was trying to scam a lower price. Although we enjoyed our meal, there are many wonderful places to dine and we will never go back to this one."

"We went to Sam and Harry's for the convenience since we were in town and staying at the Renaissance for the weekend. I had the bone-in KC strip, and my Wife had the brisket. My Wife and I frequently visit "prime" steakhouses, and S & H's was slightly less than average for what you expect (good but not great). The serivce was fair at best. We waited to be seated despite standing there looking at only a half-full restaurant, and the host was very disorganize and visually appeared chaotic. The server was very friendly, but was unattentive, and it took a full 55 to 60 minutes from the time we were seated to the time we were eating. Every stage took longer than it should have (seated to drinks to bread to dinner)."

"Our server was exceptional, and the food was very well presented and delicious. The only down side was that right outside the restaurant, in a common area of the Renaissance, was a gathering of hundreds of cheerleaders waiting for their turn in a competition. The glass walls of the restaurant were not able to contain the noise!"

"This is a restaurant that you probably wouldn't go to unless you or friends or family were staying at the Renaissance hotel or you were going to a convention/show there as I was. It's located off I-90 and is annoying to get to, most likely by car, although free Schaumburg trolley takes you there from Woodfield every 20-30 minutes on weekends. Parking lot is poorly designed and treacherous in ice and snow. Once you are there, dining room is gorgeous and menu has great selections at many price points so don't look at the dining room and think , "Too Expensive," I had delicious Chicken Bruschetta sandwich & salmon is outstanding as well. Limited unremarkable wine list for lunch, but there is one. Very friendly, funny and responsive staff."
