Here at cafe|bar our goal is to provide exceptional hospitality and creative cuisine in an affordable fashion. cafe|bar, designed by Owner Dane Huguley, whose vision was to create an atmosphere that was modern but comfortable, making guests feel as though they are dining in an urban upscale restaurant with a residential charm. Our focus is to be a community restaurant; we are 100% wind powered, recycle our fryer oil, utilizing composting programs and energy efficient equipment. cafe|bar cuisine is prepared by chef Eric Rivera; where he is combining classic and new American dishes while keeping them unique and affordable. In addition, we have a unique yet sophisticated wine and spirits list to accompany our cuisine.
We strive to be involved and give back to our community in any way shape or form and promise to deliver an experience desired time and time again.

"I was a little disappointed in the brunch....bison burger was dry and they messed up our order. My friend had his food 10 minutes before I got mine! The dinner however, was great and they were kind enough to give us free desserts for our birthdays!"

"We live in the neighborhood and LOVE this restaurant. We went there for our anniversary this time. The food was exceptional as always! We had the shrimp cerviche appetizer and the duck appetizer. Both were fantastic! The cerviche had huge chunks of shrimp! For dinner we had the bass and the scallops. The bass was our favorite, but we loved both! The wine list is fantastic and includes many wines I had never heard of (I'm assuming they are boutique wines) The wait staff is very knowledgable and always steers us in the right direction (when asked) in choosing one. It is always so fun discovering new wines! The manager, Justin, is very hands on. Like cafebar on Facebook and learn about some of their fun offerings!"

"We didn't even have a chance to order our dinner before we had to walk out. Upon reviewing the Kentucky Derby drink specials, I told my waiter I'd like to have the Mint Julep. He said he's not sure how I got the list of specials, but I wasn't supposed to have it and that the "party was over" and pointed to a different list of specials. I preceded to show him that the special is noted to be for dinner (4:30 to close). I looked at the new "specials" and the same mint juelp was on special for $9 instead of the $6 on the apparently rescinded specials list. He laughed and at me walked away."

"This awesome resturant has a great menu filled with fresh and delicious small bites, salads, and entrees. The service was excellent. Their wine list offered several great looking picks all available by the glass too! We opted for a truly fresh squeezed margarita, delicious! I had the scallops and my husband the bison burger, and we shared the duck appetizer. Then I went back a couple days later to pick up lunch for a few coworkers and I and everyone was more than happy! Will be returning for sure!!"

"Very nice except for the noise level. We were in the front room, which was Friday night full. The room is very hard (tile on walls up part way to ceiling) and the noise level from all of the conversations made it impossible to converse without yelling, which only further amplified the noise.
Other than that we very much enjoyed Cafe Bar, food and service were quite good. Will go back once the outdoor patio opens, likely will not be as loud outside."

"The "pan fried" squid was actually boiled and very bland, swimming in buerre blanc with a few arugula leaves. The spaghetti squash bolognese (bolognaise? on the menu) was served on unseasoned squash with barely cooked mushroom slices in a watery sauce with no hint of caramelly, long cooked tomato and mir poix.
The salmon was grilled perfectly (why not use the grill for the squid?) again the sauce and accompaniments were weak--roasted cauliflower more baked than roasted.
Our server was professional, everyone else; bartender, front desk, busser seemed uncomfotable and untrained. Someone from the kitchen approached our table without introduction, asked how everything was, received a tepid response and fled having no idea how to respond."

"What a letdown: we had reserved several weeks ahead having seen and heard (live nearby) of CafeBar since its opening with great hope for a new neighborhood gem...unfortunately, we were quite let down by the hype - the menu was inventive but somewhat limited - we did enjoy our meals and portions were perfectly sized. Service was blah/uninspired - specials were dumped on us in written form before we had both been seated (he was parking, still) and the table we had reserved for weeks was a small two-top just by the door which contributed to cold blasts each and every diner's entrance and exit. The biggest reason I would never go back is the noise level..unabated, intrusive and overwhelming. A great disappointment; we won't back."

"Have been wanting to try this place for a while since moving to the neighborhood and was not let down. Service and food were great. They wanted to seat us by the door but I was really cold so I requested to sit somewhere else and they accommodated by seating us at a cozy high top by the bar. Definitely want to go back as there are other things on the menu that I want to try!"

"Fun atmosphere and great potential! It still feels like a restaurant that's working on coming into its own. I've dined here twice and the first time was much better. We just went during restaurant week, so maybe that had something to do with it. I'll definitely come back to Cafe Bar. The menu items are fun and the drink list is good. The service is attentive. It's a great place to grab a drink and hang out!"

"While I appreciate what cafebar is aiming to do - it's not as well executed as it could be. The food is good, but over-priced for the lack of interesting flavors and techniques. They are definitely trying very hard to create culinarily interesting gourmet dishes with whole foods, but it falls flat. Maybe as the menu changes there is room for a few stand-out dishes, but neither my date nor I were all that impressed for the price."

"The food was flavorful and the selection was unique. The overall quality of the food was excellent. This is not the place, however, to go if you are super hungry as the portion sizes were a dissapointment. Our party attended as part of the 5280 Restaurant Week annual event and we left the restarant still feeling hungry. The soup we received as the first course, while delicous was a serving size of about 6 bites. I'm hoping the portions offered were only stingy due to restaurant week. The service was friendly and we didn't have to wait to be seated for our reservation. The restaurant was really loud but I am willing to give it another try during a time that isn't as busy."

"We had a 7:15 reservation and weren't seated until 7:40. I felt bad for the hostess, it clearly was an issue with tables not getting up but she didn't get any support from the rest of the staff. We waited at the bar and there was a surprise party happening behind us, with at least 20 people standing and creating a total bottleneck. When the five reservations that were behind us were also forced to wait at the bar, it because almost unbearable to sit there. Overall, the restaurant was good but the scene was too much, we likely will choose to go elsewhere in the future."

"We went to Cafebar for a second time recently. The first visit left a great impression on us and we were planning a night out with friends that wanted to give the restaurant a try. We arrived a bit early to grab a drink. The bar area was packed and we still got greeted and served quickly. We got seated pretty close to our reservation time and our server was attentive and friendly. The Wild Game Sausage Board app w black cherry jam was wonderful, I would recommend it and get it again. The best entrees were the hangar steak and the arctic char special."

I knew it was Valentine's Day and a special menu was prepared, but the price was a little steep for the selections and wine was extra.
