Dockside Bistro
Dockside Bistro & Wine Bar, established in 2007, focuses on locally sourced produce, seafood and game with the intent to provide a vibrant culinary experience to the diner. Chef Laurie Nguyen brings the culinary traditions of her native Vietnam to bear on traditional Continental and Northwest cuisine to create exciting and unique culinary creations. We take particular pride in featuring daily fresh and ever changing seasonal appetizers and entrees.
In addition to top-shelf mixed drinks, Dockside Bistro also has an extensive list of over 130 different wines from the Pacific Northwest, California, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. As with our locally sourced produce, we take particular pride in hosting established and emerging wineries from the exciting wine scene developing in South Puget Sound.

"On a Saturday evening for my birthday dinner we arrived, weren't greeted, stood and waited for some time, then entered the restaurant to track down someone to assist us. Our reservation wasn't on the list; we were told to wait while she checked the computer. She came back and seated us at a very nice window table. We ordered a bottle of wine from the list provided; they were out. We chose another bottle of wine, and after quite a long wait we were informed they were also out of that. We finally chose a bottle in stock! Bread was brought to tables around us; we had to ask for bread. We ordered our entrees; after 10 or so minutes we were told they were out of one. When the food finally arrived, it was quite good. They were not busy, so????"

"The food was incredible! We don't eat out often because we cook better quality dinners at home than most restaurants serve here in Olympia. This gem of a restaurant is now our one exception. All three entrees were superb - elk, filet mignon and scallops. Our dinner was a real treat and it was a joy to experience food prepared so well."

"I came here with three girlfriends to try the restaurant during the inaugural Olympia Restaurant Week. They seated us right away and were incredibly friendly. The staff gave great recommendations on food and wine and were attentive without helicoptering. Each of us was impressed and satisfied with our main course. I loved the halibut dish, which was cooked to a moist and flaky perfection. We will definitely be returning."

"We chose Dockside Bistro for our Anniversary dinner. Hadn't been in a number of years and was pleasantly surprised to see how upscale it's become. Dark painted walls with vibrant abstract art paintings. Fresh flowers and orchids. For large groups, there's a very nice separate room with banquet sized tables, nice ambience, too. Main dining area pleasant, quiet. Our food was quite satisfying and nicely plated. We loved the toasted potato crisps served with the salad and warm bread with seasoned olive oil. Pistachio crusted halibut with pesto gnocchi was perfect. Key Lime Pie for dessert was quite good, but we had just returned from Key West, Florida where we tried several pies and we were still savoring the memory! Will recommend Dockside."

"We were here for a girls lunch and really enjoyed it. The server was knowledgable and gave us excellent recommendations on menu and the wine. The lunch menu wasn't large but the food was very good. The service was excellent and they didn't seem to mind that we lingered over dessert, wine and conversation. This was the perfect cozy restaurant for a long lunch on a rainy day; however, we will be returning on a sunny one."

"Dockside is a hidden gem in Olympia. The outside is unassuming, but don't let that fool you. The interior is warm, elegant and inviting. Well decorated and the ambiance is very enjoyable. We have eaten at Dockside a few times now, they remember your party, remember what you ordered the last time- which is unusual in todays standards, have great service in that un rushed, yet attentive way. The chef knows her way around the kitchen, and the food is delectable. I don't know if you could order a "bad" meal. The Misty Isle Fillet is my husband's favorite and in his opinion rivals Ruth Chris quality . I love the Pistachio crusted halibut with Gnocchi- wonderful!
Bottom line- it is $$$ but the quality is worth every dime. Try it out!"

"I had the calamari appetizer and its fried coloring was white and came out cold. My husbands lamb skewers were delish. Wish there was additional wait staff because I would have ordered wine but the line waiter was so busy. Needless to say he took great care of us. "This was our special Valentine's Day dinner (the day after) and we were looking forward to enjoying a nice meal. We made reservations and were quickly seated and the host was very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, that's where the good service seemed to end. We didn't get place settings, my lobster bisque arrived cold, with my meal, I had to ask for a spoon for it, the waitress asked if we'd like more bread (we said yes), then didn't bring it. We didn't get upset about the service, but it certainly wasn't in line with the price of the meal. The food was excellent! I had the elk and my date had the halibut and we also had dessert. The diver's scallop appetizer was the best scallop I have ever eaten."

"Saturday was the first time we had the opportunity to dine at Dockside. What a hidden GEM. Reservations are a must, but otherwise the food was to die for, the Crusted Halibut divine, the Fillet done to perfection. We had dinner with our in laws there and everyone was very happy with their meal. The appetizers were great and of course the desert a perfect finish to the dinner.
We will return many times in the future for sure. We have driven by Dockside many times in the past to go to other popular haunts in Olympia, but the car will now STOP at Dockside for sure. What a hidden gem."

"Terrific menu options, there is steak, fish and chicken. We went for our 25th anniversary and brought our two daughters. There was not anything on the menu that the 15 year old wanted...so they made here an awesome fetuccini alfredo.
We started with crab cakes...great, bread and the cheese platter that came complimentary with wine a bottle of wine on tuesday!!
My wife and other daughter had sturgeon, I had the duck...let's just say..not much sharing and clean plate club all the way around.
Dessert for me....Jack Daniels Ice cream....need I say more.
