Specializing in pairing food and wine, Coppia focuses on the cuisine and wines of Piedmont, Italy, in a warm, inviting, yet hip atmosphere. A full dinner menu and wines from other regions, as well as a full bar are available.
"We had never been to Coppia before and decided to try the June Dining Month menu as a way to sample their wares. We had an early evening reservation and were seated immediately. Our drinks and appetizers came out very quickly as did our main meal. The lag in time between the end of our main meal and dessert was quite long considering there were only about 8 people in the restaurant and 5 people waiting or behind the bar. I went for the wine pairing with the menu and it was spot on. The meal was absolutely delicious as well. The normal dining prices are a little on the steeper side so we were glad to try out the $29 Prix-fixe menu. I would most definitely come back again for a special occasion."

"Didn't think the person appointed to being in charge of the wine selection knew his wine list all that well. Just might need to take a bit more time learning, tasting and comparing. But all in all great experience! Service was fantastic!"

"Just had a wonderful evening at Coppia. Service was attentive and helpful but not intrusive. The food was exceptional as were the wine pairings. We bought two of the wines we tasted to take home!"

"This is a quaint and lovely place for dinner. The food was excellent -- great parpadelle with wild boar ragu. The server was very knowledgeable about all the options and the wine pairings. We tried the recommended wine pairings and I was very impressed with their recommendations. Definitely worth trying again."

"Four of us had dinner at Coppia last night and it was delicious. We tried three of the pasta dishes on the menu. The Agnolotti stuffed with mushrooms in a mushroom broth with sugar peas was perfectly prepared. Perfectly prepared, rich in flavor and just the right bite to the pasta. The Pappardella with wild boar ragu was amazing, and glad that one of us ordered so that we know to get it next time. The Tajarin with sugo was another treat not to be missed.
We brought our own wine, but our next visit will be done with the pairings as the cellar at Coppia is impressive. This is going to be our "go to" for pasta. Can't wait to return as it is a treat that takes me back to some of my favorite meals in Italy."

"Went with 6 co-workers, one vegan, one picky, one teetotaler, and it was perfect. The food was fantastic, the wine spectactular and everyone had a nice chat."

"Had the bread and olives, veal pasta and tagliatelle with wild boar- all with wine pairings. The roque (sp?) wine that came with the tagliatelle was truly exceptional."

"We had part of our group VERY late due to a freeway accident tie up. Our server was very helpful in making sure they were able to get somethnig to eat before we had to run off to a theater show!"

"We tried it in its first incarnation "Vino Paradiso;" The revamp "Coppia" has a wider menu and good food. Our group of four tried a variety of starters and three different main courses. The salmon was a nice combination of salty and sweet (could have been a bit less salty). Starters and mains were paired with wines knowledgeably presented by our server. It was a nice meal and we'll return to try more menu options."

"First visit to Coppia but not the last. Small but fine Italian menu with thoughtful wine pairings...and graciously suggested alternatives with no pressure either way, which is appreciated. Love the half-portion option available on some dishes. One tiny suggestion: add an espresso machine to allow expanding the coffee menu...our French press coffees were excellent, but my dining companion was yearning for a latte."

"I have been to Coppia numerous times, and it never disappoints. The chef is amazing, always preparing the Northern Italian style food (particularly Piedmont, Italy) with perfection. The Bagna Caoda is the best I have had anywhere this side of Italy, and it's presentation is almost too pretty to eat! The restaurant has a cozy, romantic ambiance for dining, but I often eat at the bar when I am alone, because the staff is so friendly and it makes for a comfortable bar scene. The wine list is extensive, but the drinks are also excellent (I can especially speak for the martini). Since Coppia is only a couple of blocks from the Armory, it is the ideal restaurant for having dinner or Happy Hour before the show at Portland Center Stage!"

"I'm shocked that we had not yet heard of this place. We love the Pearl District and eat there often. Northern Italian food was wonderful. Ambience was very nice with an updated look, yet intimate with live plants around."

"My wife and I ate hear recently for Valentine's Day and had a wonderful experience. We had the Prix Fixe menu for the night and enjoyed every course. My wife took advantage of the wine pairings and found them to be great complements to the dishes. The ambiance was very appropriate for a nice romantic evening."

"Went to Coppola for valentines day. The food was good, the atmosphere nice but the waiter was a bit flakey. He had to check with the kitchen when asked what meat being served was (venison). Wouldn't have been an issue except that it was a special menu so there we only two entree choices."

"The food was superb. The courses were very balanced for taste leading to the last course. The extraordinary pairing of wines with each course was indeed outstanding. They have a great wine list and one could have picked good wines but the pairing by the Chef was what gave the Chef high marks for her/his skill. About the wine list: There are several offerings that even a Somalier might find to be out of the ordinary and seldom seen. Case in point the RUCHE from Piedmont was a delightful rare surprise. Other noteworthy courses were Venison, Trout and Fennel root Salad. Ofcourse these were each paired with distinctly complimenting wines. This was our second visit and each experience was truely well done."
