"Had a dinner of 3 in the restaurant. Food is very good and relatively inexpensive. They ran out of 1 special right before we arrived, but overall it's very nice. It's not very loud, so if you want to have a conversation there, it is totally possible."

"We wanted to get together for dinner with friends in the DC area with whom we traveled around Greece. The restaurant was located in a great location near DuPont Circle / metro but also recommended on their website a garage close-by for drivers. The wait staff offered suggestions of "favorites" for first timers and were very personable yet non-obtrusive."

"The grilled calamari had the tastiest sauce - I would recommend it in a heartbeat as an appetizer. Moussaka and grilled octopus with pureed fava beans - JUST OUTSTANDING!!! We love this restaurant because of the food, the service and the ambiance - and it is just around the corner from us when we are in DC :-)"

"This is the most original Greek food I have tasted outside the old country. Branzino in Salt Crust is the most succulent fish you can imagine, the octopus in it's own ink is as beautiful as it tastes and their signature dish of pork filets with manouri cheese and figs remains as exciting to the taste buds as when I first went to this restaurant years ago. They have since enlarged their dining room a little while ago and it is a bit quieter in the newer part than in the jam packed older part of the restaurant. Highly recommend this place if you truly want to sample a little piece of Greece. Needless to say, the wines are all from Greece and terrific!"

"My fiance and I arrived at open on a Friday night, so the restaurant felt quiet and intimate. Service was prompt and courteous. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the wines and made excellent recommendations to pair with the delicious entrees. You're best bet for dessert is the pirasmos; a sampling of several of the pastries surrounding a mound of yogurt and honey. Cost is on the pricey side but lower than comparable establishments in the Dupont Circle area; a good value for the quality of the food."

"We took a friend from out of town here the other evening. My friend and I ordered 4 appetizer plates and split them. Entree prices are a little high so it was a great idea to share appetizers, like the octopus, which was delicious. My husband liked his cod entree but didn't love it. The Greek wine they recommended was very good too. Overall we really enjoyed the food and the service was excellent."

"We had a wonderful dinner at Mourayo. It was a great choice for our three guests who are vegetarians. The eggplant dishes were delicious and the lamb chops were very tender and flavorful. Unfortunately, we did not have the best service. The appetizers came out very quickly...but we waited a long time to have our main course served. We had to ask to have our waiter come to the table and inquire about our food. We had noticed that the other tables around us had already been served their dinners."

"My wife and I took my godson who was in town on business to Mourayo upon recommendation of a friend. The food and service were excellent. I had the lamb chops, my wife the lamb & orzo stew (looked more like a pasta dish) and my godson had the pork loin medallions.

"Second time here for dinner. Food is really very good and while not inexpensive it's a good value relative to a lot of higher end places. Not a lot of high-end greek restuarants so this is a nice place to go for upper tier dining and different from the more typical continental, italian, french, etc. Service was good; waiters recommendations on the menu and the wine were spot on. Wine list is short but provides an opportunity to try some greek wine which was quite good. After dinner liquours are different and interesting. Will definitely go back again."

"Best Greek for in DC. Excellent service and high-quality ingredients. Octopus was exceptionally good. portions are ample, and a single appetizer serves 2. Try the veg appetizer sampler, and it may be enough for dinner. Will be going back again and again. Important to have reservations (and stick to the time)--this place fills up quickly."

"I was introduced to Mourayu at lunchtime, by friends who worked nearby and felt that it was the best Greek restaurant in the area. I too felt it was just great. So recently, for my first time out after surgery and wanting a special place that would also be a calm enough environment not to be dangerous to me after surgery, I suggested to my husband that we go to Mourayu. We were both very happy with the very good food, service and atmosphere. It was louder than my experience at lunch, but we were still able to enjoy one another's company. And we ordered classic dishes and found them very good. We have travelled around the world quite a bit and frequent some of the best restaurants in DC and felt that this was an overlooked gem."

"The food was exceptionally good especially the monkfish and the grilled octopus appetizer. The Greek wine list was appreciated as most similar restaurants do not have one. I would avoid the meatballs but every thing else we had was very good. The waitress seemed a little confused and awkward but the service was attentive"

"This place is only getting a four because the service, ambiance and presentation were great. The food was so-so and exremely overpriced. The appetizer with all their dips was beautiful but not flavorful. The bread and pita, however, we're top notch. We had the monk fish, at he recommendation of the waiter, it was tasty, but the sauce tasted like gravy and the fish was really chewy and tough. Wouldn't go here again."

"Food: EXCELLENT + Service: EXCELLENT = most memorable date night!. It's quite the trek for us to get into DC so we have a rule to try a new place each time we go. We're going to break the rule for Mourayo.

"Some items on the menu were tasty. The whole Branzino was perfectly done,the Pork Medallions with fig sauce delicious, however my Scallop entree was a bit lacking. Far too salty and no discernible flavor. Scallops fell flat!"

"Lousy waiter, great food, really good food. We will return, but w'll keep a look out for the bad waiter. He was rude, probably a bit overhelmed as the resatuarant began to fill, not very attentive. He could have spoiled the experience, but the food, fresh as it was (salads, fish, lamb chops) made all the difference."

"Truly mediocre and unmemorable. We took a group of 7 hungry college students, and no one had a remarkable meal. The best part of the meal was the tasting platter with babaganoush, hummus, etc. Way overpriced for what you get."

"Eating at Mourayo was like being transported to Greece, whereupon one stumbles across an elegant but understated neighborhood spot where locals come to appreciate the finer side of Greek cuisine. Every dish was bursting with flavor, yet so delicately prepared that you could taste and appreciate every ingredient. We had the grilled octopus to start with the fava bean puree. Octopus was tender and juicy and was complemented perfectly by the fava beans. I had the branzino, which was served in a light broth that had hints of fennel. The flavor of the broth infused the fish, which can at times lack flavor, and it created a perfect balance. My partner had the grilled lamb chops, simply prepared but bursting with flavors and cooked to perfection."
