"Our party of 4 had a 8PM reservation and the restaurant was not busy at that time. 3 of the 4 dishes that came out of the kitchen were cold (not lukewarm but cold). The 4th dish was hot. We told our server, and he immediately offered to replace the dishes, but told us that it would be 10 more minutes. He then offered to keep the 4th dish hot since that member of our party didn't want to eat her dish while were waiting. The replacement dishes were then brought out and they were hot, and the 4th dish appeared to be a brand new dish as well. That being said, the food was delicious - 2 of our party had the grilled calamari and octopus (I'm sorry I don't remember the other 2). We shared the cebiche tasting appetizer and they were all tasty."

"I am a food lover, I found La Mar a very upscale well decor and location, Food was good, Portion kind of petite but tasty, I try it all - I have not complaints with the ecception of the loudness on the second floor we could have a conversation then we decide to eat, but you can have all I found the first level without personality too empty and too much light."

"Great ceviche! But the location is a bit off... right off Madison Square Park, nestled in the Credit Suisse building.. just not a place I would ever think of dining had I not read about La Mar in NYMag. Even though it's across the park from Eataly, you would never think to look at the concrete facade of the bank building. That being said, once inside, the food will be your focus and it's definitely worth it! We had two ceviches and one shrimp salad - each was tasty and fresh. Highly recommend if you are a ceviche fan."

"Food and service were great however I was disappointed to find a limited selection on the menu which was different than the one they advertised on their website. Had I known this ahead of time I would have opted to go at a later time when lucuma for example was on the menu.

"I'm afraid I have to say this restaurant was mediocre, at best. We had really enjoyed our time at their location in Panama, so decided this would be our Peruvian choice in NYC. The staff at this location was very friendly, but slow and not very attentive...when the place was very slow, so no excuse. The food was OKAY, but I wouldn't return."

"I had a reservation for 2 at 7PM (on a Saturday) and am very delighted that I made it. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by 2 hostesses and provided with a few options for seating. We opted to sit by a beautiful chandelier on the second floor that extends to the first floor via an opening that enables a nice view of the bar and nicely contributes to La Mar's ambiance. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and provided very detailed suggestions and recommendations. As expected, the menu is seafood dominant but there are several meat and chicken options. Appetizers were fine. Entrees were delectable (we had ribs). Dessert was fine despite the over 30 minute wait for it to arrive. She had a sorbet and I had a lemon cookie concoction..."

"Been here several times with quartets. Prefer the upstairs, but it snowed and perhaps there were cancels. The menu was limited, also perhaps the same reason. It looked like a lunch menu. However, the food quality is excellent. The yellow fin is unreal and both entrees were superb. Eating downstairs is noisy when it is energetic which it was was. I think the staff had its hands full with the people that night, but overall I'd always go back. It is unique dining experience not found elsewhere in NYC to my knowledge."

"In the old Tabla location, La Mar is a worthy successor of this beautiful space.

"The food was just okay for what it was priced, but the service felt staffed by high school employees. "We have been to La Mar in Lima a few times and were eager to try to the NYC version. Overall, it was a bit disappointing. Tiraditos and cebiches were pretty good but there very little variety of seafood (thus missing the main point of the La Mar experience) and the main dish rices (arroces) were over-salted and had completely wrong texture. Desserts also a disappointment. And of all places, you would think La Mar could at least come up with a good pisco sour - wrong!! All in all, interesting as a novelty experience but we won't be going back."

The service was excellent. The dishes had a refined twist. As appetizers, we ordered the tuna tartar and one causa (whipped potato topped with quinoa and avocado). Both dishes had great flavor combination and an eye-catching presentation. The appetizers'sauces were scrumptious, but most of it is 'wasted' since the menu does not offer any type of bread to wipe them off the plate. We complemented our meal with the octopus and the short ribs, both very good in taste, but tending to be on the salty side."

"Made an impromptu reservation at the last minute to start off this much-needed weekend, and since La Mar Cebicheria was in the neighborhood of my office - figured why not? Not realizing it was in the same space as the old, prestigious Tabla. Loved that place! And guess what? La Mar did not disappoint one bit. Food was outstanding, and so was the customer service from the hostess to the waiter. Top notch! Had the tuna tartare special, the cebiche limeno, and the fluke shots (forgot what it's called) for starters. All were mind-blowing and OUTSTANDING! Talk about flavor explosion in your mouth! Entrees: the arroz ariollo (?) and ribs. Amazing! Finally, the passionfruit custard. Every bit of the foot was beyond amazing!"

"My fiancee and I went here for Valentine's Day and had a great time. The food was delicious and the service was great. The ambiance was very enjoyable, too. We love their location in SF, and this one did not disappoint. We only wished the full menu was available when we were there; but there's always next time!"

"Peruvian food is the best, though this restaurant is still in the process of becoming one of the must-spots. Pisco sour was amazing. Cebiche was fresh, spicy and energetic. Main courses were not that good, but still good."

"Earlyish 6:30 PM reservation. Not at all crowded, so we had attentive service and a relaxingly quiet atmosphere. A lovely room and warm friendly service added to the pleasure of such interesting food. My companion, who had never had Peruvian food, ordered a combination of a pastel de choclo (salad greens and a sweet, sweet corn cake), some beef empanadas and 2 skewers (anticuchos) of grilled chicken which she was kind enough to share with me. I ordered seco de pescado, grilled Long Island fluke, which was delicious. We sat downstairs, not far from the bar. A very enjoyable evening."

Food was delicious, although ceviche clasico fell short to my expectations. However desserts were outstanding, suspiro limeño was amazing!!
Ambience was really nice and intimate. We sat one. The lower level. Have to say table were to close to each other.

"We really enjoyed the food and our waiter was excellent, providing good suggestions. There were no tables upstairs so we were stuck eating in the bar, which was extremely noisy. We were meeting an old friend, so it wasn't conducive to catching up as we had hoped. I would go back, but would first ensure that there was available seating upstairs."

"I like coming here because it has amazing authentic Peruvian food. Ceviche (classic) is just like the one I have at home which I love love love and miss. The sangria was perfect and so was the Lomo. Last time they changed the Lomo and used potatoes instead of fries, glad they changed it back to fries. The picarones and queso helado are just like those in Peru which I'm pretty surprised. I took a couple of friends who are very picky with food (non adventurous with new types of food) they actually liked the food (Lomo, safe choice and the picarones and the empanadas). So it's good for adventurous people and non adventurous friends!"

"First, the food was yummy - would have cleaned each plate if I had a piece of bread. Second, for a late lunch, it was the perfect scene for a small group of business friends to have a private conversation - the music was vibrant and covered the room in a veil of "sound privacy" (but not too loud, even for me who is hard of hearing). The service was excellent albeit a tad bit slow on things like refills and tea, but not critically so."
